  1. @Colin Jordan @Shiju Manuel @Lorenzo Candelpergher @RohanH @Chaitanya D @Roshan Abraham @E.C. TAN @Emmanuel @Jeepie Thanks for signing up for the Badayer/Iftar Bowl drive tomorrow afternoon, evening. HIS DRIVE IS NOW CLOSED It's a lovely Thursday morning in Dubai/Sharjah and by this time tomorrow evening , We hope to be out of the desert having visited Iftar Bowl, and enjoyed a Fewbie drive that should be a fun and challenging drive. The drive tomorrow is planned to take us through some excellent long wide dunes so we can practice driving across the dunes. We will also try to pay attention to get some more basic practie in some less practiced skills in the Newbie drives such as criss corssing and ridge riding. There should be plenty of time for 'play', depending on the number of stucks and how busy the dunes are at that time of the afternoon. So below is the convoy list, so you know where you are and are expected to be. Radio Channel will be Carnity Channel 4 for this drive. If for some reason you did not yet program your radio, DO IT NOW. There is an excellent guide on how to do this written by @Frederic. There will be no time for nor anyone avaialble to reprogram your radio tomorrow morning. If you are really in trouble with the radio then ping a message here and we will try to help you through the prcess. So they can prepare themselves mentally. 2nd lead - @Colin Jordan, Centre Forward @Roshan Abraham @E.C. TAN will sweep and @Emmanuel will be flying sweep. Sand conditions: The sand is soft and will suck you in, especially where we are headed ... but more on that tomorrow in the drive brief. Please deflate and get your flag erected as soon as you arrive so we can get moving ASAP. If you can move away from the stores at the meeting point that would be best so that we are not seen to congregate or 'gather. Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow afternoon. Should anything unexpected happen and you are unable to attend, please let us know. Otherwise, we will leave without you. 3. RSVP is now closed for this drive. You can find the convoy numbering below. Please familiarize yourself with your number so we can easily take off as soon as we are deflated. @asifk will be second lead tomorrow, and having seen him driving over the last couple of weeks, i am sure he will do great. @AviG is our only absolute newbie, and i wish him welcome to the club from my side He can keep a close watch on his buddy Asif who will be in front of him. @Tbone will be center forward, so he is the glue that keeps together moving swiftly and will communicate with me and Mels to relay the needed info. @Mels Wolf will be sweeping, and can test his rope and practice recovery skills. Be aware that Mels can move around within the convoy to assist where needed, and will be your main recovery help. Please arrive on time so by 7:00AM we are deflated and good to go. The restrictions have been lifted which means we can leave the house a bit earlier if needed. We will be using Carnity Channel 2 (446.03125) for our communication, so make sure the frequency is set and you have the other frequencies also in your radio set up so we can move to another frequency if there is too much interference. Make sure you all have flags and radio. Compressor is useful, but optional as we will be exiting on the road nearby the Al Qudra Last Exit ENOC station. Covid19 precautions still apply and we will stay inside our vehicles all the time, except for deflation, inflation, or recoveries. During recoveries only Marshal and assigned sweep are allowed outside the vehicle. See you tomorrow !!

  7. Hi @Frederic, I unfortunately already used the rope more than I figured I needed it yet, it's got great strength which will help us in any potential recoveries tomorrow! I even have half the rope colored green because my radiator coolant leaked from the can in the trunk as an extra effect! Looking forward to a nice and hot drive! Welcome @AviG and nice to see you on your first drive! Your Prado will probably easily take you through this nice light colored sand terrain!

  10. Hi @Lorenzo Candelpergher Lorenzo, We are all 100% in agreement that family comes first. Thanks for the response. Yes, it would have opened up a space for someone else to join and that's apprecaited by everyone as spots are more limited than they used to be. See you soon in the sand.

  11. Last year after seeing this digitized protection film, now this digital car paint seems possible to light up the whole car paint with electricity as we want, be it for reflective purposes or complete change on demand or animation with the car paint/panels. Really damn creative work. Im not sure how this digital car paint can get legal approval as many authorities record car color as key identifier. This digital car paint technology looks really very promising for endless applications and use for transportation industry from emergency vehicles to guiding vehicles etc.

  12. This drive is organized in full compliance with the COVID19 guidelines. We expect every member that joins this drive to respect and follow these guidelines strictly in order to not jeopardize someone's health and to ensure we can keep organizing these drives safely. MUST READ: Not following these rules and precautions = Not allowed to drive. No Gathering | No Briefing | No BBQ | No Eating Together | No Touching | No Hugging We are only allowed to drive through the desert, as we are driving on the road now. So we will only do the desert driving just by sitting inside our cars at all the times and leave the drive without socializing or coming close to each other. Just like before we like to continue our desert drives through out the year, but this time we need your immense support to understand the strict control and to help everyone follow them all the time. How to maintain "STRICT" Social Distancing Meeting point will be set slightly (100m - 200m) inside the desert track. You individually deflate your tires on the tarmac before reaching the meeting point. While deflating tires, stop cars 10 meters away from any other car. Drive signup on calendar will be closed on Thursday morning by 9 AM. Convoy numbering and briefing will be posted here on this drive post before 6 PM on Thursday. All participants need to read & acknowledge the briefing by clicking "Totally Agree" reaction. Switch on your radio when you reach the meeting point on the set frequency advised by the trip lead in the critical briefing here. Any suggestions or issues will be discussed over the radio too. You can also speak to other members through the radio only. So please make sure that your radio battery is fully charged. Once all set, trip lead will start the drive as before. Refusal and Recoveries with Social Distancing Every drive will have 1 lead Marshal and 1 or 2 supporting senior members/crew. Whenever there is a stuck or refusal, only a Marshal / Senior Member / Crew is allowed to handle the situation. Everyone else including the stuck car driver, stay inside the car - AT ALL TIMES. Marshal / Senior Member / Crew is only allowed to step out to access the situation and do the recoveries: They will wear mask and gloves at all times when they are outside their car. They will try to help self recover through the radio guidance. If not they will use required recovery gear and do the needful (shovel, tug or winch, as required). If at any time Marshal require help, then only you are allowed to step out by wearing face mask and gloves at all times. Drive completion and inflation There will not be any gathering or sitting down together for food-break like before. Once drive is finished, after reaching the tarmac, everyone is requested to move away 10-20 meters before starting their inflation. For drivers having no compressor, can head to the near by fuel station. If drive is ending at a place where there is no fuel station near by, then trip lead will inform in advance so that drivers having their own compressor can join only. 16. I like oiled filters because they catch dust. The dust literally sticks to the oil. But they have their disadvantages. They need regular maintenance and cleaning. They should be washed in a soap solution and dried out before being re oiled. You can’t just blow them out with an airline or you might tear them. If you over oil them and oil gets into your AFM, it can burn the hot wire and ruin it meaning you need to buy a new one. Back in the days before paper filters, oil baths were used to filter dust before it went into the engine. Some heavy machinery still use these as huge paper filters are cost prohibitive. If you want something cheap and easy, a direct replacement high performance panel filter is the way to go. Cone style filters have the advantage of an increased surface area meaning you can filter more air faster with less restrictions. A lot of people make the mistake of throwing the air box and just fitting a cone filter to the intake pipe. This means you are sucking in hot air from the engine bay which could actually cause you to have slightly less power. They should only be used with a proper fresh feed induction system.

With Marshal @Srikumar we had to change the meeting and deflation point to the following location: https://goo.gl/maps/iNzc9eLGoE34eAdX9 Please, also check the drive's main page for reference. The change was made to avoid the traffic jam that develops on approaching Al Faqa town limits, due to the police road-blocks for those entering Abu Dhabi. This new meeting point is the exit just before Faqa. Due to possible traffic on the road, please make sure to consider a few extra minutes of travelling, so that you may arrive on time. On arrival, please proceed to spread out along the road, and start deflating. We'll see you on Friday at 4PM, for the Faqa crossing toward Little Swehian and Solar Park.
