  1. Another Absolute Newbie Drive and another opportunity to meet so many wonderful people. It was sad that @Gaurav, @Jeh, @Emil and @Jocreative were unable to make it to the drive. My big thanks to @Atif and @skumar83 to support this drive. My respect to @jibransayed, @Faizan khan, @Rana, @Faiz khan, @BIG T and @Panda82 for showing up with their full patience and enthusiasm.

We started on time and after a detailed description and lecture for the newbies we headed to the farms for deflation. After a quick deflation and distribution of radios thanks to @Gaurav bhai for handing them over as he was unable to make it for the drive. Once all radios were set we numbered the convoy and I'm glad to see that all kept a good convoy discipline which meant everybody understood their roles in this drive. My second lead was @Atif bhai and @skumar83 was our very capable sweep who kept the convoy moving at good pace.

We started with a stop at the Camel farm, the children specially enjoyed this stop loads. From here we started our journey towards Pink Rocks. To my surprise everyone managed well with hardly couple of refusals and zero stucks. Well done all. This meant we reached the Pink Rocks much quicker than anticipated.upon reaching the Pink Rocks base I saw the arrangement made by Sharjah Police to curb the stupidity of show offs with heavily modified vehicles. It was strange to see a few cars standing around wondering what they should do next as the area was dug up to avoid usage of that area.

At this point after a short briefing we all managed to cross the top of Pink Rocks and on to the other side in search for a place to lay our spread. We found a nice little spot where we settled and @Atif bhai was requested once again to open his Prado Cafeteria. At this point I went to drop @Panda82 and his family as with their cute little girls they needed to head back to Abu Dhabi. After dropping them to the 2nd December Cafeteria I headed back to the rest. At this point @Faizan khan and @Faiz khan had to leave and I missed out on saying good bye to them. Heading back the smart crowd had already found a way to avoid the ditch and continue playing on our once playground.

We enjoyed some nice snacks and @Atif bhai tea with some amazing people. As we rounded up and headed out, some sweet good byes with a gleem in everyone's eyes to meet again. We inflated and headed back looking forward to meeting again soon.

I have updated the Gallery with my pics and videos, hope to see all the clicks from all the cameras I saw out there. Till next time, stay safe till we meet again.

It might be a V12, I have a car with a W16 in the shop at the minute. Numbers don’t impress me. It’s not the number of cylinders or engine capacity, it’s what you do with it that counts. It can easily turn into a willy waving contest, mine is bigger than yours etc, but if you’re not going to pull the handbrake and drift it round the world trade centre like a boss, what’s the point?

The smaller cars with better power to weight ratio deserve more respect. What’s the point in having a million horsepower unless you can use it on track?

The W16 you have, is it a VW Toureg, I heard about it, but have not seen one in UAE yet?

    depends.......!

Most intelligent Automatic gears is much better than manual gear, they shifts in nano milliseconds.

And 1.3-liter mate with auto or gear doesn't matter, it will be damn sluggish for real dune bashing. Just like Patrol misconceptions in the market, whatever Jimny you see flying on dunes are mated with 1.6 or 1.8L engine that fits without any modifications and RTA also accepts it as it from the same manufacturer and under same 4 cylinder range.

Besides engine swap a lot more mods required. I know someone who used to bring mods from UK and Australia, and the mods itself cost already 50% of the value of the car. However when he had to sell he only got the price of the car as no one appreciate the mods. Plus these mods only help itself to manage through the dunes, but cannot help anyone else in time of stuck. Only good for selfish person who likes to enjoy without helping others.

  5. @BIG T. Actually @Gaurav bhai and I are from an era when Big T, Taimur ruled the desert and we were his students, kind of. So it's so strange to have someone with the similar name and ID to be now training with us.

Welcome to your very own Off road club, bent tow points is sign of having a true Nissan, @EmVarlet and I both have bent rear tow points, @EmVarlet drives an Xterra and I drive the almighty, tow machine, my reliable Pathfinder.

Looking forward to seeing you this Friday, maybe another legend in the making.

  6. Welcome @Radhika. A very happy advanced birthday greeting to you. Never knew you shared your birthday with UAE.

I am not much of a wadi person, but appreciate the knowledge of @Jeh when it comes to wadis.

I have done one wadi drive with @Jeh which took us through Wadi Shawka which is an hour drive from Dubai. We then headed to the Hatta pools which was amazing place for families, however not sure about camping and BBQ. @Jeh if you can share insight on camping and BBQ in the Hatta Pool area.

I also remember doing Wadi Shawka with Gaurav bhai, wonderful place for families, bonus was the hidden track to the side where they store the water. @Gaurav bhai maybe you can share the track. I'm sure camping and BBQ would be fine as @waqaszohair and his wife served up some absolutely delicious chicken BBQ.

  7. @Emil it will be really sad that you will not be able to make it. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

@Olivier Refalo as @skumar83 said we do not leave anybody behind. It will be difficult if you do not have rear tow hooks, on my Jeep Commander 5.7 Hemi I did not have rear tow hook also, but there was a space to attach a tow ball where I could fit the shackles. Please confirm and let us know if there is any space to attach shackles in the back?

  8. Seems unbelievable as most limited number cars I've come across have a plate and certificate that comes with the car showing which number they were manufactured. So if they produce 500 cars they would be numbered from 1 to 500 which would be embossed on a plate and stuck near the dash board along with a certificate. These are not duplicated and if they were to produce say 500 cars only you would not see number 501. So I can't imagine manufacturers making so much money and being cheap enough to pull a stunt which would ruin their reputation for future limited models.

  9. With the season on and a Liwa drive closer than we can imagine, time to gear up to the challenge. Mentally and physically for us humans and mechanically sound for our machines. The video posted is by professionals and for advertisement purpose, should not be tried by anyone without all the preparation and help. They only show what is good about the car and a lot of sand splashing but not the complete picture. Still felt like sharing as it is one of our favorite terrain.

  10. As the alarm rang I woke up to what was going to be an epic day. A quick wash up and preparation to head to what was going to be one of the best drives of the year. On the way saw some hot air balloons near the Sky dive centre. Waved hello to some old friends on the way and saw a bikers group before reaching the meeting point. But the fun was about to begin.

As we met and started with a cup of tea. We headed to the deflation point, prepared ourselves for the drive and after a very brief brief we headed out. From what I felt @Asif Hussain had planned this very carefully and kept all eventualities in mind. All I can say is that there was non-stop action, from side slopping, to criss crossing, to climbing to the highest peaks, to driving cautiously through some nasty bumps and cross tracks, but mostly unspoilt smooth dunes.

They say all good things come to an end, but this was just an interval where we headed to the closest mosque for Friday prayers, a light lunch with shots of tea courtesy @Asif Hussain, some fresh coconut juice and snacks courtesy @EmVarlet, some egg mayo sandwiches courtesy @Gaurav and mango juice courtesy @skumar83. As the break got over I had a smart remark asking Asif bhai if he was going to take us to Naqrah dune by road, to which Gaurav bhai replied just wait for Asif bhai has it planned. Soon we were on a ride of our lives, as Srikumar remarked morning was an appetizer only, the real deal came only in the afternoon.

We made our way to the Naqrah Dunes in style as we flattened all razor sharp tops of every dune, as we criss crossed as if it wss meant to be done, as we side slopped all the way through an entire large dune. The journey to Naqrah Dunes was much more exciting than reaching our goal. Everyone has a go at climbing Naqrah dune from the front with limited success. We than decided to try from the back.

As we headed towards the back and were reminiscing the last few times we visited it, Gaurav bhai's AT light came on, after a short break and a splash of water we got the AT temps go back to operational. But this was the least of our troubles as there was a large sound from Srikumar's vehicle with a puff of smoke. We all jumped to action and Gaurav bhai had his fire extinguisher ready and a spade full of sand. As we popped the bonnet and inspected the damage it was the AC hose that had given away to pressure. We had to plug in the holes to make sure no dust went in. We have made a resolution not to venture behind the Naqrah dune again As we have faced some incident every time in that area.

As the sun started to set we found a nice dune to sit back, relax, reminisce some fond memories from the day with an Absolute spread. Departed, inflated and headed back home with plans for many more such adventures. I have added my few pics in the Gallery, looking forward to seeing everybody else's clicks. Till next time I bid you farewell.

  11. Unfortunately when genuine people like us need a proper mod to be done with all safety consideration we are sent back without permission. And just because some people are in a certain position and get permission they do these over the top mods where it catch fire after a roll like that.

The roll is simply because this dude has mod the vehicle beyond his control. He was trying to throw some sand by trying to drift, but there was too much weight on the front left tire and no counter steer, thus the flip.
