Ok, so I have two front tow hooks, and the 8 inch clearance. However, at the rear I dont have dedicated tow hooks. I have the tow hitch, which has two holes in it which look like they are designed to take a shackle or similar. What would you suggest?

    thanks

Hi @nr51mes the 2 holes you see on the hitch receiver are not for towing or recoveries. You would need to get something like in the image below that can be connected to the hitch receiver. I have seen these available at ACE. Also when buying, check that it is rated for the weight of the vehicle it is being used on.

Thank you for joining Friday Absolute Newbie drive, it was a pleasure to drive with you all. Being an absolute newbie you all did great and learned really well.

Moving forward you all will be joining the Newbie drives and not an Absolute Newbie drive anymore. Drives are announced every Sunday at 11 am, and they go live on Sunday at 7:00 pm. Due to the high demand, these drives get full in about 10 minutes, so please be online at 7 pm to book your spot. If you miss a spot, put your name on the waitlist asap. Generally, by Thursday with dropouts everyone does get a spot if they have waitlisted.

For the next drives, please bring along a deflator, pressure gauge, flag, compressor and radio as a minimum.

    • Learn to deflate your tires and checking them precisely
    • Learn to fix a flag on your car
    • Learn to program and fully charge your radio

Also like I mentioned during the debriefing, join the Carnity Whatsapp Drive Notification to get the latest updates on the drives, so that you can RSVP on time for the next weekend's drive.

Please have a look at below topic which describes the tools needed for every level. There is a separate tutorial inside which explains which radio we recommend and how to program them: (Please do not buy the Baofeng 888S spare radio we gave you, as these cannot be programmed without a special cable and software).

Please have a look at below grading structure that explains various off-road levels:

See you guys and gals soon on the sand again. Take care.

Hello, is it recommended to get Extreme body wash, which includes engine wash as well, after off-roading as the engine also gets very muddy?

@Ankit Jainit's not required to do a full body wash after every drive.  If you do just a regular wash, you can just ask them to use the compressed air to blow out all the sand from the engine bay.  Before they do that though, take a look at the engine bay yourself to see if sand is stuck anywhere or looks damp, if there is, that could mean you also have a leak that you may not notice after the engine bay is cleaned.

  6. Drive RSVP is now closed:

    Hello ladies and gents,

Here is the convoy numbering and order for tomorrows drive. We would be using Carnity radio channel 1, 446 006.25

If you do need to reach me in case of an emergency, my number is 052 6771O76.

Please make sure to go through the Absolute Newbie Video briefing as it is very important, failing to do so could lead to you being sent back.

Please be on time and make sure you have a full tank of fuel.

    See you'll in the sand.

    Hi….Good Day to all.

I drive 2018 Renault Koleos which is having front tow hook and rear tow hitch, I hope that’s ok.

Yeah vehicle is having 8+inch ground clearance.

Prior Experience : Been to Maleiha, Margam and few more places for camping but didn’t had much experience of driving on dunes.

Also want to confirm @Brette, have you taken Koleos earlier for the same.

@Rajat Vermayes we have had people with a Koleos join the absolute newbie drive before. The vehicle definitely has its limitations and as the driver you would need to be a little extra careful and understand its limitations.

We will run through that at the meeting point tomorrow before we start the drive.
