  1. I think I have decent experience to discuss this topic as I did few deal of buying the cars like hobby bisi in Emirates auction and I feel it’s a bit cheaper and what I understand from that is there are cars from the banks, court, police and from garages (who repair the accident vehicles) and so on... yes comparatively cheaper with market prices from used car markets and websites like dubizle, but the thing is we have to be smart enough to chose the right car to bid and win. It’s like a guess and proper inspection at the auction (as Emirates auction allows to check the car in start condition) you can select the cars and go to the auction center and surrender the Emirates ID and collect up to 5 keys and those can be checked and we can make our mind for the right choice and come home and start bidding only on the end time just before 5 mins, and if we have to fix the price for the car with all other charges and if worth to bid can continue else just forget and look for other cars, in terms of documents when u choose the vehicle check the terms and condition before as there are documents clearance upon payment and some will be have issues like court and other formalities which usually take more time

  3. Hi just had a repair on my front drive axles repair from the garage as I have chosen to go for repair rather replacing and now the car doing good and I have attached the pics of the ball joints, just to get more awareness about the repair wondering how the mechanic can fix without replacing the worn-out part as my garage had given repair warranty for 3 months and he promised it will last for at least 60k kms anyone have such experience before plz

For me, if it’s modern, start it, wait 5 seconds for the oil pump then drive it. The ECU will take care of the fuelling.

Old stuff is a faff if you’re not used to manual choke and carbs.

Shutoff is more important than startup, especially if you have a turbo car.

If you have been driving hard, let the car idle for a minute before you switch it off. Let’s the coolant circulate. If you just switch it off it can create hotspots.

I use to follow both as @Gauravand @Barry technics to start and stop the car use to give about 10-15 sec start and stop after 10-15sec it’s usually more not less, I have a question to ask do we need to switch the electronics for few seconds till the lights go off or we can start immediately without waiting.... I use to wait till the lights go off but seen many use to start immediately

    Hello Guys,

    I am joined carnity today.

I have 2013 , 3.8 Pajero. Every time I accelerate my car there is sound from rear end like jerk or back lash sound, specially in traffic where we need to accelerate the car more often. I checked with 2 garages. They said this is common 4X4 cars specially pajero's. They are not able to give what exactly this sound and how to rectify this.

Is this noise common in all pajero's.  Please advise.

    Thanks,

    Rohan

Hi @rohan I have 2009 pajero and exactly as u said I have same issue and as mentioned by @Srikumarits purely because of rear differential busses and control arm bushes worn out and it’s common for Pajero’s as I have noticed few of my friends cars and the solution is to change complete rear axle and differential bushes to have a calm an smooth ride I got quote from one of the garage for approx 2000 dhms and I dropped the plan to change 😜

Prado is my favorite and I have a soft corner for it. They are reliable and if your heart desires the Prado and price difference is not an issue for AED 85k you can get a brand new Pajero with one year free petrol, service and Salik. As the oils degrade over time I think the Prado needs a service every 10k kilometers or 6 months whichever comes first. So if major service is due in 20k kilometers you'll have to do that service within a year.

I have had bad experience buying from the dealers their second hand cars as once bought they start giving you huge bills during your service, if you point out that the car is under warranty they just tell you that warranty is for major parts like engine and gearbox while these are only wear and tear items. Plus they are overpriced compared to the market.

It's your choice, I like @Gaurav bhai advise of having one car for road and another for off road if your budget is AED 90k. My wife's car is still available and you can view and try it out any time.

Wish you luck with your decision.

I too agree with @Rahimdad the dealer used car warranty. I have bought a car and learned about this after I went to change my steering gear and got surprisingly that part cost 12000dhms from dealer and in market it cost only 4500 including labor. I approach dealer again, they don’t agree that as they can give warranty on their parts and workshop only. The most funny and surprising part was the warranty what they provide will cover to max 5000 and the remaining I have to pay to fix means I was fooled by the sales people when I bought the car.

surprisingly the odo was also tampered which I came to know later when I plan to sell one of the buyer told me

I also had this noise on cold start only. Then when I changed the oil to Castrol 10w40 Full Synthetic I have not noticed it. Will check once again tomorrow morning and update.

I have changed mine also with castrol 10 W40 full synthetic last month and I can see the results. Since I change my complete lube for all the overall mileage shown up some good progress as earlier I drive 100kms @14-14.5 ltr patrol and now I can see the gauge some times shows up 13.5-13.8 on long routes @100-110 kms speed.

also I have noticed my idle RPM went down from 800-900 to 400-500 with transmission Position D and AC on
