    DRIVE DETAILS

    Level:  Fewbie and above

    When:  23 April 2023, Sunday

    Meeting time:  7:00 AM  - Sharp (Without any exceptions)

    Approximate finish time: 11:00 AM

    Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 8-10 inches of ground clearance.

    What to bring along: Loads of water, snacks (for yourself), smiles, enthusiasm and willingness to learn.

    Mandatory off-road gears: Tire deflator, tire pressure gauge, compressor, walkie-talkie radio, off-road flag, shovel, first-aid kit and fire extinguisher.
     

    LIMITED SPOTS AVAILABLE

    • This drive is limited to 10 cars only. RSVP will close on FRIDAY - 12 PM
    • If the RSVP is full, you can add your name to the waitlist, once anyone drops, you will be moved to the RSVP list.
    • RSVP will close a day prior to preparing a convoy list.
    • Latecomers will be returned back - Without any exceptions.
    • Members without RSVP will be returned back - Without any exceptions.
    • Please withdraw your RSVP, if you aren't joining, so your spot can be taken by others.

    Two Day Fewbie Desert Drive - Liwa Crossing - Abu Dhabi - 21 Jan 2023

    What an amazing weekend we had in Liwa !! 

    First of all I want to thank my wonderful husband @Frederic to stay home with the kiddos and giving me the opportunity to lead my first Liwa crossing. 

    On the way to Liwa I had some difficulties with my alternator and I really feared that I wouldn't be able to lead but with the help of @Srikumar, @Gaurav Soni and 2 wonderful mecanics in Liwa town who were able to temporarily fix it, I made it to the meeting point ! 

    My whole fewbie convoy did really great and we were able to make it to waypoint 18 on time and without too much struggles. 

    Also the second day went quite smoothly with only a few refusals, one winch recovery and a pop out fix. 

    I want to thank everyone who joined  and also congratulate you for successfully completing the Liwa crossing !

    I noticed the pin point is right on top of the dune, if you are arriving in the dark, please stay on the sabhka just next to it so you don't get stuck trying to climb in the dark. I am pretty sure everyone is going to camp on the sabhka anyway.

    Good Morning everyone 

    I hope you are all as excited as I am for this weekends Liwa Crossing. 

    Please remember to go over the rules and drive preparation again so your vehicle and you are fully prepared for the drive. I would be devastated to sent someone back home on the meeting point  .... 

     

     

    • It is highly recommended to drive alone, as it's a very serious and demanding drive to stay focused at all times.
    • Maximum of one passenger allowed - No exceptions and trip lead will send you back.
      • Make sure that passenger has no fear of heights, motion sickness and have been to full-day off-road drives before.
      • As once we enter the desert, the only way out is from the other side, without any early exits for 100-150 kms.
    • Everything in your car should be strapped and secured - All vehicles will be checked by the trip lead.

     

    Drive Preparation: 

    • Your car should be in 100% pristine working condition, so double or triple check everything.
    • Full-size spare tire with a lug wrench to match your wheel nut size and its depth.
      • For aftermarket rims - Your lug wrench also needs to match the wheel nut depth.
    • As it's a long full-day drive, so catch up with enough sleep in advance.
    • 5-10 liter of water per person.
    • Snacks for breakfast, lunch, dinner and next day breakfast.
    • Keep your car as light as possible by packing what is truly essential.
    • Fully charged radio with spare battery and all other required off-road gears.
    • Gas tank and required number of jerry cans should be full upon arrival.

    I would also recommend to everyone to bring 1 bag of wood each for the Saturday night camping, that way the wood is divided over more than one car and we will be definitely have enough wood to make a big camp fire to keep us warm. 

    For people camping on the Friday evening, make sure you are as close as possible to the meeting point and you have refueled your car because you might not have time anymore in the morning. 

    I want everyone to be at the meeting point at 7 am sharp, if you are late, I might leave you behind !

    That’s the total fuel that you have to have so inside the tank and jerrycan together 😁

    I am sorry @Tharun Kumar V but even if you complete 2 Fewbie drives in the weekend and the Fewbie weekday drive tomorrow, you still only have 4 drives by then so you are still not eligible to join the Liwa drive.
