Hi Fred. Is it OK to bring a ‘passenger’ on this?
My wife, just as unfit as me, but capable of an easy pace and I have just had her serviced😬- 3

So pleased to have made it from the waitlist and looking forward to following your tracks 😃

@Fredericjust thinking ahead but if I normally deflate to 12 for soft sand what would you recommend for the expected variable terrain?

So here is the final plan of action for tomorrow's big day at big red dunes.
First, we will focus on drivers' individual shots at steering or outside their car before we get sandblasted.
Then we will find the good slopes for capturing action shots by splitting the convoy into two groups.
I positioned smaller focal length lens at entry and exit, and longer ones at numbers 2 and 3.
We will try both different positionings based on each dune and how cars are able to deliver sand splashing.
Group 1
- Nathan Fujifilm XT-4 with a 24-80mm
- Varun Nikon D5100 with a 50mm, a 50-200mm
- Gaurav Nikon D750 + 28-300mm (f3.5-5.6G) Nikon ED VR lens
- Richard Franks Cannon EOS 4000D. 18-55
- @Gilbert Khalil Please update
Group 2
- Veedooshee Nikon D7200, Lens is 18-140mm
- Ilya Sony A7R and 28-200
- Richard Franks Cannon EOS 4000D. 70-300
- Chinthaka Sony A6600 camera with 18-135 Lens
- Rawad No cam
@Richard Franks I have positioned your daughter in both groups (with diff lenses) as I'm short of one cameraperson, hope she is fine with that. If not, ill replace her with Anish (if he is coming with Vee) or myself.
When the group 1 cameras are placed all around on slope, entry, and exit, then Group 2 cars will start taking turns to climb and deliver action shots (need not be the highest climber, simple sand splashing - will brief tomo on this). As soon as the first car exit the slope, the second car will enter by itself so that we can maximize the action on each slope. Each group car will have two attempts on each slope to splash enough sand.
I expect set-up and positioning will take more time than cars passing one by one, so raise your tolerance and be supportive to each group, remember we are trying this for the first time, so we will learn a lot from this experiment to improvise. I hope we can have some good action shot on 4-5 tall slopes before it gets too hot.
Please carry a cap/hat, sunglasses, and a lot of water and beverages, as it's gonna be a field trip tomorrow.
Charge your camera batteries, radio and do carry your tripod if you have (not mandatory).
To keep the convoy order simple, Im replicating the group order above which may not be very good for drives experience, so I might tweak it if we face any drive difficulty tomo.
Convoy Numbering
- Gaurav Silver Pajero
- Nathan Grey Jimny
- Varun Black Jeep Wrangler
- Richard Franks Red Jeep Wrangler
- Gilbert Black FJ Cruiser
- Veedooshee White Pajero
- Ilya White Wrangler
- Chinthaka Silver Xterra
- Rawad Blue Patrol Y62
Of Course no problem. May need a little more clarification but we will be ready for anything and will bring a Tripod

Thanks Ale. I learnt s great deal and thank you. Now I am in Europe where I am reminded by the clarity of the sky (no dust) but the lack of dunes☹️ but they do have trees😁
