to be fair, @Looper was often replying to you guys while my baofeng (with antenna) was only receiving static. And I was in 2nd position:
- [somebody]: shhh shhs shhs
- [Looper]: copy that, slowing down
- [somebody]: shhh shhs shhs
- [Looper]: it's OK, standing by- 2

Intense drive, thank you all! @Looper, awesome mix of tech and fast driving!

front diff grinding sound can be caused by half-locked solenoid... so he's onto something. Nonetheless the leak is also something to address (and fast) regardless of the root cause of the problem there...

and THAT is something they were not able to identify at al habtoor? I mean - have they even looked under the car?
does every driver in this country need to be a mechanic in order to have a reliable car?

...I was going 70km/h till I reached my place and pulled my washer... what a boring ride
Next time I'm going to have a portable power washer for occasion like this one. It's mad how much mud got inside my rims...

for people with cute little fuel tanks ... adnoc at Sweihan seems to be the last refuel place, or are there any other stations on the E16 that are not listed on maps?

Good drive, gents! thank you for the opportunity! @Andrew John Melvill you were on top of things today!
@Shaun J I hope you managed to get yours washed before picking up Mrs from the airport:
And the entire crew during rescue mission:
@Luke K P, I'm intrigued by your red beast! Awesome looking ride!

yeah, I read it. They got me with the "formalities". If that's not RTA approved, I don't have time to play cat and mice with them and re-do it every time I need to do inspection... not worth the effort. I'll just get a car with more suspension travel in stock setup...

Well... it got nicely trimmed this time... I'll need couple more drives to shave it on the other side too

thanks gents, 3h 8m driving with speeds often exceeding 70km/h - I didn't know @Islam Soliman from this side! Very aggressive and demanding drive! @Ishak, I hope you will not have any issues finding the right shop to quickly balance your wheel. Have a great weekend gents!

@Islam Soliman can you share the meeting point estimate? I would like to know which way is the wrong way (e.g. I am not sure if I will be able to get up at 3AM if we will approach Faqa from Abu Dhabi side ).
So just to be clear where is this drive going to start...

thanks @Emanuel, I'll ask you once again after a few drives. G015s seem like the perfect compromise. I got mine HT shattered during one drive but still got a pair of new 39s instead of a set of 15s. Who knows, maybe the next set will finally be 015 based on your recommendation.

Is 015 worth if you do desert drives? I decided that for this one or two rock-climbs a year getting 015s makes zero sense... 039 (H/T) is perfect for the desert. It's a controversial opinion and a lot of folks might disagree, but I don't need the grippy tread tires for the sand...
Or do I?

I added a few more pics to the gallery from this drive. Enjoy!

Some of the best looking ridge riding attempts below:
@Shaun J I just realized I don't have a single "dramatic" picture of your car's crossing - that's how smooth you were with the throttle...
And since I had to keep up after our lead, there was no time to catch him in the act. So I got this instead, @DP1011

Good drive! Good vibe!
Weird weather today... low light isn't so good for taking high speed photos, so I'm testing new lightroom version that came out with this "AI-enriched denoise". And it's ... nice!
The color of @Mahmut's Jeep makes it so photogenic!
@Shiju Raju as promised:
Stay tuned for more...

mine is sorta/kinda lazy there too... and usually it takes a while to engage - sometimes I have to move a few meters forward so it engages, but it does it eventually. I am curious what can be the reason. let's hear from experts...

@Gurcharan Mehta, I think it's time to change your avatar
Following the 500hp monster up the hill isn't easy in an under-powered and beat-up pajero, but I believe I did achieve something last night and managed to keep up just right (often had to give @Gurcharan Mehta a lot of space before speeding up as his great car does not need any runway, unlike mine - that's why @Cristian asked me why I'm not moving - I just needed much more space to speed up before the climb).
And I believe we did that 2000 m, didn't we @Ale Vallecchi ?
Some of the ridges were bumpy but fun nonetheless. @Sunil Mathew on that photo looks almost as if trying to take off:
After visiting badayer and lisali desert so many times, I am pleased to see there are so many tall dunes here, and you don't really need to drive all the way to Abu Dhabi to have a decent view:
I hope you guys enjoyed the ride as much as I did! Thank you all and see you next time!

nice! see you during F+ drives now!

My first F+ drive and I immediately realized how big of a difference it is: everybody on time; straight to business and ready to go; I was the only one getting refusals and there was only one weird popout but @Fabien Monleau fixed it even before we all looped back to help (amazing job). I understand where @Looper got his nickname! The loops were often brutal and very demanding, but fun nonetheless. It was intense like never before since I joined - often reaching rev-limit on second gear in my humble dune buster (approx 110km/h) going around the slope... that's a G force I did not expect!
Some of the loops:
And some more:
I guess the only way it's possible is because of the weather - you can go around and around over the same tracks without destroying the dune - that's how compacted it was...
Thank you all for the opportunity to drive with you gents!

Mine started blinking couple months back during one desert drive. But restarting the car did it for the next couple of days... But it comes back. And as Frederic mentioned - it's related to the vacuum system. Funny enough - ever since amazon delivered the part, I have not seen the blinking thing since. I keep the solenoid in the glove box so I can replace it if needed, but so far it didn't come back (since Dec). I told myself that I would replace it anyways next time I'm working on the car... and I forgot completely until I saw this post.

Man of numbers! Respect. I am only missing the fuel consumption stats here.
