NissanDxb
The Altima is Nissan’s mid-size car, available in both sedan and coupe forms and as such pitched largely against Honda’s Accord. The Altima name has been used since 1993, but the most recent incarnation was introduced in 2007. The sedan is pitched as a practical, five-seater family car while the Coupe is a much more sporty affair. For 2010 the sedan was given a facelift, with a new fascia and headlights, new wheels and a revised interior. Two grades of sedan are available – S and SR, each of which feature different engines. The S comes with a 2.5-litre, four-cylinder unit that produces 179bhp while the SR comes with a 3.5-litre V6 making 270bhp. Both are mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Features include Bluetooth phone connectivity and an Intelligent Key, which lets owners open and start the car without removing the key from their pocket or bag. The Coupe is shorter and lower than its four-door sibling and is powered by the 3.5-litre V6 engine, although its sporty aspirations are slightly numbed by its use of the CVT rather than a regular automatic or manual gearbox choice. The 2010 Coupe has received a redesigned face inspired by the Maxima. It’s available only in SE trim, which rides on 18-inch alloy wheels and comes with a push button start, Bluetooth and a Bose sound system. Safety-wise, the Altima scores well with ABS, traction control, electronic stability control and electronic brakeforce distribution standard on all models.
