Hello Folks, my apologies, only able to post just now. 1. Visiting the Aftermarket shops in SHJ, behind Sahara & near the Tire shops, I found only one shop selling the spoiler in Grey, cost including installation was AED 450, last price quoted was AED 420. I skipped this. 2. Next I visited the user spare shops in Sajaa, but could not find any event after trawling about for ~2 hours. . So the hunt continues

@Javier M point is very valid and I think Satnav main reason for dying is the proprietorship on maps and its exorbitant pricing. Every brand will define the roads in their own ways and design the sat nav to use in its own way. Big learning curve if you are changing cars often or drive multiple cars. I have never able to use Satnav just because of this reason and I was happy to carry my brick size Garmin in all my cars from 2005-2010 and then phones replaced that Garmin standalone device too. Maybe when car manufacturer understand that adding one universal standard maps for free is good for the user, then it can kick off this again as I hate using my phone too but that's the most viable and practical way atm. I can save my phone battery and data for better things.

For me it is more convenient to use the car's nav than to reach for my phone. Whenever I travel I always rent a car with satnav or with the garmin that way I don't have to use my phone's data while roaming. I don't think that you necessarily pay extra just for the satnav but for the other extras of the car (sunroof, leather seats, etc.) and the satnav just comes along with the other extras. The problem is that car dealers charge a lot of money to update the map so you end up with an outdated satnav in a brand new car. This happened to me last time I purchased a new car, the dealer wanted to charge me 1500 aed just to update the maps. I said thank you but no thank you. So if car dealers keep this attitude yeah it will be dead pretty soon.

I remember way back when, where if you had a car with satnav, it was something special. Even now it is still being sold on new cars as an add on bonus. Then cheap portable satnavs like the garmin came out and made finding your way easy, even if it did direct you into a lake sometimes. In the modern day where everyone has a smartphone with google maps, waze, maps.me etc, is the day of the satnav over? Would you pay extra for a car with satnav? And if so, why?

yes satnav is dying or changing, when its easier to have updated maps on you phone today and a lot of cars today comes with some think like carplay to connect to a iphone or android it uses the phone like a builtin so i believe that is the future.

Be careful of pattern parts v original parts. Nothing against the aftermarket, there are some amazing parts available if you know what’s going on. The new genuine Mitsubishi lifters have a big hole. Old Mitsubishi parts have a small hole. If you’re buying pattern parts, I’d recommend buying one aftermarket and one genuine and comparing them. Every man loves a big hole 😂

And these offers do help than paying at regular rates. I like this time smartness of Dubai Police to tie the percentage with the behavior correction x time, that will help bring a lot of good behavior on Dubai roads (I seriously hope).

I don’t like things like this. I’ve seen people save their fines and wait for discounts. It kinda takes away from the fact you’re getting fined for breaking the law. People make mistakes but some just keep pushing and pushing the limits. Offenders should be punished and punished hard. No mercy.

I remember the discounts because of Ramadan. Every year they come up with something. I have the feeling that most hardcore overspeeders are now laughing out loud, and will take another car which has another license plate (wife's car maybe) for a while to avail their discounts. But on the other hand, kudos to Dubai Police for at least starting these initiatives and thinking out of the box mentality. It shows that they are progressive thinkers and open for new systems.

I think you are right, but I feel the way Dubai Police thinking is for the majority of road users who are usually good driver but get caught for occasional speeding or wrong parking by chance, to give them a second chance. The driver who is speeding regularly will be difficult to change his/her habit for the next 3 months let alone a year and still end up paying the regular fine.

Should be depending on the type of fine. For smaller fines like parking tickets this system is a great idea. For serious offenses like speeding way beyond the legal limit one should be punished hard, and no discount should make up for the risk you’ve brought upon others.

@Jocreative we all have commitments yet we are doing these Friday trips and leave our personnel matters for Saturday. I will not be able to do regular trips on Saturday, however I can try to post a Saturday trip once In a while. Floor is open to other experienced members if they can post Saturday drives.

It would be worth checking out the clutch too and changing it if it’s worn. Easier and cheaper to do when the engine is already out rather than pay someone to remove the gearbox to do it later on.

Yes,it is possible. When water (or large amounts of water vapor) is present in the cylinder the water takes up some of the volume of the cylinder, hence, higher compression pressure. Once the water is expelled through the valves the compression pressure will fall back down to about normal- depending on the size of the leak path in the gasket, or worse, the size of the crack in the cylinder head. However, as someone else mentioned, it is best to these types of test with the fuel system disabled to protect the catalytic converter when the engine starts again. Nonetheless, bear in mind that the object of a compression test in these circumstances is not to find a definitive compression pressure; it is to determine the position of the leak, which will be on the cylinder(s) with the lowest compression pressure.

Been there done that, last year spent and entire day lying flat on an engine trying to undo one 10mm nut that was sandwhiched between the back side of the motor and the firewall , it was not visible so it had to be done by feel and could get only a quarter turn at a time, once spent an entire week trying to pull out an axel half shaft out from the front differential tube one side came out quitely without any issue but the other side was hung up on something, tried everything, heating, pullers, impact guns, jacks.Opened the diff cover so see if we could trying to massage it out from that side or a C clip we were not seeing Seemed like it was welded in their, we were even caught by the cops and taken to the police station because we were working so late at my buddys shop one day. Not a good sight with three greasy dudes looking very suspect at a police station. Eventually we all gave up and changed the entire front diff tube with a used one from the scrappies

The head gasket not only seals the cylinders but also seals the oil and coolent in between the head and block so there can be gasket failure yet you might find compression numbers up to company specs... compression test only indicates how well a displacement chamber is sealed if you have the factory numbers to compare them with....and just incase there is a leak in the chamber you can further diagnose it to pin point it to rings or valves by pouring some engine oil in it to seal the Piston sides and get new readings and compare those with dry readings If the misfire is continuous then you should check the flow pattern and spray quantity of injectors P.s if only driving on and off road and being a cloud nine machanic has made you loose your rocker then you really don't have the slightest idea of profanity,rage and inventions of swearing up and down goes through. when working for one too many days and yet sometimes being still on square 1 feels like . Or being in middle of something really delicate and that tool slides through in to the engine bay and you using up all the scheduled time only to find that instead of fixing it .or stripping of that bolt which is placed in that corner of the world where only your 2 finger goes only to feel it's head and a spanner only runs quarter of a inch This work has turned me swearing like a sailor but I try really hard to be as professional and all ears so I can be remembered with good words and good works

Who knows what the Renault drivers were smoking when they dreamed this up. I know a few Renault employees in France and most of them spend their days drinking red wine and smoking hashish. Someone had the bright idea to cut the rear passenger seat out and drop in a 2.9 v6 engine coupled to a 6 speed manual box. 3 different models were built, the king having 285 bhp. An insane amount of horsepower in such a tiny car. These cars were produced is small numbers and many were written off due to inexperienced drivers. Original examples command a high premium now.
