Well, get the basic industrial shovel for 10-15 dhs that comes with wooden handle and metal scoop. And keep trying the full metal, as it's always a good practice to keep two shovels because many times when you are stuck everyone will come near your car to inspect and then go back to there car to get shovels. If you have two that can speed up recovery faster.

With the summer coming closer, we will go a little deeper into the dangers of being exposed to the extreme heat UAE brings to us. During off-roading, some activities such as recovery work, replacing tyres, and dealing with pop-outs, are physically demanding, and many of us who are in office jobs are not trained to cope with this amount of heat. Luckily with the help of some basic things, we can minimize the risk of below mentioned issues. The following risks are identified: Heat exhaustion: Warning signs: A person may suddenly look pale. Heart rate will increase and the victim may complain of feeling dizzy and nauseous. A feeling of weakness is also common. What to do: Seek shade immediately and lie down, especially if you’re feeling lightheaded. Apply a cold compress to the forehead and remove extra layers. Heat Stroke: Warning signs: Heat stroke is a type of hypothermia where the body temperature is greatly elevated. If not treated immediately it can be fatal. Symptoms are similar to those of a heart attack, along with nausea, headaches, hallucinations, difficulty in breathing, and agitation, What to do: apply cool water to the skin and place ice packs under the arms to reduce the temperature quickly. Preventive Measures: • Sip some water all day long, rather than just when you are thirsty. If you are thirsty it means you are already dehydrated. • Wear light clothing that can "breathe", but also wear sunblock and keep your head protected with a cap or hat. • Some fruit and vegetables can re-hydrate the body even more than water. Carry some in your cooler. • Water is important, but too much water can be dangerous as it can cause electrolyte depletion. Limit yourselves to 2-3 liters per day. • When recovering a vehicle in full sun, limit your exposure time and take some rest every couple of minutes. Because you are focused on the task at hand, you might completely forget the heat and become dizzy and exhausted. • If at some point you feel unwell, inform your club members immediately. When driving, inform immediately over the radio so the convoy can be stopped. • Keep an eye out for your fellow club members. It is relatively easy to recognize above symptoms in somebody else. Let them take appropriate rest. Please do share your tips, hints, experiences !

Hi Guys, Here is a link to the video one of our supporters made. I was lucky enough to be sitting in the Navigation seat with the Great Mark Powell, as we thundered across the Choppy desert. Much more technical than Al Qudra races prior We achieved a solid 2nd place, and it was the first Rally ive finished both rounds in, and my first off-road podium.

Hi Guys, I need to get some upper control arms for my 3 inch lift on my 2008 Fortuner, Its a pretty common arm, same as fitted on 2007-15 FJ and also, Tacoma and Hilux. I wanted to get a decent one such as a totalChaos, Camburg or something along those lines with a Uni Ball instead of the rubber boot. Has anyone seen anything like this in shops around town, or do i need to order in.. they retail for about $725USD in the states, so not cheap, but usually in this town it means 1120USD ++++++ Any advice welcome Cheers James

Which you will choose and why? I am evaluating smartwatch evolution from last few years and I think now it has reached to a stage where I can ditch my old fashion timepiece due to sturdiness, battery life and varies watch faces available with these wearable smart watches now. I'm not a smartwatch kind of a guy yet, so prefer to hear from someone who is using one on actual things to consider before buying your first smartwatch. I'm confused between Samsung watch 4 - 46mm vs Apple watch 4 - 44mm.

Hi, it's good to know that you have some experience of off-road driving. However, if it's your first drive with Carnity, for your own safety, it's advised to join the Newbie driving for the proper briefing. After or during the first drive you can share your experience with the senior members and you would be promoted faster through the ranks. We have had a few guys who got promoted to Fewbie level after the first drive. Promotions thereafter depend on your driving level, tools and gear that you have, etc.

i believe what happened with him is what happened with me couple of times... i join the drive without knowing, i click on "going" to see who is going, and i end up joining without noticing, still happens to me.

@dberclaz I have noticed you have signed up for this drive. This is an intermediate level drive. I would suggest that you join the Newbie Drive which is at the same timing. Drive details is provided below:

@Gaurav bhai you have used both smart phones and now understand that they do similar tasks, only treated differently by the OS used. Same way Smart watches offer you that functionality on your wrist. Now which smart phone is quicker, more efficient, gives you options not available on the other, example, Motion X is not available on Android. If you still cannot reach a decision, please try out each one from their respective stores and ask a staff to walk you through some of the daily used options. Which one do you find easier to use, which one has better skins for the watch functionality, better voice clarity, better visually, feels better on your wrist, etc. I have personally not used a smart watch, nor intrigued by them to research further, but everything is as per your preference, do not go with what everybody else prefers, just make your decision based on your preference. Do share which one you choose and why?

Guys, i believe 2016 prado does not have Garmin maps. Yesterday, when i tried to use navigation for couple of seconds screen read as below. Any prado owners tried this to update can share their experience.

Last wednesday I got in my car and saw the light below go off on my dashboard. I noticed the cruise control was not working. According to the manual, the light indicates the ESC is malfunctioning. (Oh oh) I get home and run the scanner and I got code C123F-Steering Angle Sensor comparative performance One Google search later and found that the possible causes for C123F are the following and started assessing which are more likely to be. Vehicle damage - Not very useful Steering column/intermediate shaft damage - Not likely Steering wheel alignment - Aha! this might be Steering Angle Sensor loose - Although this is possible it is less likely - this was going to be my next option after wheel alignment. Clockspring (SAS) improperly installed (wrong mounting position) - Not likely Clockspring (SAS) - Not likely Antilock Brake System (ABS) Module - This sounds expensive I did noticed the steering wheel was a little misaligned after the last offroad trip, I was going to mention to the shop on the next maintenance so they can have it sorted, since now I had a code I started troubleshooting from the steps listed here. Since the Steering wheel misalignment was more than 15° degrees I decided to take it to the shop for alignment. Twenty minutes and 300 aed later the car was ready. I take it out, pulled over the car and erased the code with the scanner and started driving, as a precaution I prefered to sit out the next off-road drive. As I did not want any issues while I was off-roading. So far that seemed to do the trick, it's really a pain with all of this sensors nowadays in all cars, they are there for a reason but they could be a burden sometimes. Anyway, I hope this helps for any other Jeep owner outhere in the future.

Thanks @Barry, the good 'ol rev to 3K for 15 second intervals to bleed the lifters. I will try this with no expectations (but with high hopes) since I understand that this works for rattly lifters from start-up.

Now that's the case of shady workmanship or sub standard or non rated parts. Nothing to do with car. Even my Pajero was about to go up in flames as aux fan switch shorted because it was installed without a fuse with a bad quality Chinese switch, but this all failed when I was driving. Who wired your car to leave live ignition switch when car was turned off.....?

It does happen. I’ve seen it a few times but it’s not an every day thing. My car went on fire because of a faulty ignition switch. Shorted out, dropped some hot plastic on the floor and the whole thing burnt. I’ve seen other cars burn because of small oil and fuel leaks. Little bit drops on a hot part of the engine, smoulders and ignites. It doesn’t take much to start a fire.

IMO it’s only news because it’s a Tesla and Tesla is one of the big buzzwords at the minute. I had a Volkswagen that spontaneously burnt itself to the ground because of an electrical fault but that wasn’t on the news.

Gaurav is right of course, but few people carry water consumption calculators, and when they do, they don't always take them seriously. Nonetheless, a rule of thumb that I learned during my military service in the Namib desert is that drinking a liter of water every hour (spread out over an hour) keeps you more evenly hydrated than drinking a liter of water once every hour. And as @shadow79 said, adding a tiny pinch of salt and a few drops of glucose to every liter of water you take during a hot day goes long way toward maintaining your electrolyte levels.
