Hi, guys! Just want to warn some of you who have not heard about new Abu Dhabi restriction. If it is foggy in Abu Dhabi emirate, then speed limit on E11, E311 and some other roads is lowered to 80km/h. Drivers should be notified by electronic boards over the road or LED signs on the right side of the road. The thing is these boards and signs do not work! But cameras work perfectly! So you can get 4 or 5 fines easily even if you drive as slow as 90-100km/h. Also sometimes you might think that visibility is absolutely perfect but cameras still set to 80 km/h. Anyone has a contact of good Mig welder in Dubai, Sharjah or Ajman for automotive welding? It's a small welding job, but need a credible welding workshop whose work will have no issues with RTA passing. We checked with RTA and they readily accept MIG weld jobs. Thanks in advance.

Have one in Ajman that I know of and does quality work but asks quality money too gave my Rav to him for fixing...

I would just take it to a shop to be checked, in the long run it saves you so much headaches. There is no price for my peace of mind. Before I buy a used car I like to look at the statistics of failure rate of important components like the transmission, engine or electricals. I like to use sites like carcompliants.com where I can see the complains for each model and helps me determine the clunkers.

I guess we all have bought a few lemons in our lifetime and every time life throws a lesson at you. I'm still stuck with the issue that i sometimes tend to completely fall in love with a car and overlook all the technicalities and pros and cons. I've also bought quite some cars that i knew had some issues and fixing to do, but that helped me in knocking down the price and then get a reliable mechanic to do a decent repair and do some other fixes myself too. Many junkyard worthy cars i bought ended up looking 10x better after a year and always sold them at a decent price. If i can choose between losing money on depreciation, or buying an old car and putting some money down to restore it to its former glory, i'd go for the second option as i gives me more satisfaction.

Recently I went for few car checks some cars really shine there if it's clean car you might not even need to drive it but some cars you need to look at every nooks and corner they hide sloppy body works where the paint is cracked and good knows with what they stick together the frame .have seen car only being serviced by Al futaim but had lower cover and fender liners tied by metal string's as per the seller....it's a tricky thing... The seller is singing the song that he has the best thing in the market but as you get a closer look and confront the seller all of sudden he becomes a surprised cat cought up in the lights or the second owner or he is just selling it for a friend who left the country or straight away leaves without a word..it takes much time and patience to get your hands on something worth it...

When there is only 1 or 2 parts shop of certain brands then they talk as if they own your ass and also is alot of hassle when some part is bad and they still argue that it was from a running car and you should see your problem somewhere else instead of changing the same part for the gazillionth time as whatever they have is crap... I had the pleasure of fixing a euro Ford after much back and forth then towing the car itself there (as it had no plates) and spend the whole day till closing time only changing 2 sensors and taking a small round while reading live data

All you need is one or two Good parts shop and a scrappy to make your life easy. That's all I've needed to make my 15 plus year Land Rover ownership a breeze. Since you own or owned a P38 you should also know Gulfstar and National Auto also have good quality and very reasonably priced Jaguar aftermarket parts. Just need sensible ownership and stay on top of things. Invest in a little time and learn about the car. Join some popular jag forums and learn the in and outs of the car. Can't recall the amount of headache and money saved because of a good active forum.

After long wait seeing this feature in waze and sygic, finally google maps decided to show small real time speed icon on down left of screen today morning when I used after some time. Not sure since how long this has been added, but its pretty recent. Dr. Google, please add the road limit icon too on the right side like sygic did it very nicely, many years back. As many time we run out of options to guess from 80-100-120 and then fall on 60 road with photo clicked at price of 600 dhs.

Haha!! even I might have graduated that night by listening to your stories. but unfortunately the hard landing sort of freaked me out, but anyways all well now and the bumper was fixed in less than 10 minutes so I'm all ready for the next drives.

Car checks get as tricky as compared to a innocent person who has a very simple face and look but the mind is a devils workshop. Most of used car dealers keep the cars perfect from the exterior body line is clean and looks as good as new but the main things to check out is the engine and the wiring as I have come across some cars in uae with chassis being cut and welded from centre. That's 1/2 car body attachment. Also we see a lot of vehicles who's engine has been changed or even gear box so when you take this vehicle for passing the rta guys will ask you to go back to the showroom or service centre of the particular brand and get that verified and need a company stamp on documentation. I suggest it makes sense in paying 500dhs or whatever charges and get the vehicle checked before buying it. Cause once you have purchased it then you are forced to use it is the same way it is.

Left field suggestion, MX 5. Realistically you can’t use a 300 bhp car much here other than accelerating from 80-120 on the 311. Unless you’re doing track days at the autodrome, then it makes sense. MX 5 has less power but the handling is second to none and it’s a good car you can use every day and not have to worry about ENOC raping your wallet every 2 days. Plus it’s rare here, so it stands out more than the generic mustang or camaro.

In Turkey we have some. They are very good. But here there is Peugeot 207 RC available with manuel gearbox and 1.6 turbo engine good up to 350hp.

Know this is an old post but i have to give my 2 cent! I have had a Toyota corolla T-sport it had 200hp but small as a shoe box and with some lowering coil-overs its below 15k aed and oh my its a fun car to drive!

2 years in KSA from a beginner to intermediate level sand driving. 1 Newbie + Fewbie drive with Emirates Offroaders 5- 6 drives with Carnity including the Iftar bowl participation and the previous Fewbie night drive where I broke my Pajero rear bumpers though got the bash plates installed now and the front bumpers trimmed 😎 2 early morning drives with Dune Riders, Al Ain

What is your previous offroad experience? And how many drives you have completed with Carnity? I have assigned newbie as of now, but we might change it to fewbie based on your experience.

Meh, nothing in this world will convince me sitting on motor unstrapped to anything, open to the elements is ever going to be safe. And that's the thing. I can go anyways in my shorts, t-shirt wearing my flip flops in a car and expect a certain level of safety and comfort. Instead of having to place a metal can over my head, bullet proof pants and jackets. I'm going out to meet friends not stop a riot!

Actually I want to get a 1998 5.9 ZJ Grand Cherokee. Than I can complete the all serie of Grand Cherokee.

Although I do see a trend here. Staring with the newer jeep and working your down. Very soon you'll own a willys jeep.

I advertised for a mechanic last week and got 800 applications. I can’t even sort through the applications I need someone to make me a good cv, something to stand out. Will pay cash for a proper one

I’ve had a lot of family and close friends die on bikes. I can say the same for cars. There’s no need to dress like a power ranger these days. A pair of Kevlar jeans and a proper leather jacket that didn’t come from global village will offer you good protection. The problem are these people known as “shrimps”. You know the type, hayabusa or gsxr with extended swing arm, riding in shorts, t shirt and flip flops. These people give honest bikers a bad name. I will bless them though because they are a source of organs for sick people

Not a bad price to be honest if you’re planning on keeping the car. I’ve charged people more just to remove and refit a gearbox, not including repair work.

No please, don't even drive with the faulty gear. It may catch instant and uncontrollable fire in no time. I have seen one recently and hot gear oil spread the fire under dashboard and foot well in seconds.

Used parts wise it only has 2 full jaguar shop in Sharjah apart from sporadic one two cars here or there Just remember one thing when it's less on road the probability to find good used parts go more lower And also new parts will always be on order and sometimes even after ordering you won't get them I really appreciate those old jags but owning one is not going to happen So in short I am going to say unless you buying it new with warranty or else leave it...

For me, more than the route and ETA it's about knowing if there is any incident or accident on the road. The updates on Google maps are reasonably quick following a traffic incident.

I was asking which year models are preferred, for eg 2006 onward or between 2007 to 210 etc.. Just to understand which year model had many issues or not. Thanks anyway for the input. The AJV8 is a super reliable engine supercharged or NA also being used in the 2006 and above range rovers and also easier to work on than the 6 cyl Bits as usual are slightly more than your avg econobox bit there are jag scrappies in shj that can help. Other than that the usual buy the best amd most well maintained you can afford. Although the XR-F is the sporty version and real sweet!
