I dunno now but before AC Delco had a real nice site that let you do this for American cars. Or one can in most cases just lookup the part manufacturer and number off the bit itself and look it up. Like most ac compressors are made by denso from jap to eurp exotics. Electric bits by magnetto marielli or something like that. Most europeans cars have a lot of valeo bits.

Doing work on own car ain't gonna pay bills you see so I have to make do with whatever I got and always cross my fingers that it lasts for awhile but doing work for my customers I have to keep in mind that they don't have any expertise so I have to make it proper so it lasts...

It's a daily hire for around AED 270 which isn't bad at all. But recently used a Peugeot 206 from my office on SZR to home in Sharjah and cost me just under AED 50 for a per minute use. Hated the initial experience as code was not sent on my email and had a real rare rude Filipino telling me no way I did not receive the code. However a helpful agent on my second call send me the code and I was on my way. Cost me less than taxi. Could drive it myself rather than at the mercy of a taxi driver. Free Patrol and free parking just about made up for a bad start.

@Shamil thank you for understanding and I am glad you got your throttle body sorted out, On road it took 2 days for the problem to recur, but in the desert it could have reared it's ugly head at the worst of maneuvers and spoilt the fun plus could have got you into a terrible position. Better safe than sorry. @Frederic thank you for sharing your point of view, it is always good to read through the experience from another persons point of view. Hope your clutch is not giving you any troubles. I love to see you grow in Carnity in regards with your level, it has been just as smooth as the rhythms you adore. Love your attitude and we should be more careful with the time we finish as everybody is tired by the fag end of the week and on our last drop of adrenaline pushing us through. Good point raised and we will be more careful with timing in the future drives.

So this is basically a lease with an option to buy. They just put a different name.. 🤣 They will make a lot of money, they just want you to keep paying them that monthly payment and at the end if you did not exceed the mileage agreed you can exchange it for another car or buy the car. At the end they will get more money from you. Plus you must maintain it with them.

That's very strange, are you sure they have understood you correctly that you wanna buy....? Why would any dealer refuse for test drive when they pay 100's of dollars for getting 1 test drive lead from marketing agencies.

The guaranteed minimum value that they will give for your car will be ridiculously low, considering that they have to keep a safety margin based on the cars condition, prepping the car for selling through their own second hand branches, and make a buck on it. I have seen a very similar thing in Europe called 1–2-3 contract on brands like Opel and a few others. I took this deal on one of my first cars and after three years they gave me a laughable low price to take over my car, for reasons described above, although the car was in pristine condition. Ended up keeping the car and paying off the remaining balance myself.

How do you expect me to step out in traffic to throw bucket of water? Only in stop and go traffic it drops the cooling little and become fine when moving or sitting idle in a breathable space like parking, road side, red light etc.

I totally get the wrapping thing if you have a super valuable car of which you want to keep the original paint intact and if you have plans to keep the car for a very long time. For a regular commuter car it’s nonsense. Same as keeping the plastic on the seats and interior. Makes you look like one of the Goodfellas Mafia guys.

The ones who get smeared on bonnet and front glass can be cleaned but also always take a look in through the grill coz the ones which get on the condenser can have the tendency to block air circulation...

For all my toyota needs when I had a land cruiser. I used Khyber spare sparts on BMW rd. Not only authorized toyo parts sellers. They brought is parts daily from Oman which were cheaper. Even if not in stock and you could order before 1pm and next day part would arrive cheaper than the rest and original toyo stuff.

The price mostly different at different spare parts shops as they all get at different % discount from the dealership..plus their own running cost is also added and profit margin...

I have worked in automotive manufacturing and all manufacturers would sell the parts to the car companies so they would just put them in a box that said Nissan, Toyota, Mitsubishi, etc. but the manufacturers would also sell them as other brands but it was exactly the same part inside. With the only exception that the "genuine brand" part would sell twice as expensive. Granted, there are quality standards that "some" car companies would require to the manufactures, but once that is set they would have the same production standards to all products.

My previous car was Dubai registered and i had an accident in 2017 in RAK; This showed up in MOI website. however, i had one more in 2018 in Dubai which did not. so i am guessing these services are by location of the accident and not by registration. i Google about the vehicle condition thingy, all link seem to point to vehicle status certificate only.

Based on my recent purchase which till date I am extremely happy, my experience is as follows: 1. Try to get a low mileage car even if its an older model 2. Check for the complete service history. This is very important. Service done at dealer is preferred and its worth paying the little extra premium. 3. Get a reliable mechanic to do a thorough inspection of the car. Better than the RTA comprehensive test 4. Not meaning to be biased, but some nationalities do tend to keep the car in better conditions than others. Even if there is a small work, they will get it fixed. 5. You can check the accident record on the MOI website (https://portal.moi.gov.ae/eservices/PublicServices/AccidentsInquiry.aspx?Culture=en), just enter the chasis number and you get the entire record for non-Dubai vehicles. Basic Pointers from my end Ensure to check the exterior of the vehicle in bright sun light. Avoid evening time as you may find it difficult to see the difference in paint else you shall have paint thickness check pen. When you turn on the engine check for any abnormal noises. Better to open bonnet to ensure no oil leaks. When you go for a test drive ensure to keep all window open to check for any noise during drive. Better to take a test drive on unpaved road to check suspension and jerks if any. Try reverse gear too just to check. Apply brakes and check if the vehicle deviate from its actual path. Inspect tires manually. Follow coin rule or even check with your finger for the tire thread. ensure tires are not very old. Check all electronics like all windows, lights, wipers, sunroof mechanism, if its open roof, check for roof mechanism. Ensure that vehicle is GCC specs. Check for service history and recent repairs. Check for cleanliness of interiors.

It’s possible it could be the original supra or a replica, but I’m looking at the rest picture. Totally agree someone might want to build a replica of the movie car. But why would someone want to build a replica of Paul walkers evo? And put his name on it? And the story goes that Paul walker owned the supra after the movie. So seeing both cars in one place at the same time seems like too much of a coincidence. You really never know what you’re going to spot when you’re out and about here. I see some super rare cars in the weirdest of places. And don’t forget this is Dubai, it’s a millionaires playground.
