  1. Thanks everyone for your valuable feedback. After changing the plugs the problem still existed. So opened the distributor and found a faulty bearing. This has been opened and changed, test drive shows car is smooth again. Thanks to @shadow79 and @Jalil bhai for fixing the issue at minimum cost. Well done guys.

I’ve looked into that last year and the MUT-II protocol which was used in Mitsubishi from 1995-2003 is not compatible with MOST OBD scanners https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/other-mitsubishi-vehicles/678452-mut-over-obd2-elm327.html i remember checking all the EVO tuner forums and they suggested using the Evoscan software, but that requires a laptop, which defeats the purpose you’d want to use it for. The icarsoft I am not sure about, you would be best off emailing them with your car details so they verify it, but I doubt it will work.

Excellent search and suggestion of this new area by @Emmanuel Thanks @Srikumar for Impeccable planning of 2 diff routes, waypoints, fence, exit strategy resulting in perfect drive even after few nasty recoveries we were able to play in those amazing dunes. Keep it up. Just the last bit was killing to inflate at 49 degrees under the sun and 44 under the shade (watch).

  5. Trip Report - Breaking from the usual tradition of having night drives in summer we decided that to do a Sweihan drive, one must do it in daylight. But with the limited window of good weather in day light it was decided to have an early morning drive starting with the break of sunlight. So we all met on time at 4:45 am and quickly headed to the deflation point. After an even quicker briefing we headed out with @G.huz as my second lead and @Gaurav in sweep for Section 1 of the drive. If Gaurav had any thoughts of a relatively easier drive in sweep duties, they were quickly smashed by @shadow79 with the first crest right along center of the dune ridge. A few tugs and shoveling helped recover him and he managed to better that with an even more stubborn crest in the exact same position. The winch had to finally come out to recover him from the nasty spot. By then the sun had already started showing glimpses of its full glory, and so we picked up the pace and had to skip some sections of the waypoints that were initially marked. The beauty of Sweihan (especially in summer months) is the absolute virgin dunes one can ever get to see. We reached the end of Section 1 of the drive with the time close to 8:00 am. With the weather getting warmer we headed for the best part of the drive, a huge sand mountain with plenty of room to play and circle around. The view from the top was absolutely breathtaking. After climbing from every possible angle we finally descended and started our exit route in the final hour of the drive. The dunes in this area were fabulous rolling dunes and like Gaurav mentioned, we definitely need to plan a full day drive in this area in the cooler months. As we were playing along the dunes towards the exit we had a couple of overheating issues, but thankfully nothing too bad. We finally settled for our breakfast in the shaded area of what seemed to be an abandoned majlis. A special thanks to @Emmanuel for discovering this area, and also thanks to @Javier M, @shadow79, @G.huz and @Gauravfor all the support to ensure that we started and end the drive on time, especially in this weather.

  9. WHAATT!!!!!?? OMG!!!!!! LOL I am having flashbacks reading this, my dad used to say the same thing. He was a mechanic for more than 50 years. I remember many cheap people came to his shop to ask for a quote, they complained about the price, then went with the cheaper option, then after some days they will have to come back to my dad to get it fixed, which by then the quote will be way more expensive than he originally quoted because not only he had to fix the original issue but the mess of the monkey too. We have a saying back home - "Lo barato sale caro" which would translate as Cheap is always expensive. If you want quality you need to pay accordingly. But maybe that is how I was raised. 🤔

  10. For the exhaust temperature you could add an EGT gauge and probe, the probe is very simple it is just a thermocouple connected to the gauge. I doubt you can do this via your ECU because of it being an older model. Even some newer vehicles have to be reprogrammed to understand this signal. It is just simpler to install a gauge. Installing this is not very difficult. I installed one of this in my Lancer EVO I have back home. Some people install one per cylinder, in your case one or two will be enough.

  15. Just something else to throw out there. If you have an Android head unit, you can download Torque or a similar app onto it, use the Bluetooth dongle, and you can have real time live data displayed on a full size screen as you drive. Better than looking at a tiny phone screen. Installed this system in a G65 a few months ago. Total cost for head unit and dongle was under 1,500 plus my time to install it, but this is something anyone can buy the parts and do themselves. Dragon mart has all the stuff.

Along with being a manufacturer specific tool it also doubles as a regular obdii reader and support s all protocol s including j2534 But I wouldn't recommend it for you since you run a shop with many different cars coming in. And by the time you buy half a dozen iCarsoft tools to cover most cars you could probably just buy a multivehicle tool like the launch for the same money. Or you could buy two for the most popular cars which come to your shop and the good thing is one iCarsoft covers two manufacturers like the one for Mitsubishi also covers Mazda and the one I have for LR also covers Jaguar. But you can't pick and choose which two brands you get in one tool. So of you get two you get 4 car manufacturers plus regular obdii They are built quite rugged and water and oil resistant so you can use oily and greasy hands to use it and them give it a wipe down later and can stand a good few drops too.

I am actually looking for something like this Bluetooth device that can hook up with smartphone software for code reading and clearing + live data feed of fluid and exhaust related temperature for offroad use. https://www.icarsoft.com/Product/s-294-icarsoft_bluetooth_multi_scan_tool_i620.html @Frederic can you check when you are free if this Bluetooth dongle will work on our Pajero's MUT protocol? @shadow79 existing one didn't worked on my Pajero but I love his torque dashboard for live readings.

No, it actually dindt as green powder was hiding inside the battery terminal and when they open it all the mess came out. Sure will do, any recommended shop or place from where I can pickup and DIY? I thought this too and will point out to the service guys next time I visit them.

  25. Well I didn't check what car years the iCarsoft supports. Would be wise to get on their website and check it out I got one for LR/Jag and it goes back till 1999 on the LR. Really nice piece of gear to have in your car. It interrogates and diagnoses about dozen and half ecu's and systems even on my old LR with live data on 100s of parameters. Plus free software updates as they arrive via pc

  26. Dude think a bit highly of yourself don't you and think everyone else is a moron Right! I understand you're trying to sell a cable. But that's the thing it's just a cable with no diagnostic or programing gear attached at the other end and there is Only so much you can oversell it. I've got like three OBD to USB cables lying at home not that expensive or unique. It's like selling a coat button and saying wow look at this amazing coat button you can get a Savlie Row Suit made and have this button sewn to it. Besides I was answering Gauravs query to recommend him a portable easy for layman to use Mitsu specific cheap diagnostic tool.

  32. It’s specially formulated grease with conductive particles to maximise electricity transmission. In theory, you can use any grease, EP2 works, you can even cover the battery posts in Vaseline if you want. The main aim is to keep the air away from the connection to prevent oxidisation.
