Seeing these videos makes me realize how quickly things can go wrong and one needs to be very agile, my take from this would be to listen, learn and react quickly.

That’s why I was impressed and proud of @Mohammed Yaasir who drove his own wrecked car back to the road and kept calm at all times! He didn’t even get stuck while driving up and down Maliha dunes 😁

Hahahahaha, yeah 220kph with a Pajero would be suicidal. The car was in for major maintenance just 3000kms back which included all fluids, filters, and drive belt. After this maintenance everything was perfectly normal until the last couple of days. Thanks. There’s no stuttering or jerking at all while driving, and no misfiring. I’ll have a chat with the workshop guy and keep you all posted. It doesn’t seem serious but I’m kinda sensitive to these things (OCD) 😂

I know you had that luxury in your Cherokee in 2008ish and after that I have never seen you again on sand.

Beauty is the eye of the beholder and each to his own, but is that really worth spending so much money, time and effort on? After all being said and done it will still be a plastic piggy albeit slightly more shiny. Now if you were chopping off the bumpers giving it a proper lift, some gnarly tyres, etc etc I would be on board somewhat

Electric and recovery cannot go in same sentence. Small fuse, wire, switch, short circuit can impair your recovery process. I rem when my winch controller switch failed in one of extreme recovery and we spend next 4-5 hours joining ropes, and finding suitable angle to tug.

Not really a fan of those things for the following reasons: 1) Haven’t seen them in floorjack model, which is the only model that works on unstable ground. The first model you displayed is a bottle jack model, which might sometimes work, but maybe only in 40% of the cases. 2) They are rather fast, and that’s wat you don’t want during lifting a 4x4. You want to be able to slowly position it in place, and then gently lift up the car. The hydraulic floor jack is much better for that. Like Emmanuel pointed out, shoveling is far more intensive than lifting a car. Maybe consider buying an electric shovel ? 😂😉

One of the main reasons that we don't suggest a bottle Jack or a scissor jack is that in the uneven surface of desert the jack might fail. They are fine in a flat surface but not in the desert. Not sure about the electric part though. Are they reliable?

Wifey’s Pajero started sounding a bit rougher when starting. While I initially thought this might be with to do with the slightly colder mornings, now i noticed the car has a kind of resonance vibration that can be felt inside at around 2200rpm. After revving further it disappears again. Note1: I am revving in P, so drivetrain can be excluded already. Note2: car sounds normal in idle, no vibrations and very stable idle rpm I will give it a Redex treatment to start but anyone has any idea what this might be ? I was thinking engine mounts maybe ? 🤨

@desertdude trust me, 3 years back I would be the first to laugh every time I saw someone say Pajero as an off-roader. But after actually owning it I can only wish I had taken back those comments made! Yes, its not factory ready to tackle everything like some other cars out there. But with just one or two traction mods and switches it will fly. Another thing, this is the reason I am building the Pajero up is because it will be Unique! When the car was stock I used to get honked from left right and center in the fast lane, but after slowly modifying it I don't think I've even gotten high beamed since. This taught me another thing about the UAE, its not so much about the Car model which gets the respect, its about the build and effort that goes into one which is respected. Yes Gaurav! I agree with the Body comment you made 100%, might be overkill. Also, drivetrain wise... Hopefully I'll be able to say that a Supercharged JK isn't gonna have a chance against this Make no mistake lol I have no intention on spending 150K to twin turbo this engine. But with the right research and a little TLC I'm aiming to make 280-290 HP to the rear wheels. All I need is your Manual Gearbox Can always expect Rahim Bhai with some kind words!

For a moment I thought you have vibrations at 220 kmph, and I was scratching my head how come bro u cross the sound barrier of pajero at 180 kph. Have you check air filter, engine oil, spark plug basics first?

Hi, Since I have been assisting newbies with recoveries in the off road drives off late, I realized its time I got myself a jack besides the stock jack that comes in my car. @Srikumar has also pointed out that its better if I get a good jack to help out with recoveries. I have noticed all the seniors use the standard hydraulic jack which is very convenient and gets the job done all the time. However, when I was looking around, i did come across a few electrical options and I was wondering how these would fare against the classic hydraulic jack that we all use. Two models in particular have caught my eye (ill include the picture and description below) but if any of you could share your experiences with me on this, that would be great as I am not sure if these newer electric options will stand the test of time, as in, will they last or would they stop working over a period of time. 1) The first is an - Automotive Electric Hydraulic Floor Jack 12V DC 3T with Electric Impact Wrench 4 in 1 Electric Car Jack Tool Kit with LED lamp I have seen a bunch of video ads for these and they seem fairly simple to setup. 2) And the next is an electric scissor jack The price for both of these are a bit higher than the standard hydraulic jack but then again, they provide a convenience of lifting the car with a lot more ease. They both come with cigarette lighter wires and crocodile clips to connect to the battery. If anyone has had any experience with these jacks or even other types of jacks, your feedback would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

I had an electric bottle jack ( got it for free )similar to the one in the pic. Unfortunately I never got to test it. On flat tarmac and at full extension it would not even reach my lifted Discovery.

I agree with @Srikumar and the question is also : does it really worth the price ? I mean it doesn’t make a big difference in terms of physical effort, as the most tiring part of a pop out recovery is to clear the sand around the wheel...

I did not notice it during that time. But then again, maybe you are right. I will also check the manifold heatshield.

Is this vibration since the last major service? Then ask the workshop to check the manifold and manifold gasket as if they have removed and re-fixed that, there is a possibility to misaligned or have a little bent on that thin metal gasket. I experience something similar on 4k rpm band and disappear at 5k, little whistle and vibration.

Gaurav I doubt it can be the Air/ Fuel system, otherwise he would have stuttering and jerking even while driving. I don't know how it can be mounts either.. because if mounts the higher the RPM the more it should vibrate... I had read something about this issue being with a vibration damper/ heavy counterweight at the rear of the gearbox. It's an easy fix according to the forums. Give it a shot?

If chassiss being damaged, get that fix first, then get measure by RTA approved center and get the passing to be 100% sure it's worth spending all those money. Also more you get into detailing, there is no end to it for perfecting every nook and cranny for offroad use car. I explored the rust proofing option too in 2017 but realized that my factory done rust proofing is still 90% fine after 20 years, as we drive in sand that regularly sand blast it and plus we aren't in wetland with road salt that eats the car like in colder countries. Btw the drive line mod means are you planning some power mod too?

Hey Guys, So I have been looking to do a Restoration of the Pajero, main focus would be the Chassis, Body and Electrical Wiring Through out. Complete Restore. Reason being there is a lot of Performance Mods that are going to be done to the Car during 2020 and I just want everything to be perfect (I have OCD that way.) It will not be a factory restore in terms of Drivetrain, but some what a Restomod project, hopefully first of its kind! Things that I would want to do: Chassis correction and repainting/rust proofing, Body Panel Correction and Full Repaint, Electrical system Overhaul, All nuts and bolts galvanized and refreshed. Was looking for any Garage recommendations that can carry out such a restore diligently and within justifiable costs. Any leads would be much appreciated! Cheers, Jas

Thanks Gaurav, The plan is to have the drivetrain being modified while all this work is going on. So by the time everything will be ready and assembled at once. I'll keep you updated, I think the issue I find with UAE garages is that most owners have all the know how and expertise on the works but they aren't there 24/7 to monitor labor, just a way of doing business. Line-X is probably the line I will take for the Chassis!

That is why i mentioned - just a small correction on this part of the trip report. Rahim bhai did mention that we all contributed towards the end of the report but just see below sentences from that particular paragraph: 1. Both of them worked tirelessly to get the FJ safe to drive out. 2. @Srikumar took over and again with the help of @Halit Mert Issever got the whole thing sorted and we were headed out. Above statements when read by a person who wasn't present on the scene, would think, only 2 members did all the work which is not correct and that is what I am trying to highlight here.
