What a fantastic new year celebration and great turn out from amazing folks we had last night. I started little early and saw @sertac reached the meeting before anyone, so we both went to the new year spot to secure it by unloading all our stuff and asking our wives and kiddos to stay there until we get everyone from the meeting point. Except Adil and Roshan everyone showed up on time and we started from the meeting point after a quick brief to drive with inflated tires. Thanks @sertac and @Rahimdad for following the request of bringing the firewood but we wouldn't be able to run whole night bonfire with just two people firewood contribution. So we all decided to send one guy for the most difficult task on NYE to buy a firewood. On 31 Dec daytime itself, all firewood runs out so hoping to get something at night would be a difficult task. Thanks to @Shamil for accepting to take this challenging responsibility and hopping on several places until he found last 3 bags of firewood. Shamil seems like a man who doesn't accept - NO for an answer, well done buddy for saving everyone's new year with warmth and happy moments. Everyone brought the great food and amazing selection of drinks that keep on circulating through out the night and we all thoroughly enjoyed the music and live karaoke session by all of us. Even my 5 y/o sang Christmas songs twice. After the new year start @Shamil playing on guitar was a star attraction as when we all got tired and sat next to the bonfire and Shamil kept playing guitar for beautiful old songs that we all have grown up with. It was a very good walk down to memory lane, to remind us about our school and college beautiful days on the first day of new year. Thanks @tjsingh, @Roshy, @Sri, @Rahimdad, @Shamil and @sertac for wonderful time. Have a happy and blessed new year.

I would like to invite all Intermediates and above to do something different and do a fast pace trip from Maleha to Faya. We will start from the newbie area in Maleha and continue our way to Faya and go back to Fossil Rock. This will allow us to go back to basics and practice in a wide range of dunes. We will explore and alternate between side sloping and basic ridge crossing techniques and enjoy whatever this area has to offer in a fast pace. Depending on the pace and progress we will exit at Faya road or exit at fossil rock. This drive is for Intermediate and above level only. Please check if you have all required tools and gear on board as per your assigned drive level. When: 03 January 2020, Friday Meeting time: 06:45 AM, the convoy will move sharply at 07:00 AM Where: ADNOC Service station GPS Coordinate: https://goo.gl/maps/b3tDGLrAcs1AhxYa9 Level of drive: Intermediate and above Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 10 inches of ground clearance. What to bring along: Some snacks, plenty of water - whatever you like with little extra to share, smiles, stories, enthusiasm and willingness to learn.

Nope, i bought it from an international trucker who took it on his trailer on the way back from UK to Belgium. It still had the UK license plate on it. But classic cars can be definitely registered in Belgium if they are either LHD or RHD.

This video is mesmerizing. I am still impressed by old cars still driving on the streets.

Restoring or keeping any old car alive require lot of patience, taste, money, free time and resourceful thinking.

Engine does seem to have gone all quiet while earlier it was making a lot of doof doof, maybe manual transmission?

Too slow on the angle he is on, the gravity is the king in pulling down. He should have kept the speed up or steered down

Thank you so much @Rahimdad ! I was working on my report, but you already said everything 😀, and in a much more proper English than mine! What can I add? ... That @Shamil was my second lead, thank you buddy, followed by @Fuad, then @Xaf (with his sister who we were pleased to meet), then @Rahimdad in sweep. I had decided to follow backwards the route we had done two months ago, on 18th Oct, which means to enter near Al Ain Dairy Nahil Farms and exit SW, at Yahar high dunes spot. The only disadvantage for this option, as you rightly pointed Rahim, was that we got the afternoon sun hitting directly our windhsields and dazzling at some points. I must admit that I didn’t think about this tiny but quite anoying detail… ... That it had been quite a while since last time we saw FUAD driving. And because he was the only fewbie to join that day, we started at a moderate pace, but soon we noted that he wasn’t struggling at all, which allowed us to inscrease the pace. This positive impression was confirmed when we stopped at our first playing spot. There we saw a totally different driver than the one we saw last year. Well done Fuad ! ... That all the other drivers also managed absolutely well. No stuck at all, only a few refusals. Xaf's pop out was fixed in 5 minutes and we only took a short break to clean the MAF sensor of Fuad’s Pathfinder. Other than that, convoy was always on the move… Thank you all !

What a way to start 2020, with @Javier M in lead. Looking forward to joining this one, however will confirm closer to time as travelling on Friday afternoon.

So that in the name of privacy they can charge for 5 days work when the car was sitting idle for 4 days.

If you have an old Smartphone lying around the house, you can easily make a dash cam out of it too. I downloaded an app called Smart Dash Cam on IOS which I use to record our drives sometimes. It only starts recording when you are actually moving, and makes videoclips of 2-3 mins each that you can upload to your Google Drive or Dropbox. It can also record on impact. The only negative thing is that I have to remove the phone when the car is parked in the clear sun or high temperature. The problem with the very cheap dash-cams is the so-called 720 or 1080 quality which they like to put on the box, but when using it you will come to see that reading numberplates or more detailed data will be difficult to extract, which then basically makes it almost worthless to use.

i use the xiaomi 70mai dashcam which is quite reasonably priced and it works on a capacitor as opposed to lithium batteries (which is what most action cams such as gopro use). The advantage of capacitor powered dashcams is that they only work when the car is switched on and they can withstand higher temperatures as opposed to lithium battery powered action cams.

That 96 2k Rav is a hot cake seen them most on uaq and rak and ajman side I myself know of 8 homes having that exact shape or coupe of Rav which comes out when it's raining although most are with expired registration As we go towards the Sharjah dxb side then the count is high for the shanabs and Hilux I am not biased never here or anywhere else have I recommended anyone to get a Rav for off roading use but have implimented that whatever you have at hand will do and myself would love to get my hands on a Jeep Cherokee until time permits it's Rav which is gonna row me there
