Wow, I am really impressed with everyone in my convoy today! @Niki Patel you did brilliant on your first fewbie as second lead. Really great driving and teamwork by everyone. @AlexPol You didn't seem to have any issues on your first fewbie, well done.@Jack Thomas same goes for you, you handled that beast like a pro, but I am quite proud that I managed to get you crested twice, within 20 meters on two different dunes. @Aus Alzubaidi this is my second drive with you, I think, and again you weren't faced by anything. @Arun Mathew very sad you had to exit early, but up until then you were doing very well, I hope you will get the car to stop overheating. @Vijaysekhar you truly were invisible, next time please withdraw your rsvp so others can join, I think Hennie gave up his spot for nothing now. @Salarios you drove well and did some perfect recoveries, well done. @Malachy McGrogan you were really helpful, good communicating from my sweep and very nice recoveries with the right amount of power. @Jon M you seemed to have a lot of fun and I like it that you try again with great enthusiasm. @Gaurav Soni thank you for assisting and being my center forward, you were in control. After a getting used to the sand we ended up doing a bit of everything, from up and over to side sloping and ridge riding, to criss crossing and we even managed very well in the technical dunes and in the soft sand. @Frederic I was silent because I didn't have to cry out like last time drive with you to rescue me from Refusal or Stuck. I have slowly started to put to practice what was learned from Carnity drives.

Wow! Thank you so much @Jeepie, this was by far the most enjoyable and thrilling drive I had so far. It was a real roller coaster. I feel I need a day off now to relax my muscles! We got to experience every single obstacle in the book, and we were greated by wild oryxes and gazelles, multiple times. @Niki Pateland @AlexPol well done, you were flying today. Thank you @Gaurav Soniand @Malachy McGroganfor keeping the convoy moving. This was a huge step up from the newbie drives. I'm looking forward to experience intermediate and advanced technical drives

DRIVE REPORT As a first drive of the New Year this was a nice drive to see our Carnity friends again, stretch our legs a bit, and lose some of the calories we have put on from the festive days. I was in the good company of 2 Absolute Newbies @ZakWarah and @Salty3Arab who both drove great today, well done guys ! You can now both start joining Newbie level drives, just make sure to get an offroad flag and shovel. Our Pajero crew @Abdul Rahman Abdul Kader @Danish Mohammad @Baskaran P.R again showed us the capabilities of their cars by taking on the terrain without much hiccups. Great work ! Buddies @Chris Meir and @Gavin Hill always a pleasure having you on the drives ! @Ken Hüüdma and @Shehab Alawadhi both driving great big and capable 4x4's, taking them effortlessly through the terrain, maybe except for Shehab his front bumper that decided to lose some weight. @N@ved you've really impressed me today with that TJ of yours, it might be the perfect offroad toy but your driving skills showed serious talent ! @Thomas Varghese you were silently in the back but took the Xterra through every dune without any difficulties. Well done ! Hi, A new year is about to welcome us all and I wanted to understand the protocols and interest for arranging a short (1night) camping trip. Is there a place on our site to track interest in arranging an overnight camping event? Are others looking for a chance to pair a drive with an overnight camp? full disclosure, I haven’t camped since I was 10yo and none of my family have a desire to camp (yet) so was hoping to find an opportunity to have such a trip done via our community and linked to a nice drive(s)? If theres enough interest I am certain we can make our Marshall’s motivated to make this real.

I guess we are all on the same side. Had a tough time convincing my family to go for camping. M game for camping anytime....

I am waiting for the restrictions to be lifted

I don't know much about camping gear and not very fascinated with having a roof when camping outside. My only experience with camping was when I was doing my engineering @ Manipal and we had been frequently to Agumbe forest which is famous for king cobras and the perfect offroader was my Dolphin car which doesn't need any recovery gear except able hands to lift it off and we were all enthusiastic teenagers. It was fun gazing the night sky with no roof overhead and all our team drinking & singing over a camp fire. Most of them are no longer with me as they fell down in the journey of life and now only vague memories remain. By the way there was no carnity club to teach us how to and all we did was lift the car by bare hands from where we got stuck. I love to camp with friends as I have no more major responsibilities in life. Got married early and have grown up kids who are already working or have finished their graduation. Its my time again and wish to take full advantage of this time. Anybody can count me in if its raw camping.

First time at Iftar Bowl and I can say it was the most complicated terrain that I have driven on; or is it how all Fewbie Plus drives go about? I guess it was probably the terrain because of the sheer amount of refusals that the drivers faced; but it only helped them improve at points where they lacked. @Wrangeld, you threw many challenges at us, which we absolutely loved and we also learned that its not just about whats packed under the hood but rather about the driver's skills. @Luca Palanca Falsini You had a lot of shepherding to do today but you managed it without breaking a sweat. (BTW, do you happen to have a V8 swapped under your hood?😂😂) @Ahab Shamaa, Initially I thought your winch was just going be sitting on your bumper, rusting, but its quite a useful tool as we saw today😂. Perhaps your investment didnt go down in vain 😂. @DANIEL NOGUEIRA Sad to see someone going through the same experience that I did a couple of weeks ago, hope it wasnt anything serious and the RAM would make it back on sand in no time. The Deadman is impressive, however its a lot of digging to bury the thing in the first place and I wonder if you might as well just dig under the car (if crested. That said it appears to be a handy piece of kit for sure.

I love camping and particularly camping in Oman where there are less restrictions, beautiful wadis, and the locals are amazing and helpful.

This drive is organized in full compliance with the COVID19 guidelines. For all you off road champs I joined Carnity to learn offroading so that one day I can venture out alone and get lost in the desert so that I can click some pictures. After reading all your posts it dawned on me that I need to find another lunatic who has a 4 X 4 and knows how to help himself and me. Can someone guide me how to get help if I get get stuck in the middle of nowhere? These self recovery tools posted here are no good to me as I'm little lazy to be honest to start digging.

First convoy ( intermediate ) with Legend :Gaurav The two convoys resulted in two different levels the first one lead by @Gaurav for an intermediate drive and the F+ lead by @Wrangeld in parallel with equal number of drivers each. As a result for me it was my first intermediate and it went so amazing and over my expectation in a positive way. After socially distant quick briefing by our lead we headed toward the beautiful rising sun with increasing pace till we reached the first bowl and then the second bowl and in each one every one enjoyed climbing from either side. After that we continued our journey and along we encountered a couple of refusals and stucks which gave us a chance to stretch our muscles shoveling a bit in one hand and tugging sometimes on the other hand. Thank you @Craig Finlayson for the winching activity that was really of great help. Thank you @Gaurav for the amazing adventure which was for me an epic enjoyable to the max in driving as well as in assisting helping when ever needed and appreciate your guidance during the tugging attempts I have done. thank you @Craig Finlayson for being a flawless second lead and your helping in recoveries. A Special and big thank you for @Lorenzo Candelpergher for volunteering to join the drive and keeping an eagle eye to The Whole convoy from the sweep position. The same thanks and gratitude goes to @Wrangeld for leading the F+ convoy. Last but not least thank you for all who came for both convoys and shared their passion and experience in this amazing day . ¡Hey @Niki Patel! Happy New Year! I’m in the same boat as you are when it comes to camping. I would love to go on camping trips and learn the art of camping. My wife and 2 kids on the other hand, are a different story 😀 The good news for us is that there are many Carnity members who are seasoned and experienced campers. So Covid permitting 😂, I foresee lots of camping trip in our future 💪🏻

Thanks @Baskaran P.R 2020 has indeed been a rollercoaster year with so many surprises, and the things we thought were impossible were proven to be possible. Carnity has been for me personally one of the things that kept us going and the positive spirit and willingness of our members to abide to all the Covid rules has been so inspiring. You have been performing so well with your Pajero, and having you and your son on our drives is a blessing for us ! Happy New Year !

I’ve seen these things being advertised but like mentioned what if you are crested on a dune ? As far as I’ve seen on the YouTube videos the anchor only works fine if you are doing a horizontal pull. In the case of being crested you’d be pulling on a sharp upwards angle and it would come straight out of the sand. On top of that all the YouTube footage I’ve seen were people stuck on places where I felt some shoveling and blip blip technique could have gotten them out easily.
