Changing one's mind can be hard simply because we usually have one prospective. That is why I love flying my drone, it allows me to have a different prospective on the world. Is there any other drone passionately in the club, I refuse to believe I am the only one. I'd love to share tips and tricks and in the spirit of Carnity make each other better. @Enrico Biscaro, this a painful topic. First of all, as a hobbyist pilot, you are supposed to register your drone with GCAA (General Civil Aviation Authority) and are free to use it in all emirates except Dubai with the standard limitation (max 120m AGL, max 500 flight radius, i.e. distance, but always in VLOS - visual line of sight, no flying over crowds and private properties, no flying after sunset and before sunrise). In addition, to fly in Dubai emirate, you need to take a specific exam to be certified as an "Hobbyist RPAS Pilot" (RPAS = Remoted Piloted Aircraft System), register your drone and license with DCAA (Dubai Civil Aviation Authority) and apply their ID stickers on both remote and aircraft. This is to fly freely in GREEN ZONES and operate your camera for hobbyist purposes.. Should your footage be used for commercial purposes, you'd be violating the local regulations. To fly in Yellow Zones, you will require each time a specific permission by the relevant authority, depending on the location (i.e. GCAA for all other emirates, DCAA for Dubai). These permissions are normally granted only for commercial purposes and they are quite expensive (approx 6-7k AED for a single day flying/shooting session). You will need to obtain clearance from GCAA/DCAA + MOD, which is normally only possible by applying through a licensed entity (=company) which has obtained security clearance from MOD. I have tried multiple times to obtain an NOC to fly in YELLOW ZONES for hobbyist purposes but I never succeeded, despite having all the other credentials for professional use. Whenever you fly in yellow or red zones under a GCAA/DCAA NOC, an inspector from MOD will be sent to monitor your operations. If in Dubai, you will have to use a tracker (which sends all data to DCAA, who monitor that you stay within the authorized parameters, which are typically the standard ones, unless you are in RED ZONES, where you may have reduced AGL and flight radius, and coordinate with ATC (Air Traffic Control) before/after take-off and landing. As you can see, drones are very strictly regulated in the UAE and I recommend you really know the subject well. Some dare to fly their drones without permissions even in Yellow Zones (which in UAE are mostly defined for military purposes), but I wouldn't recommend doing so, as you may risk to get your aircraft seized and to be fined, if caught. Should you fly close enough to a military base, you may get your drone taken down!

Apology be lated . After reading all the previous feedback I had no doubt that we all enjoyed it . I do always and each drive has its own spice . A special spice was seeing two legends making the perfect duo in the little blue thank you both @Gauravand @Frederic for the amazing night drive🙏 I have been to pink rock many many times and in the dark it’s the 4th time if not mistaken and the point is I always drive back home with something in my pocket. But this time I kept the gift for the next morning reload drive and it helped a lot so by the time I reached home next day I had two gifts 🎁 in a time . Waw I love the desert and what it brings along with it from surprises! back to our night I believe every one did so great we drove we shovelled we tugged we rerouted we self recovered and we climbed the pink rock 🪨 for me it’s always a new feeling despite the familiarity of the area. Well made video, and he is using the same steps we teach as well: 1) Step out of the vehicle and assess your situation to see in which direction you could get out easily (fwd or reverse) . Stop applying more gas. 2) Switch over to Low Gear. Activate Rear Difflock if you have. 3) Keep turning the steering wheel full left - full right while applying small amount of throttle (+/- 1500rpm). If there is no movement/improvement at all, take out your shovel and clear the wheels and underbody where needed. Then try again.

Fantastic video @Enrico Biscaro ! I have two drones, and occasionally try to find the time and space to fly them. Oddly enough, during flying, i am more in awe of the technology the drone has to reach these heights and maneuver effortlessly, and i don't spend enough time on the recording and video-editing part. But looking at your video now i completely get the majestic recording and the soundtrack that gave the right ambience as well. I hope i will find more time to practice and get better recordings. I am looking for the winter to come back soon so we can setup the tent and enjoy the scenery !

No need to apologize, it was not at all a crime to have back to back refusals while we are in the learning phase and specifically while you are driving with HT tyres, you did drive very well in the second half, learning and improving on the skills are important which you did well. Keep enjoying and focus on the drives. See you soon!!!!

@Enrico Biscaro, just be mindful of the fact that registering your drone with GCAA under the MyDroneHub App is NOT sufficient to fly it in the Emirate of Dubai. This is the UA (Unmanned Aircraft) registration certificate you get from GCAA: This allows you to fly in Green zones in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Umm Al Quain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Ajman but NOT in Dubai. To fly in Dubai you need and Hobbyist RPAS Pilot Certificate like the one below, plus your drone must be additionally registered and labeled with DCAA (Dubai Civil Aviation Authority) which is DIFFERENT than GCAA (General Civil Aviation Authority). Here's an example of hobbyist registration label for my Phantom 4: As you will see I have two labels (it and old photo so the label dates are now expired). Same Wing Number, but one is for hobbyist use and the other is for commercial. Many believe that having the MyDroneHub registration under GCAA is sufficient to fly in Al Qudra, for example, but in fact it isn't...

I've been delving deep into the forums over the past few weeks and just the astounding level of detail is mind-boggling. There's so much amazing insight, guidance and opinion here that I've truly learned so much than I ever had before. But one feature I've been looking for is the ability to save/bookmark/favorite a comment on the threads so I can come back to it later. I've been following the topic and reacting to them so they appear in my timeline as a way of leaving bread crumbs. But I'd like the ability to go directly to the comment on a topic that really stood out to me. Is there a way on the Carnity forums where we can favorite a post and commit it to our profiles so it can be visited again and again in the future? And while doing so, being able to add tags to the bookmark so I can tag it into categories. In the meantime, I'm just saving those pages the old school way as bookmarks on my browser in addition to following the topic but keen to see how the others are tackling this.

Thanks, I still need to master the throttle control I can feel sometimes I have too much momentum ascending even when I barely step on the gas resulting to a bouncy descent after a crest Hopefully a few drives will be able to help with this

Hi @Brian Dev Yes this thread and also every off roader must know what went wrong and more and more are precious ones to see and read the comments within Carnity platform . Dear Desert Wanderers, this RSVP is now closed. Please find below the convoy order for our drive: @Danish Mohammad, @Naveen Raj, @Aisha S, @Gregory, @Lakshmi Narasimhan, @Ehab, @Nithin Vaidir, @Rjducos, @GauravSoni, this drive is going to be a new experience for several participants who will be exploring the desert at night for the first time and more in general it will be more demanding than a daytime Fewbie drive. It will require your full and undivided concentration at every step, so make sure you come well rested and hydrated and that and you don’t have any reason for being distracted. Also, in order to avoid problems during the drive, please consider having your last meal sufficiently earlier than the drive starting time or plan it after the drive (but in this case pls carry a snack with you) and don't forget to wear closed shoes and long trousers as at night scorpions and snakes may be occasionally around. Should you plan to bring any passengers, these recommendations apply to them as well. We will be using Carnity Channel 4 (446.08125Mhz). That is a very good point you are bringing. Personally i used to copy/paste the browser hyperlinks into a Word file called "Carnity Articles". But it would indeed be interesting to have a kind of bookmarks configuration. The Search function also works pretty well, and most of the time i use to trace back old articles.

Finally met in person with @Gaurav after driving for more than 7 months with @Carnity, it was a pleasure driving under your lead... Thank you. Newbie drives are always fun as we get to see people with full enthusiasm, reminding us of how we started and took this sport with so much passion and are still enjoying it. Pleasant surprise to have @Fredericon this drive, you saved our night by lending your vehicle and joining Gaurav... much appreciated! Great show put on by @Looper as 2nd lead, @Rizwanm2 and @M.Seidamas CF (both were super supportive) and @Jeepieas our sweep (ensuring everyone stayed together), Thank you. Thanks @Gaurav for a wonderful drive. It was quite fun drive. The drive was one of those types that I like most. I never before enjoyed a night drive as much as of last night. It seemed like @M.Seidam @Jeepie and especially @Rizwanm2had few refusals to take care of. I like refusals in night drives, (sorry to say that) for it gives me time to enjoy the tranquility of the desert in the night. Being behind the lead I can only comment on my drive. It was my first drive with my new lift and 2nd one with the new tires and I am still new to the changed driving stance. Crossing dunes seemed a lot more easier yesterday, without the usual scooping of sand. I was however a bit worried if I might have a pop out as it happened a couple of times in my last drive and I was driving in a slightly sedated manner. My first refusal occurred due to the lighter gas than it was required and the recovery issues seemed to be due to 4 wheel drive not engaging properly, since you mentioned that my front wheels were not moving. In my last drive I had a “Service 4WD” message pop up and it came at the fag end while exiting and wasn’t sure what it was doing. Apart from that one time I did not seem to have any issues for rest of the drive. And the second refusals was because I have to live up to my new profile name, and take some loops to come back on track. I just slipped out to the other side of the ridge as I suffered a momentary lack of concentration, since I was looking at my son; who was asleep by then - if he was comfortable or not. PS: It is important to be able to keep adequate distance while observing what the lead/driver in front is doing, one of the skills everyone must practice. This will help to assess how to proceed with tackling the terrain, while giving enough time and space to not getting oneself stuck back to back in a difficult situation.
