Dear Desertnauts, here's tomorrow convoy order: @Niki will be my Second Lead @Ehab will be driving at #3 @Sunil Mathew at #4 @Mus_hus78 at #5 @JeromeFJ will be #6 @Chris Wing #7 @Wrangeld will be the Anchor of the convoy @Tareck at #9 @Looper will be #10 @PaoloMaraziti will take #11 @AlexPol #12 @darren thompson will line up at #13 @Russ in place #14 @Darren Brooke at #15, and @Alex Raptor will carry a very long broom, to Sweep this giant convoy. I have chosen to increase the length of the convoy, both in consideration of the drivers' quality and experience (with an equal mix of Intermediates and above, and Fewbie Plus), as well as with the goal to share the fun with as many member friends as possible (thanks, also, to the support of very experienced drivers). Nonetheless, in light of the convoy's length, extra caution will be required, not only in choosing a path that can remain drivable all the way to the end of the line, but also in following it safely and attentively. Each Fewbie Plus member will be guided through the drive by an Intermediate or above driver, who will be able to show the best lines of approach, and "tutor" the more junior member throughout the drive, from their position just in front of them. The entry point has been chosen at the margin of an area of camel farms, in Faqa's Al Ain region, off of the Dubai-Al Ain highway, and reachable via very badly paved roads (with lots of pot-holes, so careful driving on them). And the magical door opened to a world of mystical bowls and majestic dunes with fog as it's shroud and mines of soft sand spread all across the devil's world ... the world of SWEIHAN. The Rajni Da @Srikumar divulged the secret mission to the team..the lady must be rescued and mission must be completed by 10am, timing is critical few moments lost and scorching sun will overpower all our ammunition.... Rajni @Srikumar led from front killing all that devil threw in at convoy, @Russ Mr Hobbs riding on his tank at the end of convoy ensured that defence was never breached... Devil did all it could to delay our movement - showered fog leading to poor visibility, used fast sinking sand to create some refusals and it's stealth attack on @Humayun Ghias. Mr Shaw caused a pop out and just when @Rawad Dominik Toreto was looking invincible, he was crested on a mischievous dune... Despite all challanges the disciplined convoy didn't give up and in the maze of Yahar found the secret location of the lady. Path to lady was dangerous, convoy swirled through the mysterious bowls and demonstrated awesome control to smash all that came in its way. Finally 10 min before 10am Rajni Da @Srikumar blowed the victory horn as we rescued the Lady dune and before the sun could come to the rescue of devil we were out of desert, celebrating the freedom of the Lady...👍👍😃😃 Thanks @Srikumar for all the fun.

The Trip to Little Liwa Now, that's what I call a complete drive where we had fast paced action, monstrous dunes to climb, fantastic set of drivers, a bit of shoveling and tugging (not too much) and the final icing, broad smiles from all drivers at the end of the drive. Everyone made it well ahead of time. We were greeted to a beautiful sunrise with a hint of fog. As the visibility was still quite good we enter into the massive dunes across the entry point. Sweihan's beauty was in it's full glory with razor sharp ridges, broad spaced out dunes and huge bowls that begged to be driven at 70+ km/h. However the deeper we went inside the thicker became the fog, so we decided to take a break till the fog lifted. After that break, we pushed the pace to our hearts content. We had plenty of crisscrossing, ridge riding, bowls and also a small patch of technical dunes. And as a final climax to what was already a wonderful drive, the entire convoy rode the bowls beautifully at the backside of Old Lady Dune, gained enough momentum and crisscrossed at the top of Old Lady Dune, from the back to the front. Great job!! Excellent driving by all the drive participants @varunmehndiratta@Rawad @Humayun Ghias @JeromeFJ @Chinthaka Ruwan @Ilya and @Russ. For some, it was their first IM and they managed everything that was thrown at them very well. I hope you guys enjoyed and that it was worth driving the extra distance to reach the AD dunes. As mentioned with the borders opening up and the weather slowly changing for the better, AD is the new frontier to venture. And now that you guys know the secret password, I hope to see you guys more often in AD 😂 Till we meet again on the sand of Abu Dhabi, take care.

Really amazing drive this morning! Many many thanks @Srikumar for unveiling the unlimited possibilities of the Sweihan world. The early moments of the drive where pure magic with the sun rising over the dunes still covered with fog below us. And the rest was just the continuation, with high climbs, bowls, ridges, and the endless dunes. Thank to all the convoy allowing the continuous pace proposed by the master of the area @Srikumar!

Thanks @Srikumar for the great drive today. My first drive with you also in Abu Dhabi. It was a totally new level for me. I heard many stories about mighty dunes in Swehan and today I personally witnessed it. Looking forward to go again there. I have captured some actions in my camera and some highlights are below. Post Drive Report Coming from Dubai to Sweihan always feels like an adventure. Even though driving from home to Fossil Rock or Pink Rock takes just a few minutes less, the drive feels a lot longer: with the promise of the amazing Sweihan dunes at the end. Despite a detour because I forgot where to go for petrol (sorry @Jeepie) we were able to get under way quickly and ... drive into a fog bank with really limited visibility. Undaunted [we decided to treat it like a night drive during the day] we started, very tenatively finding our feet in the sand. The fog cleared quickly (I bet the majority reading this have all forgotten about the fog!) 42km later, our Newbie troup exited,with a slightly unfortunate brake problem taking us away form this incredible playground on time (honestly we woud probably have overstayed our welcome had that not happened!) We had a good drive. Very few significant stucks, some great self recoveries, lovely views and great focus from everyone. Support was impeccable from @Jeepie and @Alex Raptor. Great second lead from @mikaeel shaik. Some specific feedback, possibly a bit limited because I did not really have a chance to focus on every driver at length. Hopefully there will be contributions from others. @mikaeel shaik great 2nd lead. We almost got through a full drive! Really impressed with how you handle the MG. @Mohamed Aashiq Salahudeen our absolute newbie. You did well. Yes, you had some refusals, but you need to treat every one of them as a learning experience. Taking waht you learned today to your next drives will be massively valuable. @Mohammed Yazir Thattarathil first of all, great car ... a great drive all round, expecially considering you had a very full car. Please, get your brakes looked at ASAP. @Mohseen Suliman it's not easy learning how to drive a manual in the desert. Your level of control requires more work than us lazt automatic drivers. Good job today. It's clear you are learning drive by drive. @Walter Palk glad you had a chance to try the tricks and tools on the FJ today. A-track is a great asset in your vehicle - please spend the time to learn more about how it can help you. Another few mintes of patience and more practive, you would have made it out of the stuck without assistance. I put you at the back so you could deal with churned sand and you handled it well. @Ferl Brown real improvements from the drive on which I last saw you. Remember - gravity: don't fight it. You have to get that dialled in to your subconscious. @Johannes Roux second drive out with you in as many weeks! I think the fact that I heard very little about the grey Prado says a lot about how you are developing as a driver. And I hope the bumper can be sorted easily. @Christopher Assal thanks for giving @Nabeel Abdul Rahman a great line to follow and showing immense restraint the whole day. Your experience is invaluable on a drive and the fact we could shift you to sweep, when we needed help is appreciated. @Nabeel Abdul Rahman with a perfect example in front of you, you drive really well (a combination of both of you doing a great job). Thanks to you all for a fun drive and a great energy throughout. See you soon in the sand.

It was such smooth and flowing ride, till the last moment. At least the mechanical issues with my car happened towards the end of the ride - my apologies nonetheless to all... Huge thanks to @Kailas, @Gaurav, @Gaurav Soni and @Mukundan Nair for getting me and @Sara EL FANIDI out to the tarmac but also for the excellent support and guidance in the rest of the ride. Thanks @Sara EL FANIDI for being hawkeyed and prompt to warn me to stop and prevent further damage. Looks like the smoke may have been coolant spilling from a broken hose and vaporizing (I am hoping its this and not the other options- will know better tomorrow - BTW I recovered the vehicle and its at the garage now - thanks guys!) Special thanks to @Kailas no one would have guessed you were leading your first newbie drive if it hadnt been announced - perfect job! (and thanks for the lift home 😀) Fellow newbies as well, it was great to get to know you a little better, hope to continue with many more drives. Cheers!

Many thanks @Srikumar for leading today’s drive and to repeat what I said on the radio at the end, that drive made the very early morning so worthwhile and I cannot wait to return to the area! The sheer scale of the area, and of course the dunes, were like nothing I’ve experienced before - fantastic! Great to meet old and new faces and hope to see you all soon 🌵

While driving to AD today, there was an air of excitement since it was a new area for me. I could see silhouettes of dunes in the far distance that amazed me as I parked my vehicle at the meeting point. After the briefing and moving towards our 4x4s I saw @JeromeFJand @Rawadhaving a quick chat, I asked Jerome the same question, how different is this place? He replied, you will learn to drive in the desert all over again. That basically sums up the drive today, it was a complete new experience for which I thank @Srikumar Happy to have played a part in christening @Russ''s Jack. May the "Patrol" come to the rescue of many Patrols and their pop outs. Thank you for second lead @varunmehndiratta. It was great to see @Chinthaka Ruwanand @Ilyaas well! See you all soon!

Hi @AlexPol. I will add you. Thanks Dear Desertnauts, as we are getting ready for the drive, here is some feedback from yesterday's recce drive (thanks @MUHAMMAD Kashif RAZZAQ for coming along). The drive will be clearly divided into 2 parts. The first in Al Ain territory, will be on open dune terrain, with relatively high formations, quite close to each other, but strung in a canyon's like fashion. The driving will be made more difficult by the presence of tracks, left by what appeared to be an earth moving machine, and visible pretty much all over the place. Even with these man-made obstacles, we'll make the drive challenging for ourselves by looking to move through the corridors at higher speeds, until we'll reach first the area close to the E20, then back toward Faqa, to arrive at the crossing of E14. This is where the second part of the drive will start, just in the Dubai side of Faqa's border district, across very tall and long range dunes, where occasional groups of trees hide in small valleys. More side-sloping and criss-crossing will be practiced in this area, less marked by recent human activity. Also thanks to @Jeepieand@Alex Raptorfor the great support, as always a pleasure seeing you both in action. Was a different drive to recent for me as has been a while since I did a newbie. I won’t lie seeing the fewbies in the distant and the lines they took in Sweihan had me a little envious to say the least but I also thoroughly enjoyed the pace in the new area , assessing the desert and different shape of the dunes with its steep slopes and high wind banks something to be careful of in the future. Was a personal exploration drive in a way for me while taking part in a newbie convoy. Also enjoyed watching and learning the support team guide newbies through refusals and how advice was given to new comers in handling their 4x4’s in tricky situations . Something I hope to be able to assist with more in the distant future after completing my needed drives towards intermediate and beyond. We we’re lucky in the morning with mist and how it firmed up the sand but once it dried up and the sun came out I appreciated just how super soft the sand can be in the area , more so then Badayer I think, also how beautiful it is! I am absolutely gagging to get back out there. @mikaeel shaik great drive from you I heard that you are a capable driver and I also was very impressed with your handling of the MG in that super soft sand. @Nabeel Abdul Rahmani kept my eye on you the whole time and you handled your patrol really well today. Just remember to be careful in the rear of the convoy in the churned up sand , always requires a little more thought and attention when driving to where you are putting your vehicle. Also too, get your radiator protected soon but really nice drive from you . @Walter Palkfirst time I have seen A track in action! Brilliant, once you learn how to use that tool properly will be fantastic for you never seen or appreciated it before myself. Really impressed with it. Lovely morning all round thanks to everyone. @PaoloMaraziti @Gaurav i have confirmation from someone passing yesterday that the border structure is there (cars still slowing down to not crash into posts) but nobody is manning them nor checking for any Al Hosn. The Vaccinated Remark is for entering malls and government buildings... some restaurants also ask for Al Hosn as proof of vaccines but some don't check...
