Hello ... Thank you guys for signing up and making it on time to the meeting point. It was a chilling day to start with and after the deflation and briefing we were on our way to hit the sand. It was a bit slow and difficult for us at the start with those cross tracks and churned up sand where we had few refusals , but every one did exceptionally well. Good work guys. After our share of initial refusals.. i think the convoy woke up 😜 and then we were all unstoppable.. It was a pleasure to drive with you guys and enjoyed it. Thank you @Matt.T for a well executed sweep and @Chinthaka Ruwan for all your help and support as the CF. You guys were amazing today. Though we had a very capable convoy..you guys were up to the mark when and where needed . Thank you guys. Thank you @Thomas Varghese and @Aisha Sfor your partial 2nd leads. You people managed to bring out your best as 2nd leads. well done and keep it up guys. @Aisha S..you did a great job in handling your car in those side slopes and soft sand.. good work and keep it up. @Adhir Saxena and @Gregory.. the Pajero boys of the convoy.. did really good .. You did catchup with the convoy in all the ways possible.. except a few times due to the super soft churned up sand.. 👏👏👏👍. @Bernard Kalaani, @munkybizness, @Chris Wing and @imranaasghar81...i believe you had a blast today.. didn't seem to have any issues and didn't hear much from you guys on the radio. Good work guys. Thank you all once again for a super charged drive and making it all the way to our exit point with out any issues. This drive was extra special as I got the chance to do two things: run through Area 53, and the second - meeting more new people at Carnity. Familiar names on the forums were unmasked (within restrictions) and it was an absolute pleasure to share this convoy with you fine folks. Area 53 unleashes a continuous ridge riding climb that makes it both challenging and insanely fun. Never a dull moment, thank you @Shaaz Shafor unraveling this area for me. In the center, @Chinthaka Ruwan, your 300k+ X is a beast that does not relent. Thank you for keeping the second half strung tightly to the forward. @imranaasghar81is so fly that he runs his lights during the day and is obsessing over the left side of the car that I don’t really think is askew. Put those eccentricities aside , and just hearing you roar up the bowls with sand flowing through your chromed wheels was a sight to behold. @Chris Wing, I am going to take a lot of lessons from how you made space, the lines you took when holding and the leisurely pace you took had me in awe. Sorry for bleeding your ears with my EDM. The drive was such a trance. @Bernard Kalaani, your topless look really suits you and following you helped me tune out and play some sick tunes, which inadvertently led to me putting a frown on my bash plate @Aisha S, you made short work of so many climbs today. Watching you and your SWB from a distance was a joy. And as @Thomas Vargheseput it, you’re the only Wrangler he’s seen not fishtail. Great control over your machine @Adhir Saxena, I look forward to driving with you soon! And @Gregory, two drives in one week with you on the same convoy is always a pleasure. @Matt.T, thank you for keeping the end tight See you all out on the sands again soon!

Great drive @sertac! Many thanks for choosing a nice route so that me in my new car ( @Thomas Varghese it was 422k, what’s with that huge discount my friend 🤣) got a nice workout AND my friends and I had an amazing time. They also understood why we drive in convoys now and were mightily impressed with all the helpful people around in the middle of a desert Special thanks to @Srikumarand @Warren FlayFor their assistance, it was very much appreciated especially with @PaoloMarazitirecent incident fresh in my mind 😱 PS @Fredericyou seemed a bit disappointed when you arrived on the scene mate? Not sure if it’s because you were expecting my FJ40 or because it was too late to render assistance !? hahaha Clearly it was my own fault for getting it stuck where I did but I learned to steer down quicker and use the power of the car even in the same ride a few times after this mishap, that’s what I’m looking to get out of this, fun and better driving so mission achieved and no need for apologies 🙏🏻 upwards & onwards guys !

@Chaitanya D a great Friday morning drive in superb terrain, thank you for leading us all through this area and giving opportunities for all drivers to practice going up and down dunes, side sloping and driving in technical areas. After a chilly early morning briefing we started our exploration. @John Vanderbleek showed his experience with a solid 2nd lead. @Anna Dillon did great in her first drive for a couple of months. One moment of hesitation led to a cresting but otherwise a good drive. @takeshi sobue handled his FJ very well with minimal issues. Just a small reminder to acknowledge radio messages so we know that you have received them. @Omar ElGamal After a few issues early on you drive really well. I hope your arms aren’t too sore today after the self-recovery effort 😉 @Imran Kashif Well driven, any hesitation you feel now will surely disappear soon with more drives. @Osama M grew in confidence as the drive went on and handled the big QX80 with great skill! @Bharath Rao Apart from a couple of unfortunate stucks from standing starts you drove great. The lesson with avoiding getting stuck from a stationary position is trying to avoid stopping on soft sand if possible and also on flat or a decline gradient. One blessing in disguise is that you got to practice self recovery twice which will benefit you in the future! @Salman Farooq I believe this was your first drive with Carnity so welcome to the club! You will overcome your hesitation as time goes on and avoid some of the situations you found yourself in yesterday. You did well in the self-recovery situation. Remember to follow radio instructions clearly and when a senior driver issues a left or right instruction it will always be your left and right, not theirs. Was a great drive! Slowly getting used to my truck, and dropping my tyres by an extra 2psi made a huge difference. As I said on the radio, nobody ever needs to apologise for any delays. It’s all part of the fun, and we learn together and support each other. Hope to see you all again soon!

@Shaaz Sha 3 drives in 3 weeks has been great! Thanks for another good one today - beautiful and challenging terrain in area 53.... thanks @Matt.T and @Chinthaka Ruwan for keeping us all together. Great to see familiar faces.. Appreciate everyone's patience towards the end when I didn't make that dune, and my subsequent try's - a bit disconcerting for me, as hasn't happened before - even though I know my rev limiter issue. Must now find some ways around the problem, and move forward. Have a good week everyone 👍

@Zedwe also need a high rated ratchet, the one I have holds up to 50 or 80kg. It will break as soon as you start inflating.

My first drive back after a year. Had a great day out, really lovely bunch of ppl on this drive. Looking forward to meeting you all again. Thanks @Brette for giving me the confidence of being in safe hands after my first drive back nerves!

I drive geo at 9 - 10 psi regularly and only popped once in last 5+ year due to unavoidable high speed bump at slip face. You can try again at 10 and avoid fighting gravity aggressively, as reported by Lawrence, by choosing higher lines. If you lose the line then little course correction is acceptable than sliding all the way through slip face, its lucky you had a pop out than a roll over. For pop out, as I mentioned to double check your rim offset compare to stock rims as that's where aftermarket rims pop out become difficult. If it's original, then Method should share the technique to use (if any) to fix these in desert. I was thinking of buying tire mounting lube after yesterday's incident, to see if tire seating for such difficult rims can be handled easily.

Thank you @Ale Vallecchi for the very nice drive this morning. It was great to go back to the DTC tracks, and to see that cutting through the technical areas was totally manageable for a group of good drivers. Still it was amazing to see the big cars, Y62 for @Rawad and @Lawrence_Chehimi, and the trucks of @Amir Amiriand @Dodi Syahdar keeping the flow in the tight dunes and narrow bowls. Congratulations for the lead @Ale Vallecchi, we did a great time, and it removes nothing to the performance of Richard@Wrangeld and his team. They did it discovering the WP on the spot, they are the real champions ! The second part of the drive, was just pleasure and enjoyment to wander through the wider area between Solar Park and Qudra, with a convoy in perfect configuration, 2 Jeeps, 2 FJs, 2 Y62, 2 trucks ! @Sunil Mathew, it was nice driving with you, @Archibald Jurdi also, I hope your car can get fixed without too much troubles (great mechanical support from @Lawrence_Chehimi). Thank you all for the drive !

@Hisham Masaad great drive today really enjoyed the climbs especially the snaking climb we did towards the end. This was a challenging drive and eveyone without exception drove Exceptionally well which made the whole experience very enjoyable thanks to @KAMALIO @Naim Aoun @Mohamad Anwer @Vaibhav @Reggie Landicho @Davie Chase @Mario Cornejo @Ahmad Shaker @Trekado @Fabien Monleau @Stav @Simon Claes @Alain Canivet-Abikhalil the support team were also assume as usual thanks again for a great drive

Very enjoyable drive and could see the skill levels improving as drive continued. Driving behind Chaita proved to be an easy task as he managed the drive to the skill levels of all. I am still learning about “Momentum”…it can be your friend if you learn to build and control it. Each driver and their vehicle develop momentum in different methods…learn with your vehicle how to develop it as your greatest friend…especially when you are in soft sand. Looking forward to next drive!

I remember in one of the drives F+ I guess we had I situation of difficult pop out fixing and instead of rope we used a ratchet ( same idea ) and worked like magic . If I remember it was @Jeandre Bezuidenhout idea .

yes i think safer to deflate again after bead is seated to prevent the pressure from flying to someone's face 😂 the ratchet method is just to seat the bead, may need to remind this before experimenting 😁

Trip Report That was an action packed drive - Fast pace sideys, criss crossing, a challenging recovery (in another convoy), technical dunes, shoveling, tugging, you name it, we had it all. I was driving with most members for the first time. So it was personally a challenge to set the right drive pace based on an unknown convoy strength. But the entire convoy was on the top of their game throughout the drive. We started off with a nice easy pacd in the long range dunes playing and circling on some nice virgin sands. That's when we got a call from @sertac's Fewbie convoy in Qudra, that had a vehicle stuck at a nasty angle. So off we went to help out in any possible way. When we reachwd the vehicle was already well secured and all it now needed was some careful manoeuvering. With some good team work from both convoy members and with Sertac behind the wheel, the car was recovered pretty quickly. From this point onwards the pace that was set was something every drive partipant should be proud off. With the convoy performing very well and us covering most of the long range dunes, I felt it's time to throw a different challenge, Technical dunes (closer to Little Sweihan). With patches of powder soft sand, the going started getting increasingly difficult. But what we didn't cover interms of distance, we compensated by some excellent teamwork. I am sure by the end of the drive every one had done their fair share of shoveling. As @Daniel Rodas mentioned I am still old school, rope is an option only after shoveling fails. An excellent SL by @Naveen Raj who still amazes me everytime with a 3.0 LWB Pajero and thanks to @Felix Obst for helping out with all the sweep duties. To the rest of the convoy members @Tom V @Alexanderrr @Daniel Rodas @Enrico Biscaro @Joji varghese @Rsjiv Samuel some brilliant driving and it was a pleasure driving with all of you. Dear passionate off roaders When I had my first absolute newbie couple weeks ago it was short cut by bad nose landing ( was entirely my fault and I know it ) . Thank God zero human injury and the Iron was repaired as brand new. Actually from that point the real story begins and I realized how important to see the things from different angles to analyse and to learn how to avoid various problems in the setting of off road dives .I searched the various resources online and I found what I was looking for in this respectful community. and now with all the support of all of you, especially @Gaurav who was the first who drove me to safety at the very beginning and to @Gaurav @Rahimdad and @Frederic whom I had the honour to drive under their leads where I got all support and help, I can proudly say that I got my first zero refusal/stuck after 4 drives in a row as a newbie including the absolute newbie. Special Thanks to @Chaitanya D my friend and colleague who spared no effort helping me find my current off road vehicle Xterra and all the tips along. I personally believe that off road drive has a unique learning curve climbing it requires time, patience, determination , awareness of the known common risks and problems and above all that sharing and transmitting what is available from knowledge in the scene either directly by witnessing it if possible ( situation might not allow at the scene like terrain condition , weather , and now covid19 time ) as safety comes on top of the list or indirectly by capturing pictures , clips ..etc for the stuck or refusal and how we deal with it . in carnity discussion I found about what went wrong in terms of off road accident or refusal or stuck and even wrong recovery techniques and discussion about it which is good to see mistakes of others or even own to learn and not to repeat. here I put the initiative and from our own drives how recovery either self or assisted is done by our expert leaders directly or under their direct supervision and I request every one if at all possible when we are not in motion to try take the chance to take some videos ( one hand cant clap ) from another angle so after each drive the one who didn't have the chance to see it live can at least see it here. discussion is open and I would appreciate the feedback from our leaders as always. Sounds interesting, let's do another pop out to test. Im always open to new ideas and this strap in center (I never heard before) sounds quiet logical to press all beads outward evenly, than just pulling from 4 sides.

Well what an eventful drive! My first at sweep and I have to say first of all, respect to all the previous sweeps out there, that soft Dubai sand REALLY gets choppy by the time nine other trucks have slid, skidded and wheelspun their way across it! We had a nice technical, ridgy didge track through the dunes with lovely cool temperatures to keep things calm. Quite a few refusals and stucks indicate the the challenge was real but I have to say, as usual the teamwork was tip top and we all swung in behind the fellows in need to get things moving again. We enjoyed a special 'learning event' when the mighty land whale of @Michel Van Woudenbergdecided to have a little lie down in a pocket which required managment intervention to help extricate. All good, lots of opinions voiced (thanks @Thomas Varghese) and a safe rescue was achieved. My thanks to @sertacfor planning an interesting course and to @Serafinofor keeping a steady hand on the tiller with a special mention to @ShereenMKrolling at number 9 in such a competent and sure footed way, I never had to worry about what was happening in front of me, I could just concentrate on picking the ruts I was going to plow through Already looking forward to the next one.

Really sorry to kept you all stuck in the desert for almost 2 hour. I learned every method to dealing with my method wheel including @JamesThorn@Wernodancing on the tire together 😛 I think those inside ridges are the problems. Anyway I will get a full size spare tire to avoid the same situation in the future and never drive below 10psi again.

Dear @siddharth maheshwari I am afraid, will be too difficult to extend the convoy. The limit for a FB drive is 12, which I have already extended to 14. It is all about control and safety, hope you appreciate and accept. Unless a drop out, will be difficult for you to join.

Thanks @Vanessa8580 for leading us through this lovely drive - the terrain, the weather and the above all the energy of the convoy all made it a perfect start to the weekend. A brief drive report All reached the meeting spot at scheduled time. Drive to meeting point with hot air balloons up in the beautiful morning sky and nice breeze had already set the mood. And if there was any element not fully energized was well covered during briefing by ever smiling Vanessa and the overall energy of the convoy. Deflated and flagged up, convoy entered the Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve at around 730am. As was the plan, with sun at our back, we drove South ending our drive at Al Qudra Cycle Path. Through the 3:30hrs drive, we explored the beautiful dunes, experienced some nasty soft patches of sand, enjoyed some fast drive at Sabkhas and thanks to Vanessa, convoy got some basic introduction to Criss crossing, an element of desert driving that i am sure all in convoy will have a chance to cherish further, as they move ahead in their off-roading experiences and ranks. Overall, we travelled around 42.3Km with moving time of 2hrs 32 min, at an average moving speed of 16.8Km/hr, really good for a newbie drive, especially considering the terrain. Its a good indication of how well the convoy as a whole performed. We had our fair share of refusals and stucks, however, overall all did very well through the drive. @Alfred Alinazar - thanks for your support at second lead, following Vanessa instruction to perfection through all re-routes and minor change in directions. Very well done. @Anton Dimov - From CF, i didnt had much of sight of your vehicle, however, from radio and little chats we had, understand you had almost a perfect drive with no refusals. @Simon Dawood You handled the pajero very nicely, you followed the lines well. As you would have noticed from your refusals, its all about approaching with the right momentum, so just dont be gas shy. @Joseph Raju - Very well driven, especially for your first NB drive. Super Safari is an awesome vehicle with lots of power in it and you handled it very nicely. As you would have noticed from your stuck at that soft patch, once the momentum is lost, there is no possibility to gain it back. So rather than trying to fight it, better to steer down in time and reattempt. @ahmed salama Man, your TJ is just awesome and you are very comfortable handling it. One small observation, follow the convoy tracks. Shortest distance between point A and B on a dune is not always the most suitable approach - especially on high dunes with plan to touch the ridge, key is to drive the curves/contours of the dune. I am sure you can relate it to the couple of refusals you had. @Gerrit Bus A prefect drive for you, as smooth as your awesome looking Gladiator. @Antony Abraham - There's no end to what Rubicon can do, dont shy away from giving some more gas and you are good to go. @Tom B and @Manish Kashyap - Being at end of a large convoy is never easy, however, you both had perfect drives with no refusals. Really well done. @Ahmed Wagdy - Thanks for your support as sweep and ensuring that convoy always stayed togather. @Karthik Raptor and @Dinesh Kumar A unfortunate that you had step out at last min. Thank you @Kailas for the beautiful drive this morning. You managed to draw lines suited to the group in this difficult area. We all enjoyed the sneaking through the dunes and the high climbs ! The group as a whole did very well, following the radio instructions, keeping correct distances between cars, holding patiently while fellow drivers where doing their recoveries. We did not have to use shovels neither ropes, this is definitely a sign that you were all attentive to the tracks, and carefully following instructions during self recoveries. @Marcin Wronowski, excellent job as 2nd lead, holding when needed on the instructions of @Kailas. You managed the climbs with a fully loaded car, very well done. @Premjit Vappala, you were a bit fast on the first dune crossings, (watch the pic in the gallery) but this was corrected during the drive. You will continue to improve the balance of the car on the side slopes. @Joao, very well managed you FJ. You will continue to experience the beautiful capabilities of this car. @Juan Carlos Prego Perez, you will continue to improve your confidence after a few drives. Correct tire pressure has improved a lot the capabilities of the car. @JERINE_B, pay attention to side slopes and remember not to fight gravity, meaning steering down as soon as you loose momentum. Listen carefully to guidance during recoveries, and you will see you can get out easily in many circonstances. @Muhammad Qasim, very well driven, you are cautious and attentive to the track. @Sanjay Malik, it was a pleasure to see your LC quietly passing through the obstacles with no issue at all, very well driven. Thank you all for this nice morning in the sand. See you in a next drive !
