Another interesting drive from Dr @M.Seidam. The theme of the drive was very enticing and we started with a nice pace and a lot of climbs. I was missing these kinda drives with carnity where the entire convoy is flowing most of the time instead of one by one climbs on each dune. Looking forward to more of these drives as the adrenaline rush never takes a break. The first half of the drive was very pumping with @Hisham Masaadright on @M.Seidam's tail and taking the entire convoy through climbs and dips at a great pace. After a couple of refusals and lost tracks, Doc decided to slow things a bit and the pace was reduced but the climbs were still exhilarating. Amazing support by @Pacific and was great to meet old faces @Jaro Tuzinsky @Zulfikar @Bashar Beasha @Joseph Raju . Great driving guys. @Joseph Raju You surprised me in a couple of climbs bro. @Jaro Tuzinsky The self recovery from that soft bowl was just amazing. I was expecting you to take more time @Zulfikhar Naiyar You need to understand the power band of the X. Once you do that, you will be unstoppable! Sorry if I didn't mention the drivers in front as I was at the fag end and couldn't enjoy seeing your cars. All in all, a great drive with amazing drivers. Looking forward to the next one. Good morning desert crew, I had a tough program yesterday after the drive so it took me a while to say "thank you". I really, really liked the drive it was another Carnity old school drives with stops and explanations. And Sweihan will always be a different beast - Kudos to the newbies who were able to manage a newbie+++ without any major stucks. Great enjoyment also for upper level drivers. There was a lot of stuff that I got to know today with you guys, like making a loop, tricky descends, and driving on long dunes. But @Srikumar@Asif Hussain your guidance made things look easy 😊. It was the first time I got to know about the upshift issue in manual mode with my vehicle and due to that I was losing momentum in a lot of places where I needed power. Nevertheless, I had a great experience with the whole team and meeting everyone. Thanks to the whole team as well. 😊

@Davie Chase Thank you for a wonderful drive you gave us as I was expecting more excitements compare to newbie drives I attended previously but I got more than what I expected, it was a fantastic experience and really enjoyed the new level of drive with you. @Gary F It was my first experience following the second lead and I got more confidence by watching your drive, it seems you drive very easily on the sand and it was so nice to follow your tracks except I got couple of tale swing I couldn't control it sometimes. When I tried to push more I got stuck. @Benjamin I became your fan after this drive your helps were amazing appreciate your assistance from behind, sides and wherever needed you were there bro, and you are so cool always. @Islam Soliman Your guidance helped a lot to recover from everywhere and I learned a lot from you on my first fewbie drive as I had never got stuck on any of my newbie drives so it was a big learning experience too. thank you so much. Thank you very much everyone who drove behind me and helped when I got stuck, it was nice seeing a teamwork everywhere we face a problem, hope we will see again on next drive.

Although, I had to drop out of the drive in the middle due to the issues with my car, the drive till then was absolutely amusing. Special thanks to all the members in the drive who had to stop the convoy whenever there was an issue. As with my car, will get all issues sorted and ready for the next drive.

One of my favorite topics...a Manual gearbox. Firstly, I love the feel of a manual gearbox especially while driving on the sand. No overheating issues, no upshifting issues and if you are reasonably careful they will outlast an automatic transmission any day. As Fred said, however much your experience of driving manual on the road is, off-road is very different. You will definitely burn your clutch in the initial phase. How many clutch sets you go through depends on how fast you learn not to ride the clutch. I prefer the vehicle to stall 10 times rather than ride the clutch once. But before you jump into a manual Xterra, I would check the following: 1. What are the gear ratios of the manual Xterra vs the automatic version. In some cars like the XJ the manual gearbox has a superior first gear ratio than in the automatic, letting you drive at high speeds on 1st gear. 2. If these gearboxes are not common, what would you do when one fails? Are they places (in US or a scrappy) where you can find a replacement. After struggling with quite a few bad scrapyard and rebuilt gearboxes over the past 2-3 years, last year I finally was able to source a new gearbox from the US. Costed a bomb, but I am glad I took the call. Some points that you ought to consider before buying a Manual Xterra.
