@Srikumar do you usually have a morning Newbie drive in Qudra or it is only evening.
Meanwhile i drove once in the absolute newbie level as last drive my friend @Khaled Abdalla was the one that drove so i think it is better to drive absolute one more time before moving to newbie or what do u think?
Absolute newbie drives are strictly reserved for the first timer in sand, so that they can learn and progress with very basic level of driving and shorter drive time for a safer introduction to sand offroading.
Once you and your friend @Khaled Abdalla has attended the absolute newbie drive, you should be joining the newbie drives to enjoy more and progress faster.
If all newbie drives are full, leave your and your friend (whoever wants to drive) name in the drive topic as we have plenty of drop outs usually on Wednesday and Thursday.
Just to be fair with everyone, wait list is prepared based on first come first serve, so sooner you post your name in the waitlist, better are your chances to get on the Friday drive.

I see you are driving a FJ Cruiser. I know it is tempting to change the looks of your car, but in my opinion your car is stock already very capable and good looking.
Try to resist the mods etc, drive it for at least a summer and winter season. Then you'll know more which direction you want to go.

I'm glad you ask this question and everyone above has helped you enough with the best of the knowledge.
Air filter alone is enough to make your throttle more responsive (which you will feel) but wont add any or much hp without tune up and other power mods like headers, exhaust, straight pipes, high performance plugs and wires etc.
I love what Fredy mentioned as many times, used car or 4x4 owner run behind big names and big mods and often miss the basics that can actually add lost hp just by fixing those basics.

@Kieran McKeown my friend got some used coils and wider tires in Sharjah for pennies , increased his ground clearance and made a huge difference in his 2006 trail blazer. I think it would be a good upgrade for your car 😁
Trail blazer stock ground clearance is a concern, but not for Renault Duster.
Although Renault Duster is 4WD but still it's not a proper 4x4 as it's not having a low range gearing, so you cannot really make duster a weekend desert toy, unless he is only joining the newbie drives.
Secondly I feel in Duster it's gear upshifting is a major concern than anything else.

Well then it's your own fault for doing that! Lol
Well that's the same fault, I meant to share and highlight here before people go happy with gas peddle on low gear with brakes on, as GM didnt bother to put a cap on how much rev is needed.

Not really this is popularly know as the poor man's difflock. I myself have tried it a couple of times with mixed results.
This is no different than doing a standing burnout and less stressful on the drive train.
I know this poor man's difflock technique very well because I have blown my Land Cruiser front differential during one of the desert challenge in 2006 while trying the same stunt. It costed me 4500 diff and labor extra.
If you give hi rev in low range gear with brakes on, you will have the same result "UNLESS OTHERWISE" specified that rev up to 2,000 RPM or so.

Brake and Throttle Modulation for Enhanced Mobility The use of this technique will give the driver the ability to traverse challenging obstacles with more confidence, safety and care to both the vehicle and the terrain. It allows the driver to gain control of the vehicle systems and place power and wheel torque where it is needed most. This is how it works: For logs, walls, rocks, severe ditches, etc. 1. Bring the vehicle to a complete stop. Do not overspeed the engine. 2. Select the proper transmission and transfer case gear range, usually FIRST (1) gear, 4LO Lock for such obstacles. 3. If wheel spin is experienced, let up on the throttle to slow the wheel spin. 4. Slowly, press the brake pedal with your left foot so all wheel spin is halted. 5. With the brake still applied, start pressing the throttle. As the engine gains power, gradually reduce the pressure applied to the brake. You can “feel” torque being distributed to the wheel that has the most traction as the vehicle starts to move. Once the vehicle is moving, hold the brake steady until all four wheels have cleared the obstacle. 6. After the first wheel crosses the obstacle, be prepared to modulate the brake and throttle for the other wheels. 4-23 For mounds, washouts, loose up-hill slopes, ditches, etc. When wheel spin occurs as the vehicle is moving, the driver may notice a slight shaking or shuddering of the vehicle. This is the indication that a loss of traction is occurring on this terrain. The operator should: 1. Reduce throttle. 2. Assess the terrain properly and adjust vehicle speed and gear ranges accordingly, 4HI or 4HI Lock position for higher speed, 4LO Lock for more torque and lower speeds. 3. Apply slight pressure to the brake when the shaking or shuddering sensation is felt, keeping the vehicle moving at a constant and controlled speed. 4. Be prepared to modulate the brake and throttle through the adverse terrain.
#Copied from Hummer H2 Owner's manual
This without any precise description will break your front or rear differential in seconds.
LO gear torque + Brake = Recipe for 5,000 - 10,000 dhs instant damage.
Very surprised to see Hummer putting this in owner's manual without any indicative rev band. With H2 torque I guess anything above 1.5-2.0K RPM will result in instant grinding noise of differential pinion gear.

RTA approval for adding Stickers on our car
in Nissan Xterra Forum in UAE
Posted
Sorry for late replies.
RTA testing center WILL FAIL renewal/new registration passing test for even a smallest stickers (K&N, Borla, Club stickers etc.). As per rule book, they supposed to do that. Now some centers and some inspectors are bit lenient and leave the small stickers with a close eye, but for big one like this star on the door it will surely fail.
Stickers that come stock with cars are only acceptable. Period.
Usually small inconspicuous sticker like some club stickers will get border line ignored or call owner to remove while passing.
If your friend has gone through with some big stickers and passed the test that does not guarantee that you will also pass. If they fail, you will loose 170 dh for re-test.
Different Topic
Adding another color to registration card can be done while registering the car with a form to add additional color on your mulkia. My stock car has two colors but it showed Silver on mulkia and up until 2 years back registration guy made me fill that form to add brown too. That paper is for CID (i guess) as it was in arabic and I had no clue on what I signed but in mulkia now it shows Silver + Brown.
Different Topic
Dubai police repainting procedure is totally different subject to talk and seek approval, even when you need to repaint full car with same color.
