  1. @MisterPoet - DIY tips

If the toothpaste scenario dint last longer than expected :P, I would suggest to go with the sand paper rub with water + headlight polish and to complete it with a clear coat spray. (Take a 3-5 minute break after every stage)

Highly recommend brand Rustoleum enamel clear coat as I had bought 2 CANS for 60aed from Souq/Amazon, Also used the remaining on my rims for a glossy finish, make sure you do all this in a closed area, You might need 1-2 hours to complete all the above, Do watch couple of youtube videos on the same for more tips and materials required for a perfect job !!

    Enjoy, All the best !!

I will change solenoids today and see if there is any changes, Paj is driving very rough but accelerates fine

There is no Vibrations on Low Speed,

Vibration on Idling which disappears after some seconds

    Vibration when fan cuts off

Vibration on Slow Driving - Like in traffic

Take it to a Auto electrician who can inspect all the 4WD switches and censors prior purchasing any parts.

As per my understanding, under the hood below the air filter is the Solenoid switch (Its 1 set with 2 switches)

Then underneath the vehicle, front differential area you will be able to find the actuator switches and the double switch, Some of them have have 6 whereas my 3.5 2015 GLS has only 5.

I'm not sure if all of the mentioned will cause any vibrations.

@Sidshk Did u change your timing belt recently ?

In my view, show it to good AC technician rather than mechanic who knows too little about AC and think by topping up gas they have mastered the HVAC system.

While back somebody here was appreciating a place in DIP, can't rem the name. I think @desertdude or @Jeh made that recommendation.

    @Derick

During your visit to the AC technician, You should consider the extra cooling fan as @Fuad was suggesting, I have come across several other Pajero owners mentioning the same.

In addition to that, Its proven that normal window tint can provide upto 30-40% of heat rejection, while the premium tint can provide heat rejection upto 70-80%.

    All the best !!

    Friends,

My 2012 Honda Accord's side view mirrors paint got ripped off in last 1 year. It's like the paint is getting torn apart in pieces due to driving air pressure.

Any recommendations how to cover it up either with a redo of paint job or the car exterior paper sticker (like carbon black)? Please mention the cost estimations and if the job could be done on DIY

Considering longevity, I would suggest to go for a paint job especially if you intend to use this vehicle for the next few years. (It shouldnt cost you much if its only the side mirrors)

Stickering options wont last and you will have to redo it in couple of months time (50 to 100 aed depending on the quality of the material used and the place)

Good luck @MATHEW FELEX I stopped trusting comparison sites soon after they boom here because everyone is in rat race to beat the price and cut solid corners on customer service.

We buy insurance to have peace of mind than just filling documents for RTA renewal, and if that fails in time of need its pointless to save 50 or 100 dhs. I learned it hard way too.

Check with your insurance about road side assistance and add to multi-emirates as you don't wanna get stuck in Sharjah workshop if you live in Al ain. This was the latest result of cutting corners since few years now. You will only face the surprise when you call recovery and he will say NO for inter-emirates drop off.

I was in a hurry though I tried my best to compare all the inclusions, exclusions and additional options that was provided,

With 0 claims, I paid 1744 AED for BASIC Comprehensive, Additional 200Aed for Rental car benefits upto 7days, Deductible : 350 AED fixed, no agency repair and no specified workshop or area mentioned, could be any of the approved Noor takaful garage in Sharjah or anywhere in the UAE :( )

However, below listed were my main considerations :

    1. Estimated Vehicle value :  59k, 2015 LWB

    2. Geographical Area Coverage : UAE & Oman (For oman only own damage)

    3. Off road cover : (Some of them offers a tricky coverage which mentions only off road pullout or within a limited distance from the road, Noor Takaful did not mention any limitations that I could find to read, other than below )

    - Off Road Cover (4x4 / SUV with off-road capability only) : YES

    - Off road & desert breakdown recovery : YES

    - 24 hours accident & breakdown recovery : YES

    - Towing Support : YES (Not sure if its free or there's going to be a charge :p)

    4. Windscreen Damage : Upto 3.5k

    5. Personal Accident, Driver & Passenger : 200k respectively.

    6. Third party liability for bodily injury : Unlimited

    7. Third party property Damage : AED 2 M

and many more standard coverage which is offered by all others potential insurance companies these days like coverage for Natural calamities, riot, strike, loss of personal belongings (upto 4k only), Legal liability extended to include family members/passengers as third party, Emergency medical expenses (upto 4k only), Ambulance Services etc.

Anyways, thanks @Gaurav, totally agree to your comment especially on the surprise part after-all life is full of surprises !!

I have been using several car insurance in Dubai, since 2002 and based on my personal experience I found that RSA and AXA are one of the best car insurance that you can get in UAE.

Lately RSA started offering highly competitive rates without compromising on their standards, so I highly recommend RSA.

Here are the few things that I completely love about RSA Car Insurance:

    • No headache roadside assistance without any Emirates clause or limitation.
    • Offroad cover comes by default for all 4x4.
    • Offroad cover does cover dunes and desert than road side loose gravel - 50 meter clause.
    • Oman coverage also comes by default or on request without impacting the premium (at least in my case).
    • Get a very good no-claim discount, that I don't find any other car insurance cheaper than RSA.
    • Claim department works perfect - as I had one claim when someone hit my car.
    • Repair job was of perfect quality - done by Eurogulf - good garage - bit time consuming though.
    • Last but not least, once you cancel the insurance they refund remaining months without any drama.

This time, RSA car insurance have exceeded my expectations for refund by far.

When I sold my car recently I forgot to take the registration card copy. Tried to reach the new buyer since 4 days but he is not responding or willing to send me the new registration copy for some odd reasons. I explain the same to RSA and they send me a refund form and process the refund within 1 business day.

Now, that's what I call an awesome customer service while taking money and while giving back money.

Keep it up RSA, you guys are rock star.

@Gaurav - I wish if you had posted this day before :P  as I already renewed my insurance with Noor Takaful after having a comparison with OIC, Tokyo Marine from Policy Bazaar.

Anyways RSA will definitely be in my RFQ process next year :)

Thanks guys for so many responses.

Why can't we use parking light (half headlight switch) instead of DRL that can also offer better visibility to vehicle behind me in low visibility area or weather?

I'm more concerned from vehicle behind me than how do I look for vehicle in front of me.

Always recommend to use parking lights that can offer better visibility during day time with low visibility/ weather.

I'm sorry If I sounded offensive in any way, What I meant is that if you notice the vehicles with DRL's are more visible in the mirrors than the others without the DRL's

By the way - Whats this post supposed to mean... treat everyone equally ? no matter about the brands ? When you leave the world. you cant take even a drop of blood ? haha - I believe Its not what you take when you leave this world behind you, Its what you leave behind you when you go

It's mostly for countries that are dark as in cloudy and overcast most of the year even during daytime.

It's mandatory in Canada. Surprised someone from the US doesn't know this?

Agree, not only in Canada or the US but also now in Asian countries especially in India its mandatory for the manufacturers to equip AHO function for the two wheelers !

By the way, Car manufacturers these days are launching newer model every year with minimal cosmetic changes, which is mainly by fitting DRL's to the bumpers.
