@Zed You just missed it. Thats all I can say. Amazing adventurous trip by @Chaitanya D
I know bro @Karthikeyan Govindarajan, that is why I always sign-up if Dr @Chaitanya D is coming to Abu Dhabi... lesson learned for me is: when the Doctor is coming, hold & don't send your car to garage 😂😂😂

Dear friends
My pcr is negative but it is not updated in al hosn.
I will be updating here if I will be able to cross the border.
Please keep a watch for the updates here .
As of now the drive is as planned
Stay Safe @Chaitanya D, keep us up-to-date. In case there's border delay and you'll reach by 9pm, there's a chance I can join tonight since Musaffah to Yahar is just 1 hour drive 😁

Dear Dr. @Chaitanya D, apologies I just removed myself from RSVP for tonight, as the car garage just called and told me the engine oil & transmission fluid service will only be finished by 8pm tonight (previously promised this morning will be done)... so I won't make it in time ☹️
But I hope to join your Newbie drive the next morning (assuming the garage is true to the promise tonight)...

@Chaitanya D, I am pulling out myself from this drive. But I will be seeing you in Thursday’s night fewbie drive.
thank youYeah timing's pretty tight bro @Karthikeyan Govindarajan if you attend both... I might even sleep in the nearest gas station rather than go back to the city 😂

Re-gearing is a performance mod and not a power mod.
You won't have more wheel powers with re-gearing but make a best use of existing wheel power.
LC100 is inherently underpowered for long hill climb (I suffered for 2 years), and adding 15 kgs more per wheel will seriously limit your long hill climb even after the re-gearing.
Jeepers get away with re-gearing to a greater extent as stock wrangler runs in 130-140 hp/ton bracket vs LC100 90-100 hp/ton.
Again agree @Gaurav, but life will be so boring if we all have the same views ☺️
1. 15kgs per wheel is assumption many would make especially when ppl think bigger tires = LT (Light Truck) rating. Fact is on https://www.yokohamatire.com/tires/geolandar-a-t-g015 and let's compare spec on spec:
275/70/R16 (old tires) : unit weight 41.8 lbs x 4 = 167.2 lbs = 75.84 kg
P285/70/R17 (new tires and not LT!) : unit weight 45 lbs x 4 = 180 lbs = 81.64 kg
Is it really 15kg diff in total? Well 81.64 - 75.84 = 5.8 kg only, almost 3x over-assumption ☺️
2. Agree with your power mod preference, but re-gearing is still a mechanical improvement before we start messing with the engine. We all get carried away with so much wisdom but forget the simple fact when we were kids: when we use Mountain Bike to climb uphill, do we use the "stock gear" or do we change to a gear that allows us to pedal many times for a single wheel rotation that makes it a bit easier to climb with the bike ☺️
3. Yes the LC100 is a heavy beast due to the Iron Block Engine and Toyota purposely tuned it down (make it slow) to last 1,000,000 miles as a towing truck and overlanding. But right now at my level, it's nice cos I can take the family for camping and light offroading. I already took out the running boards and 3rd row seats to make the LC100 a bit lighter, but if I want to become Expert in Carnity, agree I won't use the LC100. I'll get the highest Power-to-Weight ratio I can get: probably a short-wheel-base Nissan VTC that I can later tune to 1,000 horsepower with just 40,000 dirhams extra like below shot ☺️ But i'm in no hurry to climb that ladder yet... still enjoying my honeymoon with the LC100 and overlanding with fam...

Good luck for hill climbs now with almost 33 inch tires, unless you have done some good power mods.
@Gaurav yups, re-gearing to 4.88 to get more wheel powers 💪🏻 😄

Dear all, I've upgraded to Methods 703 BeadGrip + 285/70/R17, so I'm selling my previous Yokohama Geolandar G015 275/70/R16. Bought them for around ~2000aed in Feb 2021. They ran about ~5,000kms now, still long way to go for 10,000kms rotation. Since I don't go offroading every weekend, they've been used in 6 Newbies + 1 Fewbie Carnity Drives only.
Willing to deliver anywhere in Abu Dhabi & Dubai, so hopefully good value here 😁
PCD/Bolt Pattern is 5x150, compatible with Toyota Land Cruiser 100, LC 200, Lexus LX 470, LX 570, Sequoia, Tundra

It was well worth the trip coming from Abu Dhabi! 😊 Thank you @Luca Palanca Falsini for leading this trip and @Dodi Syahdar for 2nd lead. This is my 1st Fewbie after promotion and man I saw & learned soo many things today:
- witnessed 2 pop-outs 😲 and how to fix them.
- a car got stuck on the crest, one of the hardest recovery I think, but good learning how to get unstuck.
- a beasty car in front of me spun on the ridge, and my rollover horror flashed back. Lucky for him, he managed to reverse slowly downhill 👍🏻
- if you can't make it to the top, don't force it... some of the ridge riding i steered downwards cos felt the car wouldn't make it to the top.
Looking forward to more Fewbie drives, time to invest on that skid plate to flatten the ridge 😁

Due to very unfortunate circumstances, I will not be able to lead this drive...
Dear @Lorenzo Candelpergher hope everything's alright and works out...thank you for arranging 👍🏻 Dear @Luca Palanca Falsini my car is Land Cruiser 100-series, the Patrol has been pushed back to absolute newbies and mall-crawling only 😂 *one of these days I need to update my profile pic 😄 Looking forward in meeting you and following your drive tomorrow 👍🏻

This is brilliant, i just searched "bike tail light" and got 2 bundled as a pair. Visible enough for car behind to guesstimate the distance from front 😊 Thanks @Chaitanya D for this tip 👍🏻

@Zed okay your app looks awesome! I have downloaded it and will play around tomorrow! Thanks for sharing.
When you connect, make sure to click the checkbox "Find more ECUs" (screenshot below), it will take longer to connect (almost 5mins) but will find every reading hidden by the manufacturer 😁

hi @Niki Patel good to see fellow OBD-enthusiasts 👋🏻 I use Motordata OBD (screenshot below), cos it has an option to do "Extensive Search" while connecting, and the log shows it tries to connect to every possible controller from Climate Control to ABS. The most popular one is Torque but I find it lacking and for a phone the Dial Gauges are too small too see, maybe they are better suited for RAM-mounted Tablets or Android radios 😁. If you use iPhone I believe your OBD Dongle is WiFi instead of Bluetooth?

My LandCruiser has a Pentium4 processor in its ECU, as such just like we monitor everything that's automated by computers, I want to collect what sort of parameters are good both for onroad & offroad driving. I'll start with below, mainly for offroading:
1. Vehicle Speed: seems redundant cos we have speedometer, but mine is in Miles per Hour, so having KM/h is important to avoid speed cameras 😂 Additionally any minute drop in speed means i'm losing power for momentum.
2. Gear Actual: unfortunately my OBD dongle doesn't connect to the transmission ECU so I can't get the transmission temperature to check for overheating. But at least I know constant shifting of gears will overwork my transmission 😁. A bit moot cos I drive in Manual nowadays, but when the terrain is flat I do switch it back to D and let it cruise on sand.
3. Engine Load: it should be up & down, something that continuously goes up to 100% means we are maximizing our engine power and may lead to engine overheating which is why the next value is Engine Temp 😃
4. Engine Coolant Temp: a bit redundant as we have it on cluster panel, but at least we know if it reaches 100 Celsius 😁
5. Throttle Position: sometimes you floor it, but it doesn't show 100, so things to check: throttle cable if not drive-by-wire, or throttle sensor for newer cars with pedal-by-wire. Sometimes it may even mean too thick carpet that prevents full pedal being pushed all the way down 😁

I am not sure if we really need to revise the start time as of now, but i will keep you posted.
The previous drive to Bu Tais I left home 4am thinking I have ample time to reach by 6am. Then halfway through around 5am, fog settles in and I have to drive below 80km/h to prevent fines (speed cameras automatically adjust to 80 if fog is detected). I reached around 6:15-6:20am but was surprised people were there before me with tyres deflated. Moral of the story: I should have left at 3am, don't assume no fog 😅 Even if we arrive too early, we can make use of the time to sleep and the Marshall will knock your window to wake you up when it's time 😄

If you have the Al Hosn app with the yellow 'E' can you access Abu Dhabi without need for test?
hi @Warren Flay kindly refer to ADMediaOffice screenshot on this page >> https://www.instagram.com/p/CKqh0YBBBh8/?igshid=ce2jn0ytcmqk
The footnote says u don't need test to enter Abu Dhabi, but the E icon is green with outer yellow. Not sure if this is the same icon you have on your Al Hosn.

I was about to ask how you are managing drives in Abudhabi, I am waiting to get my second dose to join drives in Abudhabi.
@Lakshmi Narasimhan you don't need to wait for second dose, you can do DPI (blood test) in exit after LegoLand. The trick is you have to alternate DPI-then-PCR for your second trip to Abu Dhabi. You can't do DPI-then-DPI again.

whoa, hope everything ok there @Chaitanya D, and it's just needing Differential Oil change. If the noise gets louder when you accelerate, then it may be the differential bearing... hopefully it's the former tho 🤞🏻
