@Srikumar yes for sure i am glad we found this at this time and not during DCT. Also happy that we were able to overcome the issues and get both @PETELCZYC PAJERO - luke and @Felix Obst out safely, due to the whole convoy pitching in especially @Fabien Monleau and @Benjamin true team carnity effort :)

Obviously I am always a risk because I love to play in the sand 😂😂😂

@DP1011 that's again a push back. Thank you for your advice l. Let me try to identify what's best for my car in the next drive.. I been trying to push in road even to keep the Rev up and aggressive and tell the ecu you are made to offroad and even in road you keep it high and when i push down the gas pedal you just go...last time I felt like my engine was not responding as before... Hope good days ahead in desert driving..

@Abhilash Kottakkal I recently changed from BFG to Yokohama Geolander and what you were experiencing is true. A friend of mine was calculating the following (not sure if this is correct but I guess there are a lot of other Carnity experts to comment), he said I have a weight difference per tire by 5 KG so the Yokohamas are 5 KG lighter. Multiplied by 4 tires its 20 KG which makes a difference of 200KG in over axle weight. Which means you have "two and a half men" on top in your car and honestly I can feel it on and Offroad. On road due consumption went down and Offroad higher climbing and better soft sand performance and I had to retrain my gearing behavior in the desert because the engine rpm goes higher more easily. Of course the sidewalls are not that beefy thats why I decided to go for beadlocks at the same time to still air down to 8 PSI without pop-out danger. (no recommendation this was just a decision I took for me).

These are my short observations after almost 4 years BFG.

I hope this helps and I hope even more you'll not regret your choice on the other hand I was super happy the last 4 years with BFG airing constantly down to 1 digit PSI without any pop-outs.

Please let me know in case of any questions.

  3. Good morning desert crew,

I had a tough program yesterday after the drive so it took me a while to say "thank you". I really, really liked the drive it was another Carnity old school drives with stops and explanations. And Sweihan will always be a different beast - Kudos to the newbies who were able to manage a newbie+++ without any major stucks. Great enjoyment also for upper level drivers. Thank you @Srikumar for your lead and route, @Salim Akhtar and @Asif Hussain for support. And very special thanks to @Vanessa8580 its good to have you back!

    What a drive!

Thank you @Hisham Masaad for organizing this Fewbie/Intermediate quick and crazy drive on a Friday morning and executing it to perfection. I say perfection because the convoy showed up sharp at 5 am, the briefing was quick, we experienced everything the desert could offer AND hit the tarmac at EXACT 8 am. This is not easy.

Refreshing lines by the King Emperor of Badayer. We enjoyed even the technical portions. My first experience of a Yalla Push drive from the man that coined the term and I am still craving for more.

The highlight was the surprise play area which was nestled among hidden dunes. I am sure not many people know about this place even though Badayer is a popular offroading spot. Somehow, Hisham found it and took us through the secret passage to play in the virgin sand bowls. When I heard Hisham on the radio - " guys just bear with the tech portions for 5 mins, we are going to a nice play area", I knew something special was coming up :)

My admiration to the fewbies today - @Marketa Dobesova @Pavel Pashkovskiy @Abdelghani. You guys were the real heroes of today. You were pushed beyond your limits and you emerged without spilling blood and I know you guys enjoyed it as well.

@Pavel Pashkovskiy Great stuff today. Heard a lot about your special coffee and I got to experience your hospitality today. I had to drag myself out of bed with 3 alarms and you had the time to make fresh coffee for us. Love the sandrunner BTW. It sounds sweet.

@Mohamad Anwer Don't hate the Nissan, old friend. The jeeps played your mind today. Great stuff as usual in the SL position. You brought your usual dose of humour to the drive today :)

@Marketa Dobesova It was a pleasure meeting you and 🌻. I don't believe you're in fewbie level. After all, you were one of the very few that made the climb in the first attempt.

@DP1011 Driving with you after a long time. Amazing CF stuff as usual. Laid back driving and eating up the dunes as nobody's business.

@Felix Obst Driving like its a newbie drive. Just floating on the sand without a sound. no re-attempts whatsoever and asking for more 😜

@Pacific Amazing support as usual and thank you for watching my back. I know you were thinking to sell the jeep and buy an Xterra. Mine is not for sale 😝

@Benjamin The designated sweep. I've lost count of drives that you were the sweep man. Don't do it so well and you will only have churned sand on all your drives. Jokes aside, impeccable driving and clear communication to the Marshall on convoy status. Well done!

@Ignacio Quindós Followed us everywhere even with the churned sand from all the wranglers up front. It was truly an intermediate drive for you and Benjamin.

@Abdelghani We all know you are not a fewbie. Don't hide behind that badge :) However, you did magic with the stock FJ. You should drive the black one next time. I want to see you fly!

Overall, today's drive satisfied the offroader in me, thanks to @Hisham Masaad

Looking forward to driving with you guys again.

Until then, Keep calm and don't watch offroading videos on YouTube, the PTSD is real!

P.S. If anyone has a video of me flying in iftar bowl, Please whatsapp it on +971 526334562. It would be much appreciated.

Thank you @Krishna R for the nice and comprehensive summary. Always a pleasure to drive and have smalltalk with you! Have a great weekend!

I wanted to share the planned area for coming weekend. Below you can see the Bermuda triangle we are planning to concquer.

The Idea will be to drive along the pylon track and make our way to Marker 1 (top of the triangle). Then move in a straight as possible line to Marker 2, and then further on to Marker 3, and from there back to Marker 1.

As you all know we don't usually drive in a straight line in the desert, so the challenging part will be to try to stick to that line as much as possible, even if that included going over slip faces and other obstacles :)

This also means instead of the smooth flowing drives that i am usually well known for, this could be quite an intense drive with lots of struggles 😁

Anyways i am sure we will have fun in the sand as always and can afterwards print out a screenshot of our track and it will look 99% like below. Although that would be a real bonus :)

If you have not driven in the dark yet, no worries. If you have additional night lights on your 4x4 that will help but it's not mandatory as you will be following the convoy anyways.

    See you soon !

    😂😂😂 I love the idea!!!

  6. Hi @Davie Chase

it was the missing link in the journey with you that I a will be part of your first drive as a Marshall! It was a nice workout this weekend and when I look at the drive pics it seems that enjoying scenic view was @Loopers convoy and we were the shovel part of the title. Thank you @DP1011 was a pleasure as always to ride with you!

I wish you all a nice recovery I hope you are not too sore and a great start into the week!

    Regards,

    Felix

Congratulations @Felix Obst! Well deserved! Never seen Intermediate drives at Carnity 😁, but maybe you start organizing them! One day we will drive together on some proper drive! At Carnity it might take years to wait, but finger crossed, who knows 😁😁

😂 I don’t think this message is really for me! But thank you @Pavel Pashkovskiy for the wishes! Be sure I will send a picture from an intermediate drive! C u soon!

I bought a 4-way hose, but I don't use it. All things being equal it takes more time to set up the 4-way hose and to pack it back than a single hose. Plus, I have a bluetooth module and when a tire is full, I switch off the compressor (just a soft switch off) and change the hose from tire to tire - this gives the compressor a few mins to cool down.

Having said that - I would encourage you to go ahead with the project, as it is worth doing for the experience irrespective of all other factors and wishing you all the best.

Same here I also bought 4 for my ARB, but I recently bought another Jeep and there was a compressor build in with 2 hoses. I think that's the real sweetspot. Way less space and hassle. So I would always recommend 2 instead of 4 at least because that's easier and more fun to use.

to the details: I bought mine for 600 and in sale instead of 700 at quickflate - it comes with a digital gauge and it is a really good quality. (quickflate_uae on insta)

  11. Hey all,

It was a really nice route this morning and I enjoyed the pace we were having - just interrupted by some other desert experts :-).

I couldn't say good bye to you because my help was needed in the desert and I headed back for the driving directors cut! So please accept this as my formal good bye and see you next week! I enjoyed the group dynamic very much today and I like to meet familiar faces every week!

Thank you for the good teamwork! And special thanks to the our leader @Varun Mehndiratta in his shiny half-door Rubicon!

    Have a nice weekend!
