tenace
Well, first of all you need to check your vehicle and see if everything is fine especially if you are planning a long trip. I would personally recommend using SUV if you are planning to wander around Dubai. You should also take plenty of water just in case.
victor
Get basic gear before entering the desrt atleast: Shovel, Compressor, Tow rope, Shackle, Tire repair kit, Jack, wooden board for jack and plenty of friends to enjoy and support in case you need any help. NEVER EVER DRIVE ALONE IN DESERT...
Popular Post CARiD
Off-roading is a lot of fun, but you should really take it serious, because the risks are high. You may want to check this cool tech article Glossary of Off-Road Terminology to make sure that you have good theoretical base before you start equipping your vehicle.
stelita
Where can I buy the gear? My tow rope broke down during the last recovery. Thanks
adil
Plenty of places to buy: Ace Hardware, Icon auto, Ramy Trading, Adventure HQ in Dubai and Alico, Tazweed and Golden sun in Sharjah. Most important is why your tow rope broke? If it's too old and sustained over 15-20 pulls then it's acceptable. If it's new and broke that means you have got under rated capacity tow rope. Always buy that rate above 5000 lb at least, higher the better as they wont ditch you when you need them the most. Secondly also buy the rated shackle of same weight capacity to carry out recovery process smoothly. Good luck and drive safe.
vanhack
I advise you to join a club that has some experience in training newbies, and they will guide you better. Many clubs out there, I would recommend the following: www.me4x4.me , Just offroaders, Emirates4x4 and I am sure some others will chime with their loyalty.
