fj1000
Hi Everyone, This is my first post in this forum. I bought a 2018 FJ Cruiser last week and am overall very happy with the car. I had some questions regarding the first 1000 kms of the car - should I be aware of anything? As of now, I am not speeding and just cruise between 80 - 110 kmph and not going over 2000 RPMs. Another issue that I've faced is that when pressing on the brake pedal, there is a slight jitter/shake that can be felt. I called the service center and they said that this could be as the car is still new and the parts are settling in. However, I wanted to check with the owners here if this is normal in the FJ or has anyone experienced this? Thank you.
desertdude
This is a symptom of a warped brake disc, shouldnt be happening in such a new car, anyways since ita new and under warranty put in a complain when yoi take it for the 1000kms service and see of they manage to sort it out. fj1000
Thanks desertdude. I’ve already booked the first 1000 kms service for next Thursday. Another 300 kms to go. I am just afraid that the warranty might not cover it as they usually say that brakes are not included which will be a bummer considering the car is brand new. desertdude
That would be the case if it wasn't an absolutely new car. There is no way you warped your discs in less than a 1000kms. But you never know the stealerships here, they can can come up with some out of this world BS to not do some work.
fj1000
I’ll try to see if I can reschedule the servicing sometime earlier. I really want to get this issue sorted. Will update back with what they say.
Romin
They have to replace it for you, don't take a no for an answer. One of the industry insiders told me to get something changed or repaired take the car in an outside garage, make them diagnose it, then take it back to the stealership and force them to take a look at the necessary part, even if they don't accept it, ask them to replace it, eventually they'll have to do it. And, I have a FJ cruiser I have the same problem, it appeared after I changed my tires. There's a initial shake as you press the brake pedal and then it goes away as you press harder.
