Morning Intermediate Desert Drive - Sweihan - Abu Dhabi - 22 Mar 2025

DRIVE PLAN

It's going to be a typical "Sweihan Drive", drive tall, drive fast, drive quick. The initial section will be in the Sweihan Area and from there we will move further east. We will come across a track, and we will go to Nagra Hill. Request every member that joins this drive to go through the information below and strictly follow these guidelines, etiquette, and responsibilities.

Request all members who will participate to install Garmin Tread app on your phone and set up with your credentials. I will share a group drive code at the start of the drive and will request all participants to join the group drive. This will help us to track all members in the convoy should there be any break in the convoy. Please ensure that you exit the group drive after you have finished the drive.

DRIVE DETAILS

• Level:  Intermediate and above
• When: 22 Mar 2025, Saturday
• Meeting time:  7:00 AM (we will leave at 7:15 am)
• Meeting Point: https://maps.app.goo.gl/xY6aK4cDazQQ8Ufh6
• Approximate finish time: 10:00AM
• Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 8-10 inches of ground clearance.
• What to bring along: Loads of water, snacks (for yourself), smiles, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn.

MANDATORY OFF-ROAD GEAR:

• Tire deflator & Tire pressure gauge
• Compressor
• Walkie-talkie radio
• Off-road flag
• Shovel, Tow Rope & 2 Shackles
• First-aid kit
• Fire extinguisher

LIMITED SPOTS AVAILABLE

• This drive is limited to 10 cars only. RSVP will close on Friday
• If the RSVP is full, you can add your name to the waitlist, once anyone drops, you will be moved to the RSVP list.
• RSVP will close a day prior to preparing a convoy list.
• Latecomers will be returned - Without any exceptions.
• Members without RSVP will be returned - Without any exceptions.
• Please withdraw your RSVP, if you aren't joining, so your spot can be taken by others.
• Repeated no-show members after RSVP will have their account suspended for a month.

@Looper I will have to pull out as somehow got severe back pain. I had hoped it will be better by the weekend, but it has it gone away. Better to take rest I guess.

First, I want to thank the entire convoy for waiting for me. I know that even a five-minute delay can be critical when starting the drive. @Looper drive was fantastic—amazing and i was more focused on the entire journey. I've seen similar ridge crossings and rides climbing on Reels, and honestly, I didn't expect I’d be able to do it. When I saw the track, I really regretted not having my 360 camera to capture the drive. Anyway, the drive itself was incredible. complete convoy drove well. @Brett Eicher I hope your beast (car) is getting fixed and back to its prime. 

For the first time, I actually opened my bonnet during a break to check everything is their inside. I saw @Rob S jumping over some of the ridges, and I chose to reroute myself to avoid going too high on the ridge with the bump. But overall, it was an extraordinary and amazing drive. after long time driving with @Mehmet Volga, see you all soon.

For me numbers speak more than anything and here they are.

 

It was the fastest ever both in average speed as well as moving average. We did most of what we see in the social media but did it safely. The one thing I wanted to do but did not was to climb Nagra Hill but slipped out of the climb due to poor visibility and sand in my eyes. I did not have the privilege to drive with windows up. No rush, there is always a next time. We had a couple of well-deserved breaks, and we just chatted and socialized - it was a well-paced drive. 

I was blessed to have an excellent convoy to be at the front. @ChrisW, @Brett Eicher, @Ishak, @Rob S, @Rajiv Sam & @Mehmet Volga thank you all for making this one a memorable one.
