Well it shouldn't be brown, start with flushing, not draining and refill, but complete flush and refill to see if it fixes the issue.4 points

Sorry to start a new topic, but I didn't see a sub-group for new members, maybe an idea if it doesn't exist? Looking forward to meet you, would have liked to join todays night drive, but I am a totally newbie, so won't pull you back this evening. Not always off in the weekends, so might take some time to join one of the newbie drives. No offroad experience. Xaf2 points

"Steering torque" is Mercedes-speak for excessive free play in the steering box. The adjustment you see is actually to remove steering slop, but if the gears are too worn, taking up the slack in the straight ahead position might cause the box to bind at or close to full lock. Anyway, try adjusting the box and see what happens- with some luck you might be able to remove the slop without causing binding at full lock.2 points

And pray you didn't burn your 1st and 2nd clutch. When I read your offtoading post I was going to say don't stick it on 1 and 2 and keep it there for long because you might end up overheating and burning the clutches. Most probably that's what caused your trans to overheat in the first place2 points

As you only did a top-up the last time, I suggest to first change the oil and filter and see if it improves.2 points

When I first bought my Jeep it was shifting bit rough. Than I found out that oil level was less. When we add 1lt oil it started shifting like a dream. Lately(probably after my last off road drive I got transmission over heat light) i feel like it is having issue to shift between 1 to 2. If I am speeding properly it is shifting OK but if I am driving very slowly or accelerating slowly it shifting roughly. What I mean it is shaking the car. It is like it can't decide to stay on 1 or shifting 2. I feel like it is going 2 than 1 than again 2. I am thinking maybe since the transmission got over heat oil got bad and I need to change oil. I guess the bad option is transmission got damage. what is your ideas? Other than the shifting 1-2 all other gears shifting very very smooth even 2-1 down shift is good.1 point

Bits and bobs are common among several platforms. Do a little research and you'll probably find that some mass produced shitty model also used the same steering box. Might even be in another brand name too if the box was made by a third party. Like I found out my Oh so expensive blower motor for my old range rover was made by Valeo and new one which fits into some Scania truck is also the sae amd new is for 55dhs!1 point

^^^^ That, when a really high mileage already riddled with gunk and on it way out tranny you put in new clean fresh oil it might lead to shift shock. If you don't attack this issue now, then its only going to get worse from here. And its a sheep! What were you expecting it wont burn a hole in your wallet! Lol So a fluid flush is the cheapest way right now to try the remedy the issue.1 point

When people say that flushing older stuff isn’t good, what they really mean is the transmission is already banjaxed and all the dirt and gunk is blocking leaks and hiding noises which would otherwise not be noticeable. A transmission doesn’t get used to an oil. It’s a specialised piece of equipment built to high tolerances. It needs a proper flow of clean oil to work properly. Better to flush it and fix it properly instead of hiding and ignoring problems.1 point

I concur, do a full flush, not just drain the sump and refill. If you don’t flush, you’re still left with dirty oil in the torque converter, valves etc. We have a flushing machine in the shop. Haven’t tested it yet, just saw it sitting in the corner.1 point

That's what I was going to say, If you go too much the steering gets stiff and you need to go back a little. I used to do it all the time in my older Land Rovers, Every few years needed to be turned a little bit. Om the last one I had it had gotten to the point it was fully tight and it couldnt go any further so after that it was going either going to be a rebuild or a new box. But before that time came I ended up selling it.1 point

Hi @MansourZ I saw your signup for today's drive, can you please share your offroad experience and which 4x4 you drive? If you are absolute newbie in desert and this will be your first drive, then I will request you to wait for absolute newbie drive as night drives are not meant for absolute newbie experience.1 point

Unfortunately not. The only adjustment on it is for steering torque. When the gears inside are gone, that’s it.1 point

Tyres I can't comment on but for batteries I only use Amaron in the 4 years I've been here and never had an issue with them.1 point
