Why a Mitsubishi Montero / Pajero is the best buy in class

PCV systems can be notoriously finicky, as @shadow79 correctly points out. The best thing to do here is to put a vacuum gauge on the dipstick pipe- it is likely that the engine vacuum is excessive, which must be checked against service information. If it is, the PCV system is sucking oil out of the engine, and the only way to fix that is to check the entire system for anything untoward. However, a good starting point would be to replace the PCV valve.

The location mentioned in the article is actually quite far from Al-Quaa, on Razeen Rd. Here is another spot referenced on Google maps and easily accessible by road : « AL Quaa Milky way Spot » Unnamed Road - Abu Dhabi https://goo.gl/maps/7X9jqFxJeJaL1kwT6 In this area especially, it’s not recommended to venture off-road if you’re not an intermediate level driver - and of course, never alone, at least 3 cars. The sabkhas, not only the dunes, might be a danger : they look perfectly harmless, because all flat, but you can get stuck after a few hundred meters with no obvious reason. It almost happened to me once in this area.

I know this off-road group, I've heard about them, only bad things unfortunately.

A lot of light pollution around. My last visit to Qua was good but light pollution is catching up wherever infrastructure closes in.Using the light pollution map is very important.

Here are my observations: He clearly didn't follow the path on extreme right and thought of taking shortcut. OR he followed the path but due to slow speed he slide down on soft patch. Ideally at that point, he should have come down slowly to make another attempt without fighting gravity. Due to slip face, its difficult for him to climb and still he fought the slip face with lack of momentum. Lack of experience, made him think he can climb up and steer sharp left on such short space. In end while reversing out of such situation, steering should be straight and come down slowly.

Both @Halit Mert Issever and @Xaf have the right idea, speed plus fighting gravity. What about when this guy reversed out. BTW @Gaurav bhai at the end it seems they have a radio and they did the right thing by asking him to stop and give a thought about the events. Behind steering wheel in that frame of mind he could have only made more mistakes.

The worst it that once you go shopping for parts/tools you end up buying things that you don't need or may already have! I love going to ACE and hate it when I end up buying the items nearest to the cashier. 😀

Yes. The Trooper is a mighty machine. There was an abandoned one parked near my office for a while and i really was interested to get it, but as you know it's almost impossible. Was in pretty rough shape too.

Shj does it do. Have a buddy who has his RHD 1940's Land Rover registered in Shj with Classic plates. In fact Shj has been doing Classics for a while now and surprisingly it's much better than Dubai which has very strict criteria and rules for Classic like you can only drive a certain number of kms a year. It doesn't care how old the car is it has to be made before a certain date. Your car could be X many years old but if it was made after that date it will never be considered a classic

Lately they are allowing rhd cars with classic plates but so far I have only seen Dubai classic rhd's...

There are 2 questions there for you to answer... (1) is there smoke 1st thing in the morning when you start the car ? (2) Is there smoke when in highway speeds ? you will need someone's help in both cases to take note of the exhaust....

Pvc valve makes a notorious smoke. They usually go bad in German cars in Japanese this rarely happen If using 10w40 is reducing oil then I would advise to use a thicker blend of 20w50 you might reduce less oil and also reduce the duration between oil changes... Honda's are strong engines but if not taken care like any engine problems start to begin...it could be leaking valve seals or worn down rings if there is no visible leaks in the engine bay...do you see smoke when you start the car in the morning..? Get someone to follow you at highway and ask them to notice the exhaust for any smoke coming out...

First of all congrats @jibransayed for the longest title yet for a thread. Regarding the suspensions you will feel the lag or bounce when you drive or when you are going over a speed bump. Best is to get OEM, have to check if they are firm. I got lucky with a suspension shop in Sharjah who had some lying around from a Japanese import. They were hardly used and once I changes I immediately felt the difference. If you're looking for long term off roading than some after market ones like king shocks or old man emu will do you good. They are stiffer and offer you better traction off road, however they will kill your back on the road.

Yeah the thing is that’s it’s not easy to combine. Telescopes and expensive cameras are things I don’t want to take in my car when going dune bashing.

There is a product available called Gunk, google it. You spray it on, it foams up, then you pressure wash it off. It gets rid of all the oil and stuff. I used to use it to prep engines before car shows all the time. If you want to save money, but a 5 gallon jar of TFR, spray it on and wash it off. It’s like soap but stronger.

Where do you go for a good view of the stars? That’s one thing I miss from home. In the city you’re lucky if you can see Venus and maybe 3-4 bright stars. At home I go out my back door and I can see the Milky Way clearly. On a good night you can get a glimpse of the northern light.

No fuel station engine oil quality matches the international brands like: Mobil 1, Castrol or Shell. Period.

Al quaa desert is one of the best desert in the UAE that connects from Al Wagan to Al Quaa. We recently had an amazing crossing from Al Wagan most tempting dunes to Al Quaa desert, where we have witnessed the massive bowls, something like Liwa tall dunes of 150-200 meter in size. In one of the massive bowl in Al Quaa I went inside to do a sidey and got down to the base filled with bushes and no run-up to gain momentum faced massive difficulty to get out. It was an unforgettable memory for me and others to get my car out with 30 meters of rope + 30 meters of the winch rope from last quarter of that massive bowl. Anyone wish to repeat this, must look out for the drive to al quaa desert shortly
