Hopefully all your plans for Friday are confirmed and you are preparing mentally for another day out in the dunes. A few housekeeping items to cover, just to make sure we have no problems when setting off. Tools and Equipment: We will be checking that you have all your Fewbie equipment before we leave. If you don't have it, you'll have driven to the 2nd December cafe for nothing. That means, a flag pole with a flag, a shovel, a compressor among other things. That also means tow points in good order - not just to stay in place on the car but also not cut the tow rope that someone might kindly offer to use to pull out your vehicle from the sand or off a crest. Get yourself right mentally: Fewbie PLUS, means faster pace, less announcements about the route, and an expectation from the other people in the drive that you can both drive yourself out of or away from problems. Refusals and stucks are part of the challenge, but you also need to be at the top of your game and be focused and ready for more challenging routes than before. Night driving: A small part of the drive should be taking place in the dark this week - assuming that we feel that the convoy knows how to handle that additional factor and we will not end up digging people out until midnight. Night driving conditions are different to the daylight in a number of ways. Most obvious, it's dark. This means you need to pay much more attention to where you are going and that the convoy is still together. Never lose sight of the person in front or behind. You do not need to have extra lights, but it helps. How long we drive at hight will be determined by how many stucks we experience. The less stucks, the more time practicing this new skill. To assit the Magnificent Seven, your Four Musketeers @Srikumar @Ale Vallecchi @Jeepie and myself will be there to help and guide whee needed. Very nice @J J. Well summarized. Safety first. Never try to show that you know more and can do better than the other. Sometimes a stuck is better than a toss like that. Some brainless people try to show that they and their machines are better. Always be patient, we are not in a race. Well done @topgear and @J J. You win this round. Just to add couple of extra things from my side. A bit too fast and soft suspension once the car hit the front wheels to dig in and the momentum just carried the free back over. Never let the back of your car over take the front. Learn to control your car, your emotions and more importantly your ego.

Hi Syed. My number is 0525713073. I can flash and program Jeep ECMs and diagnose and fix any other problems you might have. I agree with what other people are saying though. It seems like your mechanic broke the car so he should be repairing it for free. The car was working when it went into the garage so it should be working when it comes out. If he can’t repair it back to its original state, get DED involved. They are very good with this sort of thing and come down hard on monkey mechanics.

As part of continuous improvement and diversification, Carnity off-road club plans to add few mountain and wadi drives regularly to the off-road drives calendar. Depending on the interest, we might continue or alternate those drives with the help of senior off-roaders and marshals. As UAE mountain and wadi are very dynamic and seasonal, so we like to hear from the mountain explorers here who have recently visited such scenic places? Place should be safe enough to schedule a drive of 10-15 cars. You must have recently visited that place in the last 6 months time. Suggestions open to both levels - newbie (preferable) - fewbie (acceptable). It shouldn't be of an extreme rock crawling level (as of now). Feel free to suggest any place, that you must have heard from your friends/family recently so that we can plan a recce trip and scout the area before posting the drive. We really appreciate if you have tracks, route, coordinates to get in and out, would be really helpful in getting these started.

Totally Agree, Sharjah and Dubai consumer rights and DED are awesome and saved me 3 times with monkey mechanic and fake parts sellers.

Looks like the SKIM module (immobilizer) that is not being recognized by the new PCM. I think only Jeep dealer will be able to re-program the PCM.

Take it to @Barry. If you keep using the mechanics you used, you will change more and more parts and get no result.

Hello Gaurav Yesterday I decided to join Carnity after the wonderful trip last week as a passenger with my friend Chaitanya . Actually I am new to this world and I would like to explore it safely as a driver. I have a white Jeep Grand Cherokee 2015 model. Its stock with no modification .ground clearance match 8 to 10 inch. I have read and watched the instructions And can’t wait till event time on Friday 17th 5 to 9 am I will come prepared as per requirement and advice by Carnity team M.Seidam

I hear you completely @J J but not all drives are the same. I agree if wadi's are dry and flat, it gets monotonous and boring too quickly, but if it has ongoing challenges, inclined gradients, it adds to the thrill. I absolutely love mountains, just because of the heights, scenic beauty, view from different vantage point are totally amazing to drive or to chill out on top (after COVID finishes).

@syed salman raza ... just read pages of this BS. Your mechanic is playing you. Get to DED immedaitely. It's a 2005 TJ! None is going to steal it (I should know, mine is a 2004 TJ) and the immobilizer can be bypassed easily. Get your money back. Go to Barry. Get it sorted. We need to see you out in the sand.

Finally the 2021 Ford Bronco is here. Looks to be the ultimate off road machine. Hope Ford will launch it here in UAE without delay.

Again you are EXACTLY doing what your mechanic wants and you will get no results. He wants you to pay for stupid parts for his mistake - You are doing it He wants you to take your Jeep when he has made a mess - You are doing it. Call him and say, return my jeep in same working condition as I gave you or in 24 hours I will go to Dubai Consumer Rights and DED to make a legal complain.

Can imagine your position , have a "been there done that feeling" as I write this reply 😖. Just speak firmly with your mechanic , ask him to refund your money spent without any solution . If not let him get it fixed for you, keep all the conversation and log /job cards safe for back up to take him to task if needed. Do not oblige now with any verbal assurances! Sometimes good faith doesn't work with quackchanics!

@syed salman raza I'm really sad to see what you are going through with. But you are simply toooooo good for this world and that's why your Jeep is in black hole since 10 days. Going to @Barry is a bad idea atm. Let this mechanic sort out or you will pay dearly. Call Dubai Consumer Rights and explain your side and ask them to resolve this for you. Ask your mechanic to return the car in same shape as you have given him. You shouldn't have wasted 700 for PCM repair and then scrap cost as that is the EXACT Rabit hole your mechanic is pushing you into. Stop FIRMLY and get legal help.

Yup 100% true never buy the first 2 to 3 years of a new generation. In reality 5 years is a safer bet. Given enough chance to sort out all the quirks and nags. Unless it's a BMW or Nissan they don't give a shit and keep manufacturing faulty cars! lol

Actually, 2009 was my favourite season when Button won the championship with Brawn that was utterly dominant with its double diffuser but ran out of money to develop the car and Button still score reasonable points to seal the championship with 1 race to spare. The 2nd favourite season for me was the 2007 due to the spygate, Alonso-Hamilton public spat and how Kimi came from behind to win the championship in the last race.

The 2.3 ecoboost is a well proven power plant at this stage. The earlier ones at the start had their problems but the latest generation seem to have all the problems ironed out. I had a drive in a new 4 cylinder mustang last week. To be honest, I went into it with a bad attitude and fully expected it to be thoroughly shite but I was impressed. Forget the fact it’s a V8 muscle car because it isn’t and see it for what it is, a good looking coupe with reasonable economy and it all starts to make sense. While it’s not a fire breathing 500 horsepower monster, it has more than enough power for every day use and enough to put a smile on your face. It might be a 4 cylinder but a Nissan sunny it isn’t.

Of course because not everyone has a shiny resume like yours to race alongside Alonso and Vettel.

Tow your vehicle to another sensible mechanic and get your job done... will save you dirhams and time both.

When replacing the PCM, the key and immobilizer will need to be reprogrammed, because it is not recognizing the new PCM.

Is anyone watching F1, whether religiously or as and when you feel like it? I have been following F1 religiously for more than 10 years. This year, given the pandemic is slightly different (weird). F1 is racing without any fans at the circuit. They have just resumed racing 2 weeks ago and I am not complaining. In case you are interested, F1 will be racing in Hungary this week (18&19 July).

Fuck ! That thing is ugly as sin. US spec means flood damaged or in a crash bad enough that it was written off. Plus 195k miles that's 300k plus kms. Also be weary if rust on these US imports. My buddy once bought a TJ US spec right when the container opened after arriving here. It has been in a slight tip over which cracked the hardtop and a front fender slight bent. But was it a pain in the ass. First of all almost impossible to find a hardtop anywhere. And we found a slightly less damaged repairable one for 4000 plus Then while slowly driving around 30k the rear axel just popped out for no good reason. Then almost impossible to register because frame had rust and the VIN number had rusted away So all in all a massive shit experience but then again nothing else can be said about jeep ownership.

This Ford Bronco (Short Wheel Base) looks very nice alternate to huge Raptor (LWB) for speedy small dune drives w/o the fear of getting crested. +1 if Al Tayer plan to launch this Ford Bronco here in the UAE market.
