We have seen members struggling and realizing after quite a few refusals that they are still on 18-20psi. This happens mostly because of faulty pressure gauges. Even the so called reliable 4x4 garages who offer this service make a hash of it. @Desert Dweller had the kill switched installed on her X and it disabled the 4x4 .... which made for very interesting desert driving. The X went back 3 times before they finally resolved it. So my advice is once it is installed. check it, check it again, and check it again before leaving the shop.

It’s a pretty easy thing to do. When you pull the fuse, you are left with 2 empty terminals. Put a wire in each one, then connect the other ends of the wires to an on-off switch. I recommend fitting an inline fuse holder with a fuse the same size as the original. I would love to help you with it but I don’t get involved with safety related modifications due to liability issues.

The grilles in the floor have a constant vacuum so any particles/fumes are pulled down, filtered and vented to atmosphere, and there is a constant supply of fresh air coming from the top. The air is constantly being renewed from top to bottom so you can't even smell the paint. But to answer your question, this is Dubai. This is all I can say. 🙃

Few things to clarify for everyone: Original company bash plates are usually 2 mm thin, so upgrade to 6-8 mm is plenty. Fabrication houses love to bump to 10+ mm to increase price. It's simply an overkill, overpriced and heavy on nose. Installing metal frame behind is another new way of extracting more money, yes it increase the rigidity but if you are playing car crushing games. Even for rocks here in UAE it's of no use if you know how to drive. For sand they will make your car nose heavy and restrict your hill climb, marginally. Unless you intend to drive at extreme level, simple and lighter bash plate is more than enough. Make sure design you pick, have holes for ventilation but not so many that it weaken the strength or holes close to the border of the bash plate. Few equvi-distance hole in center is perfect.

@Mohamed Seidam Here is a DIY Diagram for the ABS Kill Switch. You can get the Switch, Fuse & wire in Sharjah & DM. Get couple of extra Fuses & Switches as u might need it later. Due to the sand & heat switch might get stuck or break.

1) Are you using Tiptronic ? 2) Momentum is your friend, start early enough on each climb. 3) Check your tyre pressures. Reduce a bit more if needed before the climb. 4) Slighly steer left-right at the end of the climb (last few meters) and try to find the cleanest path. As you are still Newbie, you will learn all these tricks the coming drives/weeks and might be very surprised with the Pajero

I don't have any climbing issues with my Pajero. I just have to make sure that you have enough momentum before you begin a climb and then the Pajero takes you everywhere.

Dear Desertnauts. As usual, time for the convoy numbering, and the last minute info about the drive. The convoy will travel with @Foxtrot Oscar in Second Lead, followed by @J J at #3, @Lorenzo Candelpergher in the #4 spot, and @Junaid Sayeed in the Sweep position. As far as recovery duties are concerned, as usual in my Intermediate drives, I'd like all drivers to be involved, so each will take care of the car either in front or behind, depending on the best position to recover from. Junaid, or myself as second option, will always assist the attempted recoveries. Regarding the drive itself, as we are planning a long excursion, I would like to complete each sector in approximately 1 hour (barring any difficult situation we may encounter). The sectors we look to complete at the end of each hour are 1) Faqa (Northern Side) to Little Sweihan, 2) from here to the edge of Solar Park, then on to 3) complete the Bab al Shams area, and finally 4) the Qudra segment, from Bab al Shams (western side) to Qudra proper and the parking area. I am hoping to depart as soon as there is sufficient light (officially at 5:43), so please be as punctual as possible at the meeting point, proceeding with deflating as soon as you reach it. We will tune into Carnity Channel 2 (446.031). Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow, have a great end of the week.

Good day On my last drive i realized how ABS kicks soon , and I decided to kill it . However it was not killed as This will kill the 4WD along or that what I understood . I appreciated from the garage telling the truth rather than creating another problem. @Christian Andras just go with RSA direct online. Bigger tires are not a mod and insurance depends on police report. In the very few cases we have, we always helped to get the vehicle closer to the road. No issues with RSA in over 5 years.

Pajero has no climbing issues. @Mels Wolf and @Shiju Manuel are taking their stock 3.5 Pajeros everywhere. Same for @Vanessa8580 with 3.8 model.

There’s no issues naming and recommending anyone on here, it helps everyone. You just have to be careful if you say anything bad about someone because of the defamation laws.

@Mohamed Seidam Check your fuse box first to make sure which fuse is for traction and ABS. Pull that fuse and then check the errors on your dash, besides the traction and ABS errors there should be nothing else. Even when I installed it, the first time it was done it showed an error with 4 low so made them check again and figured there were 2 separate fuses that deactivated the traction and ABS, in addition, 1 also deactivated the 4 low. Before leaving the workshop, turn on of off everything that you do before the drive just to make sure no errors pop up.

I don't think we are allowed to recommend businesses here. However, I got it done at this address 4 34th St - Umm Ramool - Dubai. I went back to the same place to get it fixed. I had done it before to another car I had in the same place and it worked fine from the first time. This time I had to go again as it wasn't as nicely done as the previous time.

The garage that installed it fixed it. At first they thought it was a faulty switch but then they just redid the job again. Didn't have any issues with the first switch they installed . I'm not sure we are allowed to mention the name of the garage on here

I use RSA too, for the same reason you mention, and they have a good off-road coverage. It states in the attached booklet: 6. Off Road Assistance: We will recover the Insured Vehicle from off road areas including sandy areas, desert and/or basement parking’s within the UAE. However, recovery in the desert applies to Insured Vehicles that have four wheel drive capability only, excluding competitive events or carrying passengers as part of business. This service is limited to three times in a year. Off road cover: The coverage under the Policy is extended to include loss or damage to Your Insured Vehicle and/or Third Party Liability, whilst being driven off road. Provided that: (a) Your Vehicle has four wheel drive capability (b) It is a private vehicle only In the event of a claim the Police Report should be provided. What we don't cover: If You are participating in any kind of dune-bashing, competitive event or race. Hi Gaurav, Will be driving Nissan Patrol 2020, front and back hook in new condition. Have done 1 day Desert Driving course with EDI, and last week spent 1 hour driving in Al Qudra on our own. Looking forward to ride with you guys tomorrow.

Hi @Christian Andras in addition to what @Gaurav suggested and agree with him . Also beware that offroad cover is noted in the policy when it’s comprehensive and when the 4X4 vehicle is GCC registered up to my knowledge. personally I deal with RSA for all my past and current machines and I am happy with them.
