As the end of this challenging year is coming to an end, why don't we all share our favorite Carnity photo with a small description when and where it was taken and why we chose it. Mine was taken in Al Qudra on 21st of February (pre-lockdown) where Carnity really started to take off with convoys of 30+ members (split-up) and we could see a glimpse of the success recipe coming at us. Please mention your name if i forgot you Back then, no one would have thought that 10 months later we would be doing 10 drives every weekend and become the fastest growing Offroad Club of the UAE. Where other clubs saw their membership numbers declining due to Covid and the poor economy, we witnessed record numbers every week which i think is a testament to the motivation and willingness of our loyal members to keep joining us every week to explore the deserts in our backyard and beyond, and to the supporting members in our team to grow with us ! It's been a great adventure, learning a lot, and having fun in the sand with the club members....

Around 300 to 400 kms a day. Stay in Ajman and office in Dubai plus sites running in Business Bay, JLT & Jabel Ali

I have a recovery device for that (that I have not use yet). It's called the "deadman", and it is basically a big tarp to be buried at least 1 meter deep and use as an actor point. I haven't used it yet, but I have seen videos where it seems to work pretty well. And the advantage is that you don't have to deal with the weight of the spare tire and also it folds to very little space in your car.

Good morning Team, What is your opinion about using a winch and a ground anchor in the sand to manage a solo rescue without relying on another car? beside the manual labor, any other drawbacks/risks?

Am very new to this community (my absolute newbie ride was in Nov 2020 ). Therefore that has to be my fav moment and pic for this year! @Ale Vallecchi using his baby FJ toy car for the briefing ... I felt this club/community was made for me ... fate! (a black FJ owner on his very first ride led by an expert FJ driver using a toy black FJ to teach us the basics) and the group also included @Gaurav ... talk about newbies being spoilt! Looking forward to what 2021 will bring ... I cannot wait for the opportunity to enjoy an after drive Karak/banquet! Congrats on the incredible growth and keeping the community run like a family!

25/09/2020 my first fewbie , first time I drove with @Ale Vallecchi ( zoom : middle of picture ) , my first time to ride the ridge and crisscross . and in this picture it was when we met with @Wrangeld in the relay drive somewhere in the middle ( lahbab to margham and Visa versa ) Great unforgettable memories with fine desert wanderers 🌷🙏🏻🚙

After every drive; either on Friday or on Saturday I take my car to the nearest petrol station to have it washed. I choose the normal cost wash but I ask them to wash the underbody and the inside of the engine bay as well - it is a weekly affair for me. After every 3-4 washes I ask them to do the extreme wash - where they use hot water to wash and they spend a lot more time underbody as well. Am I overdoing it? To think of it petrol station is a more expensive place compared to some dedicated carwash. Any suggestions near around Al Quoz area? Those are some extreme milages. I am curious how much you drive everyday.

For solo offroading the winch with an anchor (this is a big and heavy item btw) might only work in firm sand. If you are really stuck, or crested, the anchor will not bring any solution. Secondary, solo offroading risks is not just about getting stuck, but your car can break down, you can start to feel unwell, or many other possible scenarios are possible so rethink if you really want to go out alone. Burying your spare wheel in soft sand will take a very long time, and the climate in UAE is unforgiving.

Very good observation @Mohamed Seidam in sand finding a solid ground or anchor like tree is tough. Digging huge hole to burry spare tire or sand anchor is what I have heard too, but never tried or seen anyone trying in my 14 years of off-roading in UAE. Learning a self recovery to extreme can help in such solo drives (although not advisable to go alone). Below are the videos from our Recovery Champion course, where we teach lot of self recovery scenarios. One of the most difficult crest stuck where all 4 wheels are free, so no diff lock, no low gear will ever work. Hi Aus i am not expert honestly in those. But what I think that ground anchor needs a solid ground and we are doing sands mainly . I have seen ideas in you tube of digging a hole in the sand and letting the spare tire in and Berry it as anchor to the connected strap to the winch . I think@Gaurav and @Frederic can give specific opinion for the indications about it . cheers

Thank you @Chaitanya D for leading this drive was one of the best I had in Fewbie. I am extremely pleased that my 2005 Pajero stood by me. The total technical drive had some awesome scene including the 5 hot air ballooons. Despite the aggressive wave cresting and sidings.. there wasn't any driver seriously stucks.. just few small refusals and only one tug. I would invite all who have not done this area must at least do it once.

I am speechless on what I just read. I was imagining in my mind just people sitting around a campfire and @Ale Vallecchi just telling stories. I miss the times where we could all gather in giant group and bbq or make a giant bonfire and talk or listen to music. Inshallah all this goes well and I hope to hear @Ale Vallecchi tell his stories while we eat delicious different types of food. Great story telling!!

The XTERRA has run 90000 kms with me after I purchased it in Feb. Its like choosing which car to drive everyday as I like both of them very much and pains to see I always choose the XTERRA over Altima as having a construction company, I need to carry lot of materials around which the Altima cannot take. Hopefully my son or daughter will take a license soon and take charge of that car.

@Thomas Varghese I did have similar issue with my Xterra, a slight delay in acceleration. Arabian auto mechs couldn’t find anything abnormal. But later I have sorted it by replacing the plugs and cleaning the air flow sensor.

800,000 kms. I bought it brand new in 2011 and was using it everyday traversing my different sites but now since Feb after I bought the XTERRA is idling at home.
