Thanks @Foxtrot Oscar for the nice and relaxed drive this afternoon.. everything was smooth with minor refusals here and there all managed with self recovery until the first pop out on @Hisham Masaad‘s FJ giving a chance to try his new toy; the battery powered hydraulic Jack which proved effective and easy to use.. pop out sorted out quickly to immediately face another one on @Foxtrot Oscar’s X which was also dealt with quite fast with the amazing team work of this wonderful convoy. As we were moving towards the exit, @Melenany’s F150 lost power on a ridge leading to a minor parallel stuck; as light was fading quickly we went directly to a quick tug to then make our way out to inflation point. I then was faced with a last recovery to my own black beast but luckily just as I parked in my garage and shifting the gear to park to find out the stick is completely lose and gear is not shifting! I had to give the beast a big kiss that this didn’t happen on the sand and she waited until I am physically inside my garage 😘😘😘. after a quick diagnostic found out that the pushing connecting the shift stick cable to the gear arm is almost completely vanished; I managed to connect them with a couple of cable ties which will enable me to drive the car to the garage in the morning to replace the pushing saving the need for a tow truck 😅 thanks again for these nice weekday drives @Foxtrot Oscar , thanks @GauravSonifor anchoring the convoy and supporting the recoveries. Thx @Ashok chaturvedi for a flawless 2nd lead .. my dear friend @David Ortells who is always a fun to drive with, @Hisham Masaad for the amazing skill and mastering of the different terrain. @Watteau first time to drive with you.. loved seeing the Rapter flying over the sand flawlessly @Rob Harper you drive your Tundra like a boss.. amazing control.. @Arda Yagcioglu and @AlexPol almost didn’t hear your voice for the whole drive which shows how well you drove without any issue.. hope you enjoyed it.. @Melenany hopefully your car is checked soon to avoid this issue with loss of power and we meet soon on the sand my friend.. thanks again everyone and hope to c u all on the sand soon.

Drive Report. What a wonderful way to break up the working week. I promised a gentle therapeutic meander through the white sands of Lisaili and that is what we got. However, I am not claiming the credit for that. It was entirely down to the great convoy, who had minimal refusals and not a lot of drama. We gathered next to the camel track and prepared ourselves and our cars under the inquisitive eye of many a camel and their carers. When everyone was ready, we headed off down the pylon track for a few km and then cut into the technical patch that you must navigate to reach the long range dunes of Lisaili. Every member of the convoy tackled those dunes with zero issues which surprised me given the amount of big trucks we had on the drive. From there it was just a feast of side sloping, crossing dunes and some nice low curved ridges. The cool breeze and the setting sun matched the mood of the convoy, everyone was just so chill. 😎 As we neared Solar Park the dunes got higher and the challenge increased but not so much that your heart rate would increase too. This, after all, was a rehabilitating midweek drive. The few issues we did have on the drive were easily resolved, both @Hisham Masaad and myself had popouts and there were a couple of refusals and one stuck. These things happen when driving in the sand , especially to cars at the back of the convoy who have to deal with churned up soft sands. The key thing is that we learn from them and don’t get disheartened. I was very impressed with @Watteau in his raptor who didn’t have a single issue the entire drive. It was lovely to meet you and your good lady. @Arda Yagcioglu also had a very good drive , it was nice to be out there with you again. It had been a while. @AlexPol you had a fine drive too, and its great to have someone keen to learn the ropes (literally when it comes to recoveries) @Rob Harper I promise one day you’ll join a drive and I’ll give you the speed you crave , when you reach IM level haha , great drive and another who did well in a big truck in small tight dunes. @Melenany also coped well with the tight dunes, I understand the issues you faced and hope you get it resolved. It was nice to be out there with you again. @Hisham Masaad you had another flawless drive. Thank you for helping out with my pop out. @David Ortells another great drive with you and I hope that was the send off you needed for your time away. Many thanks to my support team @Ashok chaturvedi for being my 2nd lead at @GauravSoni helping at CF and @Islam Soliman for sweeping at the back. It really does make a difference when you have a good team supporting you. Leading can be stressful and knowing you can rely on members of the convoy to help out is incredibly valuable. Once again, thank you to the entire convoy for making this short evening drive so enjoyable, Until our next adventure 😊

@Thomas Varghese I do not know what to say, I felt sad when I read the reason for your quitting the club and now I feel happy that you backed out of your decision, but the most thing that makes me feel proud of this family, is this support that I saw in the comments, and indeed what the guys said is 100% true. The main goal is to enjoy at Which level you are. Welcome back again, and I look forward to joining the driving journey together. In any case, you are not too late to have new friendships. They may be older than most of us, but you have a young heart beating like all of us. See you soon in the sands

What a fantastic afternoon, I want to do that every Tuesday, great route, great convoy, nearly 50km in less than 3 hours, great effort, thanks @Foxtrot Oscar @GauravSoni and @Islam Soliman for keeping us safe and in one piece. One of our favourite drives so far. No album yet, but that sunset and the abandoned car are sure to feature.

Congratulations my brother , I can remember like if it was yesterday my absolute Newbie drive with you , I was thinking to myself, why someone will want to drive that presidencial looking car into the desert , you are the living example of Carnity spirit ( we drive any 4x4 with more than 8.........) . You are always among the first guys to lend a friendly and calm hand to any one on the convoy , and I can wait for the day that you will start leading drives , so i can sign up to drive with you , where a good time and vibes will always be a guaranteed. Well deserved!!!!

Dear Desertnauts. While Tolkien's Middle-earth stories mostly focus on the north-west of the imaginary continent of Arda, this episode of Carnity's saga will concentrate on the south-east of the very real Qudra/Faqa basin. Meeting in sight of the futuristic Solar Park glass pyramid, we'll follow the bike path to take us across a small area of technical dunes, before starting our raid on an endless field of long range dunes, where the initial busy vegetation will slowly leave room to clean, smooth, sand cordons. This is our Middle Earth, seldom visited, hence less scarred by tracks. After cutting through a couple of sabkhas, we'll reach the sand canyons and bowls of Little Sweihan, and from here, depending on the remaining time, we may wander beyond, into the lower cordons pointing their sandy fingers toward Faqa. At some point, regrettably, we'll have to turn back toward the exit track, which will bring us back to reality, just in front of Solar Park. @N@ved, @Javier Lucero, @varunmehndiratta, @Rob Harper, @Niki Patel, @Jeandre Bezuidenhout, @Islam Soliman, @MUHAMMAD Kashif RAZZAQ, @Yusuf Esaf, @Nacho and @Mehmet Volga, get ready to discover this fabulous area. Today is 9th of March and tomorrow is my wife's birthday which I forgot completely as I was always thinking about carnity drives. Thank God I remembered in the nick of time or it would have been better for all of you to take me & leave me in the middle of the desert. I was so engrossed in drives I forgot her birthday is approaching. This is what elders says saved in the nick of time.

@Thomas Varghese i really do not understand why people are pushing so hard for "promotions". This is all a hobby for us and we want to have some relief from stress, this is not a cut-throat business where you need to get your quota. We have a large number of members in the club who happily stay in their current level because it fulfills their needs and car capabilities. Rest assured if your promotion was held back, this was done for a clear reason as the safety of yourself and all our members is our highest priority. Furthermore, as you can see in the grading level, becoming eligible for a promotion is not purely based on the drive count. We work hard behind the screen to assess every request and every promotion is being discussed amongst the seniors of the club. If you are driving in another club merely due to your dissapointment of not getting promoted i think you need to re-calibrate your expectations and keep in mind this is a hobby, not a Formula One race.

Hi All, My name is Jeetu and I joined the club only last month. I am originally from India but have grown up in this lovely country UAE. I have seen its evolution over the past 30+ years from a point where Dubai World Trade Center was the tallest building (in Dubai) to becoming this marvelous country with amazing man made wonders. The desert was always a place that intrigued me but never got around to venture it. By joining Carnity I feel I have joined a fabulous community of people and I am going to enjoy and learn at the same time. Have done my Absolute newbie drive with @Srikumarand have to confess that it was one of the most enjoyable experiences I have had. On a professional level I am a Marketer but on personal level still I am exploring the drives of life. Apart from the desert bug (alleged), I am also a drone enthusiast and look for opportunities to get that birds eye view of things.

Hi My name is Ehab, I have a 2020 Jeep Wrangler with 2" lift kit, off-road tires and lights. I have prior off-road experience ( 3 drives with another club). My car has front and rear tow hooks and I have all the necessary equipment's. See you in the sand :)

@Thomas Varghese, please reconsider your decision.. we joined this club almost together and had so much fun driving and learned this art to which we were strangers all this while. I totally agree with @Frederic and @N@ved, promotion is not as important as having fun and to keep improvising our skills. moreover I feel getting a promotion while you are not ready is very dangerous for yourself and co-drivers, which I think shouldn't be compromised not at least in @Carnity (one reason why I love this club). Hope to drive with you again and again! do get well soon ✌️

@Rawad Bahsas here are some photos of my car.he also made me a cover to protect the radar during offroad drives. Just keep in mind that the inner fender covers or linning has to be cut as it usually comes all the way down in the city bumper.

a nice drive with just the right people.. this is sometime what we need to get away from the mundane activities of the working weekday! Who said only weekends are fun. It is always a pleasure to have these short weekday drives to get the nerves calm.....superb driving by everyone! Personal opinion here, had the same dilemma with the Gladiator and decided to go with the Overlander (Sahara) for the following reasons: - I wanted the creature comforts of the leather seats, bigger display, etc - Didn't really care much about the Diff Loc, its nice to have in tricky situations but for the most part you can live without it. - Used the money saved from the Rubicon to gut the Overlander, 35" (don't really have to reggaer), adjustable shocks, trackbar, superchip, front bumper, winch, apex valves, etc and came out to about the same price as a stock Rubicon but with a lot more ommf... Happy with the decisions.

Also @Lakshmi Narasimhan, I see that you have RSVPed for this drive and also for another one this weekend. Please choose any 1 drive for now and you can put your name on the waitlist for a second drive. This would give other drivers a chance to rsvp for atleast 1 drive over the weekend. On Wednesday, if there are still spots available after everyone has got at least 1 drive, you can be added to the convoy for a second drive.

@Rawad Bahsas just dropped my car for service at Nissan, no warranty issues😃 i also asked them about putting additional under body protection panels, they told me yeah if you are going offroad it is better, just make sure you put a thick one, as somebody used a thin plate that got deformed and gave them a hard time putting it back...

My apologies. “Absolute Newbie” mistake

Unfortunately I have been call out for duty from Thursday so I won’t be able to be join any drives this coming weekend .

The altima is taking rest as now a days I use the Xterra. There is nothing great in achieving those odo readings. Japanese cars are reliable than all others if you do the maintenance properly. In all these kilometers I changed the suspension only once along with the front struts at 400000 km. The rear shock is the original. Don't think I used the car very carefully. Altima's preferred pastime was jumping over curbstones. My ex colleagues used to say Thomas thinks his car is a 4 x 4 and the poor car will not even touch 100000 km to fall apart. I still keep it because I love the car and its the 1st car I bought when I came here. Its still in pristine condition except for some holes in the seat cover due to cigarette ash flying around.

Thanks to everybody who supported me in my difficult times. Never knew I will be making friends at this age. Once upon a time when I was a teenager I had lot of friends. When the daily routine changed to working, running business, looking after family the friendship circle started to becoming smaller and smaller and finally it reached zero. I'm so happy that I have friends who I can call as friends. I could see the people who come for off roading come there as they take it as a hobby and want to spend some time away from the bustling world and want to be themselves. See you all soon in the sands. Sad note - I got a fine of 700 AED on 26th Feb at 1.07 pm at Al Dhaid. For sure I must have been speeding to reach the drive.😔
