Thanks a lot @Rahimdad for the amazing drive, thanks @Islam Soliman and @Ahmed Wagdy for the support. I forgot to remove my flag after the drive and found it still hanging on tight on my roof when I reached home 😂 so for anyone who doubts the dragon mart suction flags, it can withstand speeds of upto 140kms/hr as well 😂, just make sure to clean both surfaces with sanitizer before applying the flag.

Post Drive Report After collecting our strays from cancelled drives and starting off at the wrong point, we got under way and briefed while moving in the hope of getting to cover as much ground as possible. Things were going well until @Lawrence_Chehimi had a popout that took longer to resolve than might have been ideal. On the other hand, it was a chance to show how to deal with even a challenging situation where jacking the car did not work as planned. And that was the feature of today. A few very understandable refusals and a small number of quite time consuming recoveries which meant we did not get to play as much as I wanted but we did have an excellent drive through fantastic scenery and in the end covered more than 65km in some of the softest sand we have faced for some time. Here's some specific feedback that you may find useful. @Sreejith Sreenivasan Thanks for acting as 2nd lead. I was a little shocked that the SWB 3.8 does not have a diff lock which does make it a little more challenging to recover. You need to be a little more patient in self recovery and use a little less gas when you blip blip and than make sure to take advantage of the momentum once it starts. @Baskaran P.R bigger Pajero, bigger problems? Not really. You are in control of the car, no question - until you're not. In the self recoveries you should take a little more time before you start to act, think, and relax. The problems get more difficult to solve if you force the problem. @Antony Calvin I like the way that you drive the Prado. Good control of the power and no problems in trying again if you refuse on challenge. I think that sometimes you are still, however, a bit tenative with the power, when you don't need to be. @Nizam Deen I think that you enjoy the responsibility of helping out your fellow drivers - a great indicator of the greater levels of experience that you have. You have the basics nailed. Now you need to spend more time looking at the recovery situation to see if a different approach can help, as it's not always going to be possible to use the obvious solutions. @Arun Mathew great and faultless drive. You're ready for bigger challenges in drives. @William Fernandes This was a good drive for you, because you needed to self recover quite a lot. That might seem contrary to waht you want to hear, but the more self recovery you do at this level, the more it will help as you progress. Better to make mistakes here, than on more extreme drives. @imranaasghar81 it's such a pleasure to have you on a drive. Your enthusiasm, contribution and skill are there for all to see.As is the progress you're making each drive. As I was not behind you I cannot say if improvements are needed. It looks to me like you have the Fj under control. @Lawrence_Chehimi It's a big beast to handle your Y62 so don't be surprised when it bites back from time to tme. You know why the pop out occurred, you can prevent that happening again by not fighting gravity. The thing is that the weight of the car makes any mistakes you make like this more pronounced. @Hasan Wahlan fantastic you made it to our drive and a pleasure to have you with us. Not sure if it was the soft sand, but it did seem on some occasins that the power delivery in the car is lower than expected which means you need to try to make you way through obstacles with a re try. Nothing wrong with that, in fact I encourage people to retry rather than force. I would just like to know if this is the car or you sometimes don't take the right lines. @Hennie Schoeman great sweeping. In control throughout and really goog guidance given to the drivers when in trouble. Thank you. See you soon in the sand.

Stunning morning drive led by @Rahimdad with quite good achievements .. all NB up Fossil Rock without a single refusal and then crawl down on the rocky side of FR towards Faya through the mighty bowls up to the highest point of Faya.. not a NB itinerary that you see everyday .. thanks a lot @Rahimdad and thanks @Jasim Khumi and @Ahmed Wagdy for the wonderful support. very well done to the whole convoy for this fun and fulfilling drive.. great driving with you all and can’t wait for the next one.. enjoy the weekend and c u soon on the sand 🎢

Well that was all kinds of fabulous!! Thank you @Emmanuel for the outstanding drive in the incredible dunes of Sweihan. We gave a collective laugh when you pointed to the dunes and said you'd try to start gently, try being the operative word. We tackled those first dunes at some pace and the sheer skills required to navigate them resulted in radio silence. No jolly bants on this drive. Everyone was so focused, and lets be honest, you had to be. It set the tone for the whole afternoon. It wasn't just the pace, or the size of the dunes, it was the angle, the approach, the maneuvering, the crazy sand that seemed to have a crisp shell and then like quicksand underneath and the lead with his je ne sais quoi demonstrating the kind of driving we all aspire to. Chapeau! @Emmanuel it is always an absolute pleasure and honour to be your second lead, It had been quite some time since I had been anyone's 2nd lead and I committed a basic error for the first 20 mins or so of watching the tracks instead of the dunes. I shook that off and got into my comfort zone. Thanks @Ilya Golubinsky @Francois Germishuys and @Kalahari for being great convoy buddies. The less said about @Craig Finlayson the better. Ach the Ginga Ninja did alright I suppose 😝

@Foxtrot Oscar thank you for your lovely message and for the amazing 2nd lead. It was very reassuring for me to know that you had my back. Perfect distance for an extreme drive. Very smart and prompt decisions. Excellent communication. Everyone could feel that you are a very experienced drive leader. And yes it was so nice to drive with you after a looong time. I missed that! After Asif’s drive cancellation, I had the pleasure to see my dear friend @Kalahari back into our drive, in what was maybe the more difficult convoy position in those soft sands, in sweep right after @Francois Germishuys F150. We were blessed to have very strong and sensible drivers who always copped perfectly with the pace (32 km/h average speed for all the drive, with max speed at 82 km/h) . Thank you @Craig Finlayson, @Ilya Golubinsky, @Francois Germishuys! It was very fun!

This is my 4th newbie drive and I have got to see 4 different parts of the UAE deserts and experienced many different types of desert driving. The views from Fossil Rock were amazing. @Humayun Ghias @Rawad Bahsas out of my personal experience I would kill all before as we deflate (traction control, ABS, airbags,..). It cave be done through a kill switch or easier by unplugging the relevant fuses. Consultation with the expert car technician is a must for the safest and convenient way based on own car. Traction control and ABS plays with the maneuverability and control of the car while offroading.. I prefer to have full manual control without any tech sophisticated assistance. Airbags is of course a very important safety feature, however sometimes the sensors are fouled by the car behavior on the sand and deploy as the car “mistakenly” thinks it’s rolling or involved in an accident. It’s all part of knowing own car better and decide what is best setup for going on the sand

Amazing drive and perfectly executed as per your plan Luca ! @Miamimoe your positive can-do attitude goes a long way, looking forward to see you growing with us ! @Nihal17 and @Serafino with the Wranglers took the terrain with ease and drove great today ! @Federico De Chirico and @sheri with the Pajeros did great today. So as @Federico Galbieri who’s Grand Cherokee was letting him down a little bit but nevertheless drove perfect today. @soumyasaklani the Prado is an amazing off-road Machine and you drove it very well ! @Shehab Alawadhi you really rose to the occasion today and was a perfect center forward: always ready to help and with encouraging words for the team. Well done 👍!! @amir amiri it was a blessing to drive behind that beautiful green Ram which you took effortlessly through today’s terrain ! @sheri please be aware we do not allow swapping drivers during the drive. This practice can lead to serious accidents and cannot be tolerated. Please have a look at below post: see you guys soon back in the sands !

Thank you Everybody for the magnificent drive! Today's challenge was reaching Faya from BigRed! Everyone was great during the drive in approaching the multiple challenges we encountered on our way :). Reaching the top of Big Red was important to me because just after the sunrise the panorama is wonderful! We did everything that was planned from going on top of Big Red to climb on the big dunes in our path, till the top of Faya! Special mention to @Miamimoe our Second Lead, was a very nice meeting. You hope you enjoyed the drive with your incredible car (still not convinced about front side flags ). @Shehab Alawadhi Alawadhi you were perfect in your role! Hope to see you soon again @Frederic I was very happy having you with us and looking at you with a smiley face hope you enjoyed! @Federico De Chirico I was impressed with your driving style is the first time that I saw a Pajero LWB climbing on top of Faya very good! @Federico Galbieri I Hope that you can find a way to fix your power loss issue on your car and see you expressing your potential See you all of you on the sand soon!!!!

Thanks @Wrangeld for the amazing drive, every week we learn something new, today i experienced a very early pop out just few minutes after the start, looking back at my dashcam video, it seems I made a very sharp left turn just before the crest. Not a good thing to do with a heavy vehicle having street tires inflated at 12-13psi!! Sometimes i get to learn the hard way😂.. Still need to go get the tire cleaned from inside although I didn't experiences any vibrations in the steering wheel on the highway... @imranaasghar81, thank you for your frequent alerts whenever you face steep bump ahead. @Nizam Deen and Richard thanks again for your efforts fixing that pop out.

Thank you @Islam SolimanI need to figure out how to disengage ABS and airbags, I will look into the kill switch option you are suggesting.

I just had to push the traction control button every time we were back to 4-high

@Rawad Bahsas for me I felt the traction control would disengage after moving back to 4-high. I've felt that ABS kicks in sometimes, have you experienced that?

Sreejith, Thanks for posting this. It's really great to see and I love the crested recovery going on in the background. We've had some learning on this over the months, and as we had no-one on the convoy with a winch, this was the option. The only addition I think worth mentioning was that in addition to the three ropes, to make sure that the pull was successfully executed, I added a bridle on my car with a 20 tonne snatch rope and asked @Baskaran P.R to maintain tension on the rope once moving so that we could clear the whole of the soft patch and avoid catching any of the ropes in his axle. As so often happens when the tires are under a lot of tension while trying to exit a soft patch like this, the pop-out we had to fix on the car once free was unfotunate as it took more time.

What an awesome and challenging day. @Rahimdad you sir managed the convoy so smoothly although the area was super crowded with crazy daredevils. special thanks to all the seniors @Jasim Khumi @Ahmed Wagdy and @Islam Soliman who helped me with a stubborn refusal that almost got my tire to pop-out yet they handled it perfectly and saved me a visit to the tire shop 😛 @Humayun Ghias I learned a new thing about my car today, that the traction control system reengages after switching from 4-low to 4-high. did you notice such a behavior with your patrol?

Thanks for the prompt report @Wrangeld, and great feedback. I know I have a long way to go. The point in your report that clearly resonates with me was the soft sand at various points that I need to come to terms with reading and manoeuvring. In fullness of time I hope I will get there. All in all you had it all at hand, imparting a great deal of tips and skills throughout the drive and recoveries, I had a great time! Thank you so much @Rahimdad, @Islam Soliman and @Ahmed Wagdy Such an amazing drive! I was a bit timid in the beginning as I saw the convoy speeding up on massive dunes before me. I soon got into my comfort zone and with the guidance of the team and observing the convoy; I was able to learn new things altogether. Thankfully my radio only started dying on me towards the very end. Lesson learnt, not to trust the battery meter and recharge nonetheless. Rahimdad, thank you for hooking me up with the kinetic rope kit as well!

.... you have said it very well and exactly to the point Angela @Foxtrot Oscar and I guess based on that and maybe other factors the selection criteria was put .... if I speak about my self I will not subscribe to advance drive unless I know that I can handle the super advance and not just advance . What do you think @Emmanuel?! I don’t know why I have the feeling that our first meeting will be in such kind of drive and the pleasure will be all mine 😄🌷

Often getting stuck and trying for self recoveries also may cause transmission overheat. Continuous switching between the gears D-R-N to recover from a stuck may heat transmission, especially if the weather is hot.
