Dear @Thomas Varghese old produced Vehicles are like brand new when it’s timely maintained according to schedule or even ahead which is recommended to all who practice our highly demanding hobby on weekly bases . Even in 16000km new one this can happen when you pay a weekly visit to desert . Agree with you for the on road unluckily. It was just a possibility one out of many 😄4 points

Also check for any hidden cracks in the rubber boot connector to the intake manifold . Check if it’s squeezable or not I mean if feels hard occult crack can be there which even after cleaning still will bring dust and sand in causing same symptom. ( personal experience)4 points

@Ranjan Daslet me know what they say. Very curious and can happen to any jeeper.4 points

Dr @M.Seidam the crack is unlikely as its a very new car. Its run only 16000km not like our Xterras which was produced a long time ago.3 points

After speaking to @Ranjan Das and analyzing the symptoms I believe its due the the MAF sensor becoming dirty. He self services his air filter and probably one of the times didn't close the air box properly seated and maybe the MAF sensor got dirty. The symptom he described was when climbing uphill straight and when he floors the accelerator the engine RPM cuts down from 4500 and he loses power. MAF sensor tells the ECM how much air is being pulled into the intake manifold at what temperature and ECM sends the signal to the injectors to spray the fuel as per the data input from the MAF sensor. If the data is incorrect because the sensor is dirty the ECM cannot instruct the injectors to speed up the spray and its duration which results in loss of power. As per him, his garage said it maybe because of abnormal rise in engine coolant temperature while doing extreme climbing but he said there is not much difference showing in the temp gauge. Also if the engine temperature shoots up like his garage said it will take some time for the fans & the radiator to cool it down to operating temperature. Anyways I told him to clean the MAF sensor and observe the result in this drive. Let us wait and see.3 points

Dear Desertnauts couldn't ask for a better pack of drivers to orbit Solar Park. We'll proceed from the vicinity of the "glass pyramid" through the Middle Earth, across Little Sweihan, via a couple of sabkhas and along Faqa Plateau, then northward on D66, and finally back west through Lisaili. The most challenging aspects of the drive will be the initial heat and soft sand, and the crossing of the slip-faces along D66 (Desert 66, running along E66), before reaching the final stretch at Lisaili. Please reach as punctually as possible to start around 3:00PM, as the whole track should need at least 4 hours to cover 🍀. We'll choose the radio channel on the spot, while the convoy will line up as follows: @Thomas Varghese will resume his Second Lead position of many drives ago @Fabien Monleau will be #3 @Sunil Mathew at #4 @Vaibhav will be #5 @Pacific at #6 (after a few Sweeps, back at the core of the pack) @Gilbert Khalil at #7 @Anoop Nair at #8, and @Christian Andras free to Sweep. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow afternoon. Enjoy the evening.3 points

Dear Dune Surfers, The Drive name says it all , the idea of this drive is to practice the skill and enjoy the thrill of riding on the Sand Ridges. This drive is Part 1 of 3 Skill Drive Series which will be posted in subsequent weeks depending on the Off road Plan with Carnity to balance all leads and drives to get as best possible a balance of variety in terms of challenges, drives, leads, terrains and areas. Part 1 - Ridge Rider Republic – Al Qudra – 21 May 2022 Part 2 - Criss Cross Country – Faqa ??– TBA Part 3 - Technical Terrain Transit - Will be posted in coming weeks All three are for Fewbie Plus and above only as we believe at this level you are well aware of your car, your driving style in sync with your car for these drives to learn, challenge and improve albeit safely. Please watch out for the subsequent parts in coming weeks and join in as per your availability. As the names suggest, we would be focusing on the Different skills for Dune surfing over the next few weeks. For Part 1 we will be driving in the long range dunes as much as possible. We will be taking the longer route from Qudra towards Lisaili which means we will be driving through area near Solar park and some technical patches to traverse between long range dunes hitting every ridge in safest way possible. Drive Time is expected to be 3 hours . We will be moving in parallel to the Dirt Track connecting Qudra to Lisaili in case of any early exits. We will specifically hit the areas in these terrains which will offer us maximum dunes for doing the drive purpose. Make sure you come with a full tank, Car in good conditions, recovery gear for this level (Radio, Flag, Deflator, Compressor, Kinetic rope and Soft shackles). Recovery points should be checked and in good conditions. It is preferable for the cars to have a front bash plate (6mm or more) to keep the radiator protected, if not it is at your own risk to join. In my case, after pushing my car 2 hours in the desert i will loose the capability to drive up long dunes . I have an obd monitor installed that allowes me to monitor the temp and other information recieved from the car ecu like The MAF and AfR , transmission temp and coolent temp. And what i noticed is that all the readings are not changing much during power loss episodes except the coolent temp increases from 77 to (between 95 to 108 °c i lose power) for the gauge in the dashboard this temp is still normal. I think you should use a Bluetooth obd and monitor the temp live. if you are facing this issue when temp is high then you will know where to look for a solution. Thanks,2 points

This means that departure will be at a much warmer hour then previously, with softer sand conditions, and that we will move, at times, across the dunes' slip-faces. We'll also have to run against the clock of the setting sun, which we hope to see going down in front of us, as we reach the planned exit, at the Three Trees area. Considering the Intermediate level, we are planning a smooth, rythmic drive, with a meditative feel (as some have said of my long-range drives). After my Xterra was giving me problems after problems regarding check engine light I bought a professional Autel Scan tool. The Autel Maxicheck (Cost 1800 AED). Eliminated most of the problems by using the scan tool in live mode and observing the sensor values. Now the engine purrs like a cat. I was surprised to find out a new sensor which I didn't even know could stall an engine and affect its performance existed. The Power steering pressure sensor at the pump. The car can stall while idling because the sensor went bad and cannot tell the ECU to increase the RPM when you turn your steering at very slow speeds. OMG you have no idea how busy I got after acquiring this new toy. I need the help of @Hisham Masaad to help me acquire a bracket to permanently fix the scan tool to the dashboard like he has fixed his tab for the GPS.1 point

Hi @Siddick Sait that model can only be programmed with a laptop, special cable, and Crony software which is mostly in Chinese. So you are better off getting a model with a programming display. Baofeng UV5R, Motorola or Crony MT777 are all good models that are easy to program without a laptop and we have the programming instructions posted on the forum here.1 point

Hi Mike, See below link to a clever calculator that shows offset changes etc related to your car https://www.tyresizecalculator.com/charts/rim-width-range-and-measuring-rim-width-for-tire-size I did a fair bit of research (although for Toyota Prado). below is the link to the article, some of which might be of help for you Regarding to wheels, Almost all offroad versions from KMC / Rhino / Method appeared to come in Zero offset (again, when enquiring for Prado. Not sure if this is same for Pajero) Hope this helps rather than hinders your decisions haha! PS. I am 100% sure that all cars look better with a wider track haha!!1 point
