Good morning All ! @Ahmed Wagdy @Sayed Bilal @Tom V@Paul Zietsman@premindra rajaram@Juzer Gandhi@Joji varghese@Thejas Uthran@Benjamin @Nathan L@Ajit John@Gregory @Rajiv Sam@munkybizness First of all i wanted to thank you all for signing on for this drive. On a weekly basis we venture out in the desert for our regular dune-driving activities, but often we forget to stand still for a moment and just enjoy the scenery, take some photos, and interact with each other. The aim for this drive is to focus on these exact things. So please don't expect to be able to do side-sloping or big hill climbing. Bring your camera, bring friends or family, and just enjoy the beauty that Northern UAE has to offer. The landscape is now quickly changing with railroads being built, and a lot of other infrastructural changes. The terrain as we know today might not be there anymore in 10years from now. Expect to see farms, donkeys, cows (if we are lucky), goats, and plenty of camels. The track will lead us to very quiet and remote areas with plenty of vegetation around us. The exact exit point will be either Adhen or Falaj Al Mualla, based on the progress. We will be mostly using existing farm tracks or pylon tracks to navigate through the terrain. Nevertheless we will have some sections in the dunes as well but more limited. As soon as the winter comes, you will see more of these kinds of drives, even extending into full day drives where we make our way into the mountains and even reaching the East Coast. My first drive in over a month, and what better way to take the edge off than a night drive with Doc @Chaitanya D. I also haven't been to the gym in over a month - thank you for taking care of that too 😛 The last time I was in Sharjah, at night, was at least a couple of months ago with Srikumar where we encountered very similar challenges to the one we faced last night. Of course, that was a higher-level drive in the Area 53 side of the Sharjah's dunes. But the results were not too dissimilar. And I don't think any driver should be thinking too hard about any of the refusals last night. These are all part of the process in offroading. It was great experience in learning how to do complex recoveries including self-recovery, tethered support, and the tugs of course. So much on the learning agenda in one night. What was extremely surprising and perhaps one of the largest challenges as I followed Doc, was that while the climb up to the top of the dune was hardened, there were deposits of soft sand at the top on seemingly flat surfaces. This required a change in driving styles as most of us let off the power just as about half the chassis clears the top of a dune. Thank you Doc, for giving us the opportunity to still play around at Big Red in the wee hours of the morning. I also felt so much more comfortable returning to the sand in the presence of so many familiar faces, names, and of course the supremely more capable support peers in @Waqas Parvez & @Rajiv Sam. Having you gents around takes the edge off @Dinesh Kumar A - most of your refusals were down to just a general hesitation in powering through. This will go away as you get more comfortable, or blind 😛 @Andrei S - seeing you sideways in the first 30 minutes was quite a sight. I'm certain that the mood inside the cabin was a lot more tense but you handled that supremely well. You worked hand-in-hand with Doc's advice and the result was a recovery executed perfectly. @Felix Obst, @Ashutosh Garg: great driving all around. For all the other familiar faces, thank you for making my night back out so much fun. See you all out on the sands soon! [ 🐵 ]

Dear Sand Sailors Thanks for joining in the drive today. As it was to be The Fellowship of the Ring completed the loop we had set out for. And for this first and foremost, a loud shout out for the Platoon leaders @Chris Wing @Ranjan Das @Rob S and our CF @Looper, you guys guided the convoy like Gandalf and ensured all refusals, stuck, pop out (the one) were fixed in fast and safe way. Thanks a lot for your continuous support and for keeping the convoy motivated throughout this treacherous terrain, It was quite a work today with ropes, shovels out regularly, you handed it all with smile and patience. Also, as i had mentioned even before we started, it was one of the most challenging drives to be a SL. Thanks @Senthil Kumar our Samwise, for managing the role brilliantly. Sand was soft and terrain demanded me to make adjustments quite regularly. Your red wrangler in my rear view mirror, kept me going with the plans. Understand you had some issues with radio transmission - as you go up the levels, this is a critical tool in your hand, so make sure its fully charged always and if some issue, would be good to get it fixed. For the rest of the convoy, you all were amazing today. This terrain is one of the most challenging areas in Dubai - with steep bowls cluttered close to each other. As we well experienced, one stuck and it becomes extremely challenging for rest of convoy to cope in this area. However, we all came out unscathed with smile on our face, having completed our planned route (a bit shortcut but thats part of the game) is in itself a testimony to your skill set and overall this convoy's ability to work as a team. And as we heard repeatedly and experienced first hand throughout this drive - radio communication and convoy discipline are of utmost importance - there is no scope for laxity on any of these and there's always a room for improvement. @Salim Akhtar - A pop-out, and some refusals - welcome back to sand Hope you enjoyed our small little sweihan here in Dubai. @salah2u and @Mahmoud Taha - apart from couple of refusals, you both did really well throughout. @Tareq Al Turq desert offered a nice warm welcome to you today - with some picture perfect stucks and refusals. Overall very well driven, not easiest of terrain to explore after a break - but you managed it well. @Haitham Khattab @Amr Aydin and @Imteeaz - another smooth well executed drive for you all. Thanks all and hope to see you all soon. @Rob S - congratulation on completing your 50 drives with Carnity. Was good to have your their in convoy today.
