Thanks @Frederic for organizing the drive. It was nice drive. Many thanks for the support team for helping other drivers to enjoy the trip. 2 weeks ago at liwa drive, i wasnt convinced abt the lengthy checklist @Frederic was asking us to verify. Today i would like to thank him a million time; so he was the reason to make me check the spare tyre and be ready for the un-known.. today i had a tyre buncher while entering the sand, although my tyres were just 3 weeks old and AT... something hit the side wall of the tyre while driving. Nothing to regret. spare was there and checked recently because of liwa drive plus i got the tools and the right help from other drivers to fix it on no-time. Guys, long story short check ur spare tyre from time to time and always be ready... @Frans M, @Theo09, @premindra rajaram , tea fellas hope u enjoyed the tea 😂😂 back there. thanks all and hope to see u all on sand again. Thanks @Frederic for a lovely fun drive this morning … was a nice refreshing drive through beautiful farms (Cows in desert was surely a unique element), wet dunes and some nicely lined up camel racing tracks. It was my second drive through this route with you and not sure why but the couple of crossings through high bushes on both sides is something that always sticks with me here, just enjoy the feel of it 😀 Though we had to cut down the track a bit due to some long stoppages (tyre issue and couple of interesting stucks), the energy of the convoy and your ability to keep the tempo high ensured we all ended the drive with a smile. The whole convoy drove really well. It’s not easy adapting to fast changing terrain (and it changed quite a bit through the drive), the whole convoy managed it with elegance and style. Despite it being a long convoy the communication was smooth and reflects very positive on temperament of all the drivers. @Danish Mohammad and @Dodi Syahdar was nice catching up with you both. Thanks for your support @Mike M. brilliant second lead 👍 @lucas amat was really fun seeing you handle that jeep smoothly through the drive - no extra gas and very good control. @rohit kumar it was nice to hear your Raptor roar through the terrain . I know at certain moments we enjoy the beats from engine, however, as Fred mentioned during briefing as well, one of the key elements of off-roading is to be able to do most with min utilization of car power (can assure you will need all of it when you go ahead in levels). @Theo09 was really nice to see your vehicle in the rear view mirror - very smooth communication and handling of vehicle. Perhaps a bit more work on keeping up with convoy speed Owise you were really amazing today. Rest of convoy I didn’t have direct view but overall every one did really well. Thanks for a lovely morning out on sand.

The dream come true. I was the first to get stuck in just after take off. Learnt about momentum on my first drive. Thanks to everyone for your support. Enjoyable drive and the most important is the First Lady said it was very safe and I can continue to drive 😂😅. Looking forward for the next drive.

Hi @Frederic, Sorry for the late response 😅, my name is Rashid Omar 21 years old from Sharjah, I joined @lucas amata few weeks ago to a newbie desert drive and I liked it 😁 so I decided to join. I drive a 2008 Toyota Land Cruiser V6 with front and rear tow points available. Going off road was the first thing I did as soon as I received my driving license 3 years ago 😂. But I self learned everything the hard way plus some YouTube tutorials, so I think I know all the basics. I usually go alone with a few friends, so I don’t take high risks by going deep into the desert. But now that I joined the off road club, I can enjoy and increase the level of adventure 🙃✌️. I've done Musandam somewhere in 2018 with Arabic speaking friends. We drove to Khasab port and took our camping gear with us and approached one of the fishermen. He took us to one of the beaches, around here somewhere: https://goo.gl/maps/JfKFSFp9bBhxjEtNA dropped us off, and came to pick us up a 9AM the next morning. We camped at the beach and for the first time ever i saw the phytoplankton in the ocean. It was unforgettable ! I was not able to take a photo but it looked like this:

@Brett Eicher There is a stunning gravel trail that is easily doable with our machines from Khasab through to Jebel al Harim and south all the way to the Wadi Biyah junction. Along the way you'll see little farms and the mountain range being split by the road you're on. The challenge is that this is a one-way path. So once you get to the Wadi Biyah junction, there is a military checkpoint and only the nationals of UAE & Oman (may perhaps be GCC too) can pass through this gate back into Ras Al Khaimah for you to continue to Jebel Jais. As an expat, I need to turn back around and retrace the same track to Khasab from where I need to again use the official land border to cross back into the UAE. One of the ways in which I was thinking about doing it was to enter from the Khasab coastline and return back from the Dibba border. I just need to scope out how to take the Rawdah exit from Biyah west towards Zighy and south down to Dibba. Would love to try and scope this out with you if you're keen.

Hi Carnity, Has anyone traveled the area in Oman that is in northern UAE? It looked like an interesting area to spend a few days exploring the mountains and coastlines, and would love any feedback/recommendations. My aim is offroading/overlanding style, and camping out of my truck. And, if anyone thinks this sounds like fun and want to join, let me know. I'm aiming to go over the next couple weeks. What a great day capped with a fantastic drive. Quaa is not for the fainthearted but we had our fair share of daredevils who took up the challenge. As the terrain throws up one challenge after the other more like a video game with boss levels, you are bound get some bruises on the way. We had to deal with pop-outs, refusals, stucks, broken bumpers and finally a recovery of an almost dead car. But the most important thing in the end that we were able to come out together as safely as we went in and for that a huge credit to our lead @GauravSoni. Thanks for trusting us and giving us confidence at times (during the recovery) when even we were doubting ourselves 😅. @Looper great SL and maintaining pace at the front thats so important @munkybizness @Anoop Nair wonderful driving on your first Quaa trip, the terrain tests your vehicle to the max so selecting the right gears and shifting them at the right time becomes all the more important but i could see that once got the hang of, sailing thru those tall dunes and bowls became much more easier and fun. @Zixuan Huang - Charlie i hope that horrid sound is not what we feared it would be and the car has no major issue. Good thing is we were able to bring it out from some steep climbs. @Mario Cornejo our designated sweep as usual, think @Carnity should make this your official designation now 😂. Was a wonderful experience doing the recovery & synchronizing the power of our cars. Thank you all for your energy, teamwork and chitchat. See you soon!

Hey! It's sorted thank god! It was the fricken peddle commander playing havoc with the computer so I just disconnected it and it worked. I do have a couple of broken engine mounts tho as a side note so I'll get them fixed on Monday and it's not so expensive. The rest of the work can wait until I win the lottery ! See you soon! Imran

@Frederic What a cool experience! And thank you for sharing the location point! I've used Wikiloc a lot as well, fantastic tool. Sometimes people know things that don't show up on it 😅

@munkybizness Thanks for the feedback, and your company would be most welcome! I was looking through google maps, and saw lots of wierd little trails, wadi's and cuts... as you said, I was hoping to find a way linking the north/west and east coasts. I was looking at the map for a khasab-rawdah-dibba route. I did see the check-point you mentioned. wasn't sure how far it extended, and what routes it cut off. A shame, that as expats we are prevented from taking some of these trails, as they look fun. I read that Jebel al Haram peak is off limits, which makes sense, as this is where military facilities are set up... comms towers or radar stuff.

Out of interest, is there any reason why this isn't practiced any more within @Carnity? Although in my time with Carnity I have only seen two failures (one was the tow point shearing off on a car being tugged, resulting in a near miss, and the other more recent one was the soft shackle breaking on the car that was tugging, resulting in considerable damage to the car being tugged from the recoiling kinetic rope) this additional safety measure would have prevented both incidents.
