Thank you @Looperfor the lead and fun drive. @Kailasand @Islam Soliman@DP1011 thank you for the support and guidance. During our break, a conversation started amongst the Jeep owners on the risk of rear bumpers falling off and the location of the stock licence plate not being ideal for dessert drives. Also heard there was separate conversations going on around engine failures… As we set off, we must have manifested all that negative talk 😁. Lost my licence plate on a refusal going up and down a dune (thank you @DP1011 for recovering and holding on to it) and almost had my rear bumper come off ! Then, shortly after Islam’s engine wouldn’t start. All ended well with Islam’s car making it to the exit point and I managed to secure my plate back on the bracket before heading back home. Should have listened to the wise words of @Varun Mehndiratta on moving the plate location and getting that the bumper trimmed 😁. It was fun driving with you all of you and hope to see you on the next one5 points

A drive that consumed half the fuel tank but less than quarter of radio battery. Do I need to say more? Thanks @Ashutosh Garg @Imran Kashif @Tom B @Anoop Nair @Joseph Raju for a fun morning on sand.5 points

Thanks @Varun Mehndirattafor another fantastic drive. I wanna share with you all @Carnity my experience of today overheating, the reason behind the overheating of my car is the reserve coolant tank suction pipe was drop inside reserve coolant tank that's why the radiator starts the coolant reverse instead of suction (because the suction pipe was detached from reserve tank) and so I reattached the pipe and for the safe side I replace my car's radiator cap also. Now my car is ready for another adventure 😀 ALHAMDULILLAH Thanks @Varun Mehndiratta for the guidance and thanks @Ashutosh Garg @Joseph Raju @Anoop Nair and great sweep support from @Tom B.4 points

What an awesome drive! We managed to cover a lot of distance across different desert areas, all the way to the magnificent Sweihan, which never disappoints. Thanks @Frederic for planning and organising it, we were spot on at the exit at 3pm which is not easy to manage on such long drives. Thanks to all the support team and @Zed for pulling me out from that embarassing cresting incident (I think I was the only one who required a tug during the whole drive?). Even though waking up at 4am is not our type of fun, we never regretted it! My lost front number plate was an icing on the cake!3 points

It seems a flaw that the warranty should handle and fix or at least explain. If its completely stock and nothing has been tinkered with Engine Management System, then you should seek dealership help.2 points

Hi @Vijaya Kumar Doppa I checked with TE on mopar lift kit few months back, it wasn’t affecting the warranty. I didn’t pursue the upgrade eventually though. Since you are buying new, I would suggest to get it confirmed and if possible have it in writing before making the decision. It’s always tricky on warranty. Just to highlight, I understand the aesthetic part that a lift brings in for Jeep, however, it’s still a functional upgrade which will affect both your onroad and off-road experience. So evaluate this change judiciously. Also if this is the main upgrade presently in mind, would recommend to check Off-road zone as well in addition to Jeepers and TE, might find a good deal. Again as mentioned already by all and my personal experience, stock jeep can do it all, especially Rubicon has no limits. Any functional mods you will do will affect the base geometry and dynamics of car for good or bad - so aesthetic apart do consider all elements.2 points

My first intermediate drive. Thank you @Varun Mehndirattafor making this drive tremendous and remarkable. Challenges…. Full of challenges. First challenge was reaching the meeting point by overcoming the heavy fog. Then meet up the fast pace and the beautiful terrain of the sweihan. Drove with a beautiful, short and skilled convoy. Thank you @Ashutosh Garg, @Anoop Nair, @Imran Kashif, @Tom Bfor your support. It was my pleasure drive with you all.2 points

2023 Sahara all stock except for 2.5 inch lift. In the worst times where I actually need power the car decideds to kill power. I see the owners manual mentions engine Tourque Reduction as a safety feature. Anyone has this problem? I use the onboard switch to kill TC/ESC. Driving in 4H on sand, a couple of times lost power on the side of a dune leaving me in a risky situation.... I this something a tunning or a chip can undo? Is it just my car?1 point

What an amazing ride today. It was an absolute fun driving in convoy exploring the pristine dunes. Thanks to the Leads - Gaurav, Sree & Vanessa who had been very helpful to all of us in convoy. I look forward to do next ride soon. Have a nice week everyone.1 point

YOLO, if you are into getting a car with 35 inch tires more than anything, just do it. We would advise more from our point of view, but ultimately your decision lies on what you desire. You don’t want to have a buyers remorse as soon as you get your car. Because you have to live with it for years perhaps.1 point

Thank you for joining the drive today. Despite the fog, everyone was at the meeting point more or less on time. Except @Abdul Basit Khan (see above), sorry for that, always disappointing when something happens just before the drive, but as you said, better have this issue on the road than in the desert. Hope to see you soon in another drive. The drive was smooth and fluid, thanks to the excellent level of the drivers. We had our fill of high climbs, large bowls, elevated ridges in the first portion. The second portion offered large dunes, with a lot of space, perfect to push a bit and let these engines roar. These parts required not only a powerful car, but also a precise driving and and accurate selection of line. All of you managed very well. After a small break under the shade, (yes, nice trees in the desert), the last portion was more relaxed, still very enjoyable through virgin dunes and soft sand, a bit technical, finishing on the sabkha, and reaching the exit track. No shovel, no rope, barely a few refusals, well done all of you ! @Krishna R thank you for the 2nd lead, always watching and rerouting when needed. @Zed, nice to see you after a long time, than you for the support from the middle. @Gurcharan Mehta, nice opportunity to test that new car in desert condition, @Pascal, excellent driving as usual, @KAMALIO, thanks for joining after that Tropic drive, @Amr Aydin, very reliable sweep as usual, thank you. Always good to have both of you in the drive (Sophie, waiting for the pics ;)). Enjoy the rest of the weekend and see you soon. Pls post your pics and/or feedback.1 point

@Varun Mehndiratta thanks! I'm not sure what modifications or detailing I want to make in the future. Still, I'm certain I like the aesthetics of the upgraded Jeep Rubicon, so I might at least get 35-inch tires and spacers to make it look more comprehensive, as well as a 2.5-3.5 inch lift and electronic steel side steps. Do these simple modifications void the warranty? If so, I should also check out the Jeepers edition to see their configuration and learn more about their warranty policy for the modifications.1 point

Hey @Looperand guys, sorry I missed to join this morning. Had taken cold relief tablet at nite and that put me to dead sleep, missing alarms etc. Heard you had a good drive. Well done.1 point

Ramadan offers are the best offer to secure if you are in the market for a new vehicle, as these discounts are incomparable with any other offers. Not only for Jeep, but for all car dealers in UAE.1 point

Thanks @Zed @Kailas @Looper for the Conversations/ Inputs..... and thanks @Gaurav, yes totally aligned to your view , for the peace of mind, going ahead with dealer calibrate. it..1 point
-
Let the dealer calibrate it, just for the sake of warranty even if it costs extra days or money. As for any upgrade, they can easily wash off their hands when some serious claim arises.1 point
-
The only issue with 285 upgrade will be, the speedometer will be slightly off. @Kailas never got his done. I did mine, but I could have done with the Tazer JL (I bought it later). They are scaring you with the warranty, as this process is a grand in billing for them. edit: I did not do the software flash immediately and did it later about one/two services after the upgrades. I did it due to my OCD, as in the back of my mind the KM reading is not right and as a result I couldn’t sleep properly in most nights.1 point
-
Hello fellow Jeeper (yay I get to say this now), when you upsize to bigger/wider tires, the speedometer is not accurate anymore and the transmission shifts is no longer optimum (it was optimized for stock size tires 255). Bring a measuring tape and $20 (for adding new VIN license) and with the magic of OBD + JScan app we can calibrate the TCM so the speedometer & shift timings are calibrated to new tire height 😁 OR you can remain as is, the automatic shifting will be a bit late (high RPM as you said), but since you'll be driving manual, you sir are the Computer and you control the shifting 😊1 point
-
@Frederic - As much as I am looking forward to this one, I have recently upgraded on tyres ( from 255 to 285) for mine, warranting Calibration to be done ( Never knew about this hole to pocket! ) , I was told by Showroom guys, without calibration, the warranty gets void, and apparently they receive code/software, which is still not received - hopefully its done by Satday latest. Can the experts here throw some light / confirm for my academic knowledge - how risky or safe is it to drive without calibration done ? ( I already feel the RPM going high even on-road drive, in automode, and am hence driving in M mode !) Just being extra cautious to not to go for FB+ Drive without calibration done !1 point

To join Fred and make it to the NB convoy, @Zed please don't get stuck on every dune.1 point

Hi @Frederic added myself to WaitList. Torn between choosing this or go for @Srikumar's Newbie Sweihan just to meet him and pick up my walkie-talkie 😅 , but the promise of high-paced drive from Solar Park to Sweihan maybe better to test my new Cherokee V8. I'm also guessing this high-paced drive will have less chance of shovelling too 🙏 cos I'll be fasting 😊1 point

Good afternoon guys and thanks for signing up for this drive ! @Richard Franks@DP1011 , Deepak wrangler@Rob S@Bjoern@Jona@Looper@AlexM This drive will offer a good blend of all the skills required as as FB+ driver. I have seen all of you driving before and know that with this convoy we can probably drive to Milkyway Spot in Abu Dhabi I expect to keep a high pace and lots of zig-zagging and cresting to make our way south towards Sweihan. We might come across @Gauravhis Newbie convoy over there, and if we do we will definitely go and say hello. The final exit point would be here: https://goo.gl/maps/MnzP3pRE7DAvpSRH7 This is easily a trip in the region of 150kms, so make sure you are fully fueled up upon arrival. We will stop around noon for a quick lunch so bring some snacks or salad/sandwich. (if you are not fasting). More info later this week with the convoy setup. Peace out !1 point

The Golden Camel single cylinder is the one I purchased when started off-roading and later gave it to Vanessa. She’s still using it every week and never broke down. (Fingers crossed). I’m a bit handy so whenever something breaks I’ll tear it apart and make one good compressor out of 3 bad ones 😅1 point
