I have never seen @Davie Chase climb dunes the size of Eiffel Tower before. There's always a first time! I have pushed the Jimny and it delivered well. On it's own pace at times, but kept moving, that too on a FB+ means a lot to me. Thank you for believing in me and letting this happen 🙏🏼 Learning from the drive 1. Tactical first gear is very important to climb on the softest of soft sands of AD. By tactical I mean setting it to 1st but not flooring it until the right time (10% area left before the climb). 2. Steer down and try again, another shirt for me to print and wear. Helped in tricky situations 3. @Patrick van der Loo, without you this would had been very tough. I hereby grant you the title of #JimnyGuardian. Your patience allowed me to focus on what to do to tackle what's ahead. Thank you very much, and I look forward to learning a lot more from you soon. Although the track is fully churned up by being second last in the convoy, your guidance always finds a way to make the Jimny keep moving. 4. @Imran Asghar set a new refusal tune. No going back now. 5. Closing windows is wiser when in a FB+ drive, I had sand in places I never thought sand could be in. Talking about my car. @Emanuel an awesome SL as always. I use a SnapMount with DJI Osmo Action 4. Mount is strong enough to be held up at Sharjah Post Office due to its rare earth magnets lol. I use 2.7k, 60fps. Comes out as smooth as Sweihan's sand. @Issam Atra I'm extremely glad that you are okay and I wish to see you back in the sand very soon @Gurcharan Mehta, thanks for stepping in during the situation and I did check out the LC70 after the drive, thanks to your convincing. #JimnyPower

Good news All ! @Vanessa8580 has volunteered to take a second convoy, so we will be able to take 2 full convoys on this drive. Due to the large size we will put two different meeting points, but the route itself will be 99% the same. The convoys list will be shared on Saturday. PS this is not a dunebashing drive, as we will be mostly using farm-tracks to drive in the area due to lots of vegetation. The aim is to enjoy the scenery, make unforgettable photos, and do some gentle wadi driving

For the other newbie convoy with @Gaurav, we had a nice and balanced drive , exposing our absolute newbies to a variety of terrain and driving techniques. I am sure all of us had a wonderful time getting to know our cars better, finding the right inputs for steering and throttle all through the drive. It was nice driving with you all @Salim Akhtar - great seeing you after some time , all the way from abu dhabi, to reinforce the 2L !!! @Vipin M @TIMMY and @Wilfredo Perez had their first experience in sand and hope it was a very enriching one. You all did great for first timers and i'm sure you have taken home loads of learning and pointers to implement on your next drive. Some refusals, stucks , re-attempts etc you went through are the real experiences which will get etched in your mind, to be better prepared for your next sand outing. @monkeywrench - nice to finally meet you, after the brief chats we had on our Fortuner owners' group. Great mods on your car, and hope your re-entry to the sands after a break was enjoyable. Finally we were able to tame that run away diff lock of yours !! @Fabien Monleau at CF binding the 2 parts of the convoy at the centre, had a busy time with guiding our friends to self recover, sometimes with some shovel time also. Good to see you also after a gap @GS periwal @GabrielH - driving at the tail end did a great job in conquering the terrain and slightly churned up track created by the front runners. Occasional refusals, re-attempts are part of the game and learning experiences as Gaurav mentioned during our briefing. Important thing is to keep learning something new and coming back with confidence to try out all the learning. @Nicolò - driving right in front of me, with no issues, which is testament of his prior experiences in sand. Smooth and safe drive. Really enjoy. Thank you @JeromeFJ for the wonderful drive. We expected a lot of convoy because of some treasure hunt. But we also find some nice dunes to play and it was really nice. Convoy was really good. All are experienced drivers. Only a few refusals ( one is mine) @Joji varghese was amazing second lead, but due to some technical issues with his car, he has to leave the convoy early and his place and role was really covered by @Rajiv Sam. Amazing support by @Zed as center forward. I was following him and saw his jeep power (I already had a experience before) Sweep role was really fulfilled by @Amr Aydin . Most of the time radio was silent which showing the concentration and driving skills of the convoy. It was very nice to part of such convoy.

@Emanuel You might want to look at the settings of the place you are uploading the video to. For example, when I export from my gopro at 4k, or the insta, it looks amazing on my phone, as well as on the TV on my home network. But when I upload it to youtube/vimeo/instagram/facebook, or send via whatsapp the video is downsized and down sampled resulting in the grainyness. youtube for example will re-encode your videos as well which depending on size and format you have uploaded in, take a bit of time to do. Watching is straight after uploading will not look as good as hours or days later once the re-encode is complete. And yes i have same suction cup mount as @Jaro Tuzinsky

Fantastic evening Fredy. Though I have not heard much of the Queen songs before, it was really great to have such a special screening. Vehhicle details - Mitsubishi Pajero 3.8 LWB, White, 2019 Have completed 3 Newbie drives with carnity in total, 2 Drives was more than a year ago with Renault Koleos 4wd, and 1 Drive with Pajero recently last to last week. Confirm vehicle has front and rear tow hooks. Have a programable radio and safety flag.

Dear technical drive lovers ! Below quick drive summary : Thank you for joining and most importantly being on time ! Having immense experience of Murquab/Solar park, @M.Seidam as our SL was something that I couldn't have asked for more ! Thanks Doc for joining this drive and having you in convoy was very special ! With quiick, but detailed briefing, specific to FB level and specific to the drive terrain and plan, we started the drive about 7.30. Soon the convoy was offered with the challenges of testing their skills on maneuvering the interesting dunes of Murquab. We did encounter some vegetation which was nicely handled by the convoy. Overall, I must say it was very well done by the entire convoy. We all were well prepared for the next 4 hours of slow pace drive and it was indeed well executed. Thanks for keeping that extra one hour buffer and we exited just about 15 minutes ahead of time ( including the buffer;) ) The SWB guys at the front, @Ahmed Farouk @Renier Venter @Mahmut @Marek_was003 You guys did really well by your smooth movement. Specially the first 2, which was your first FB drive. @lucas amat - been long and good to see you what you do with your machine ! @Shiju Raju was a busy day for you but am sure lot of learnings from this one which you will cherish long time ! @Robk U continue to impress me with your LWB, specially in drives like this ! Am sure it was more easier today, since you had done part of this during Jingle Jungle drive :D! @Mahesh_ & @Gautam Banka - I hardly heard anything from you and well done ! It was truly a wonderful drive yesterday with a great amount of knowledge. Beginning section was a good technical part then @Davie Chase led us out of the forest making it a fun drive and @Simon D found playful side dunes where of course he had to steer down. Lastly @Rob S holding down desert lectures with full attendance from students. Also we should definitely open the first garage workshop in the middle of the desert. Dear Friends, great morning out in the sand today ! We managed to build a fluid convoy, flowing from one set of big dunes to another, riding the ridges, circling the bowls, climbing the big faces. We had a few challenges, starting by facing the rising sun, exactly in our eyes in the first hour, but also the beautiful contrast of climbing from a dark side in the shade, switching on a ridge to a bright sunny sand slope. Many cross tracks in some areas, but we could tick the big climbs of the Sweihan area. After the first hour, the sun was not a problem anymore, but the wind was rising, blowing sand everywhere, blurring the view for the crossings. At the summit of the Old Lady dune, it was impossible to see the actual ground, covered by the flying sand, and we dived directly into the steep descend. Unfortunately @Joji varghese had to leave us, his car deciding to go 2H only. In the last portion by Al Ain Airport, the big bowls were abused by cross tracks, and a motorbike/ buggy rally was in the way, but we managed to find nice virgin portions, steady climbs, before a fluid finish to reach the exit track. More than 70 km, average moving speed above 25 km/h, barely a few refusals, this is proof of the skills and focus of each driver, but also the cohesion we managed to build within the group. @Joji varghese @Mark B @Jaro Tuzinsky @Jona @Zed @Joseph Raju @Naveen Raj @Rajiv Sam @Amr Aydin, thanks again for joining today ! An Introduction to Queen It's not easy to explain the band Queen and what they have meant for countless bands that were later inspired by them, and for the millions of fans that found happiness and joy in their songs. From the early 70s, Queen emerged as a band that wasn't afraid to cross musical boundaries. Was it Glam Rock, Heavy Metal, Opera, Pop, Disco? Well to be honest, they did it all, and seamlessly wrote music that 50 years later is still relevant and being enjoyed by the next generations. The movie "Bohemian Rhapsody", released in 2018, was successful in creating a biopic of a band full of extremely talented band members, helmed by a FABOULUSY talented lead singer, Freddy Mercury. Freddy, originally named Farrokh Bolsara, who came from Parsi Indian parents, born in Zanzibar, grew up in India, and ended up in the UK, was a shy sensitive kid behind the screens, but an enigmatic performer on stage. There was no Queen without Freddy, who carried flamboyance, style, but above all, a voice that could carry throughout a stadium and bring out emotions unlike any other performer that time. Throughout the years, the band and its members had their ups and downs, but the real magic was always to be found on stage. Their live performances were some of the most unique, and in the playlist for the Sonic Experience, a lot of them are incorporated to showcase how good they were live and how they got the audience to give them "a touch of the heavens". Queen has played all over the globe, with 1985 being an iconic year, where they played for a mindboggling 350,000 people in Rio, and played the Live Aid concert, which had 80,000 people attending and 1.5 Billion people watching that night. All other artists who attended the concert later admitted that it was Queen who blew off the roof of the stadium. Unfortunately, Freddy Mercury became HIV positive in the eighties, and during that time not much was known about the disease, that eventually turned into AIDS, which was incurable. Freddy kept performing until August 1986, and a few more albums were made. Freddy sadly passed away on 24th November of 1991. The legacy of Queen cannot be understated. Having sold more than 300 million albums worldwide, they are amongst the greatest bands that ever existed. Since Freddy's death, the remaining band members did not feel like they wanted to carry on or replace Freddy, but by coincidence stumbled upon Adam Lambert in 2011, who was the runner up of the 2009 American Idol contest. They ended up playing together and found a unique chemistry where they felt Adam could propel Queen back onto the world stage, and they have performed several world tours from 2014 until 2023. In his unique own way, Adam was able to bring honor to the band's original songs without being a Freddy Mercury clone. On the Sonic Desert Experience, the aim is to go mostly chronologically through their repertoire, with a mix of original video clips and live performances. I hope we can all sing together their most iconic songs and have a great evening out !
