  1. What's the Cost of Buying a New Car vs Used Car? Does this rule apply for UAE cars as well? ] If not which points to be considered when it comes to GCC cars.
    3 points
  2. This holds true anywhere in the world. Thus a more reliable ride will cost you more compared to a less reliable one. Example a Toyota Prado 2004 model might be selling between 30k - 40k where as a Ford Explorer of the dame model will sell below 10k. This is because the Toyota is more reliable and generally needs only periodic services, whereas an Explorer needs more repairs thus increasing the cost of ownership. Buying secondhand also means taking on somebody else's problems and you can never be sure, although a proper inspection might help your cause.

  3. Apologies for delay and posting drive on short notice. After last intermediate drive limited interest, I think we should continue newbie/fewbie drives until the intermediate drivers are back in their form. This week we plan to explore our lovely Mahafiz dunes, that offers great mix of newbies and fewbie level on continuous rolling medium sized dunes. If time permit and convoy response are favorable, we might go on top of fossil rock and lay our spread. This area offers a great mix of playable dunes and medium dunes to test your night driving skills. Depending on convoy strength and liking will plan the route to fit everyone's taste. Offroad lights are recommended for a night drive, but if you don't have you can still drive safely with your HIGH BEAM. When: 27 June 2019, Thursday Meeting time: 10 PM, the convoy will move at sharp 10:15 PM Where: ADNOC at Sharjah - Kalba Road GPS Coordinate: https://goo.gl/maps/CjXEpdPqn3NZ7Y8j7 Level: Newbie, Fewbie & Above (NO ABSOLUTE NEWBIE PLEASE.) Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 10 inches of ground clearance. Plan: Drive, train and enjoy till about 3 am and then break for snacks What to bring along: Snacks whatever you like with little extra to share, water, liquids, smiles, stories, enthusiasm and willingness to learn. Approximate finish time: 5:00 AM MUST READ: Off Road Driving - Roles & Responsibilities Off road Driving Etiquette's Off-road Convoy Rules Please RSVP on the below calendar:

  5. Oops. Ok. Car was under warranty or not?

  6. The noise will come from anything that alters the shape of the vehicle. Including but not limited to roof racks and LED bars. I installed LED bars in my jeep and also hear the whistling. But I already expected this.

  7. @Rahimdad rightly said. While trade in my previous car purchased from famous used car dealer in Dubai, dealers reduced 10K straight away than market price on hearing used car dealer name. When I tried to re-sell the same car to the same dealer within purchasing of 5 months, was offering 63% less than price of sold. This mathematics are beyond my imagination.

  9. Anyone who buys a new car must be a special type of mental but if it wasn’t for these people there would be no second hand market. If people want to buy new cars I say let them. But don’t fall into the warranty trap. I posted a thread on here before. There is no legal obligation to stick to the dealer for servicing. It’s a scare sales pitch. If the dealer Denys warranty, there are ways where Dubai government will help you. Check manufacturer regulations. Know the rules. Just say hey I’m sending an email to Japan and most dealers will fall to their knees because they are scared of losing the agency. Know your rights

  12. That is what I thought too. After purchasing that used car under warranty, while trade in with other agency, valuation guy personally informed that car seems accident history. I think, this fact was intentionally hide by used car dealer executive. Also, the same car was under scheme of free insurance and benefit was not passed to me as well. This fact was conveyed by their teammate during trying to resale the same car to them.

  17. Not sure if this will overheat the LED bar, the whole point of that shape is to serve as heatsink and dissipate the heat that the LEDs generate.

  22. Hi Javier, I believe what you mentioned as prefabricated part would be the stock FJ air dam that's available as an additional accessory for the TRD roof rack, Not sure if those are available here in the UAE market as I have seen them only on the US spec FJ's but several roof racks are available in different weights and designs for the FJ's locally. @Chirag S. guess an online purchase would do if its cheaper than the fabrication but for sure it would be a perfect fit than the fabricated ones - Good Luck !

  25. Electric power steering is cool. I used to build a lot of rally cars, old 70s/80s stuff. Ford Escorts and the like. One of the first mods I always done was swap the steering column for one from an Opel corsa. Automatic electric power steering conversion. Once you modified it to fit you just had to run 2 wires to the computer to make it work. No pump sucking your horsepower, no pipes to leak. Turns it into a new car.

  26. @Chirag S. - if your using the TRD roof rack, you can fabricate something similar which might reduce wind noise

  27. @Chirag S. have a look at the below video. You will need do something similar for your roof rack to reduce the noise. The other option which is easier is to get a custom made cover, and just close it.

  28. @Chirag S. I had installed a TRD light weight roof rack on my FJ2 which did not increase the noise heavily, The noise was always there from the front windshield and the side mirrors on the FJ cruisers when you speed on the highways. So the reason maybe they gave a powerful JBL entertainment system, :P !!

  30. Jack the front of the car up so both wheels are off the ground. If it’s still tight when you steer, you might have a bad ball joint or track rod end or something. If it feels ok, you maybe just have a car with heavy steering. I’ve driven a lot of pajeros and I wouldn’t say they have light steering. Try that test and see what happens but it’s probably ok, it’s a pajero not a Range Rover.

  31. True. I’ve bought so many cars at auction in Ireland. The cars are driven through so at least you know they are running. I remember buying a Renault Clio at an auction once. I knew my cousin was looking for one so I took a chance, it was super cheap, so I bought the car and stuck in on a trailer and brought it to her, cash up front, didn’t even charge profit, big mistake. She drove like 3 miles and it overheated. I ended up buying a new engine and fitting it for free because family. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. You can either win big or lose big. That’s the fun of the game. It’s like betting on horses.
