I will share some of the individual best shots after finishing retouch by message.

  2. If this is how it was goin to end.... then what was the point of dragging it for the whole day on forum.

Anyhow glad that this chapter ended finally. Thank you very much.

My apologies to all the members because this whole convo from nowhere must have bugged many with dozens of unwanted notifications.

    Cheers

@BilalAhmad   wow I'm wondering you don't want to pay anything and since morning I'm following to get your car details for the police report, you didn't send me, I'm trying to call I think you block my number????!!!!!!!!!!

I have said it earlier to register police complaint at Qudra, mentioned you the same on whatsapp and above comments. I dont know why on earth we did not go to police same time.

Now please to end this story without any further questions asked please let me know what time tomorrow we can go to Police Station nearby where incident happened and bring your vehicle for examination and I will bring mine and will register the complaint to get insurance claims for both of us.

P.S: I will take the responsibility.

Looking forward to hear from you.

Really wonderful drive, everything was fine, until.... rules are rules, if you want to be part of the group just please follow the rules by the Marshalls. Ok accidents happen but please just get the responsibility over your fault, to cover it. Thank God I didn't bring my family because my son's car seat is at the same side of the accident. I'm not looking for the penalty or coverage of the damage anymore. I gave the car to be repaired in quality condition without his confirmation, because as he expected around AED 300 is enough to repair. This is long story to say, just follow the rules next time if you can't take the responsibility. There is a big difference between end of Ajman repair shops to Al Habtoor, but I got my car to an almost reasonable garage so I will just pay for it. It's a big cumbrance it has caused, even had to rent a car for work these days, but it's part of the game

No doubt the drive was wonderful and all thanks to our lead @skumar83 for making it joyable for all of us.

Regarding the things you mentiond I do agree we all must abide by the rules set by Lead and all other senior members. Incidents do happen on tarmac, on sand or in life as well and we must face them gracefully. Which I believe I did as I never raised any concerns or started dragging the issue and admitted that mistake did happen from my side at spot though I could have started a debate but which I did not and gave you all the options to indemnify your loss as well e.g ( Police Report, Fixing the panel from the people I know to make sure the job is fone properly and cost effectively). But you stuck to one thing and remained stuck with it and you have all the rights as well.

The best legal way to sort out the matter was and is to go to police and register it to claim the damages from insurance and without any heaitation I take the blame so you do not have to worry because when I took my car in desert I was well aware things might go wrong anytime. And regarding ajman garages or dubai garage believe me its not about city or place its all about knowing right people and getting work done in proper manner and the same was conveyed to you over whatsapp.

Still I do regret what happened and my sincere apologies for that.

Hi Guys, based on the response on the drive thread, the level of the drive would be lowered to Newbie+ level. This is not a drive for absolute Newbies as it will be important to read the sand and maintain the right throttle response in certain areas. So @BilalAhmad, @ace1988, @G.huz the field is open for you to join the drive. Please RSVP the calendar event.

Thanks @skumar83 for lowering the level of ride and allowing us to be the part of this drive.

Will wait to see if lead can lower the level to newbie + as I can vouch for you from your previous drive.

I really appreciate your support and confidence in me driving to newbie+ @Gaurav

I really appreciate this help by the way. Hopefully I can pay you back one day if you have car troubles.

I am assuming that System->Preferences->Sound and go to Hardware it's not showing anything at all.

1: If its not showing then you must try this command:

    sudo aptitude -y purge alsa-base && sudo aptitude -y install ubuntu-desktop

this will reset the entire sound card settings and reload. It always worked for me and hopefully will work for you.

2: If in settings your output device is listed or showing dummy output as you stated earlier  then use below commands:

     Step 1: sudo alsa force-reload

It will take couple of seconds to finish this command.

Once its done reboot. Try to check if its working now perfect you do not have to proceed to step 2 or 3, but if it did not then proceed to step 2 and so on.

Step 2: sudo apt-get remove --purge alsa-base pulseaudio
     Step 3: sudo apt-get install alsa-base pulseaudio

Last and final command : pulseaudio --start

waiting for the results now :(  :(   fingers crossed......

You do not have to pay back as we are member of one family so it absolutely fine :) though I will disturb you a lot for my car :P  :P

    Thanks for appreciating :)

Ok I ran, inxi - Fxz

inxi wasn't installed so i ran, sudo apt install inxi then rebooted

When I go into sound settings, sound is being played through dummy output

Then I tried, sudo alsa reload

    barry@barry-VGN-CS26G-R:~$ sudo alsa reload
    [sudo] password for barry:
Unloading ALSA sound driver modules: (none loaded).
Loading ALSA sound driver modules: (none to reload).

So I'm thinking alsa isn't properly installed?

After installing it you must run the command again to see your hardware list. It will show you if system has any sound card attached to it or not, and even dummy sound outputs as well.

The result will look something similar to this:

Currently using Linux on an old laptop I revived, Ubuntu 16.04.

I love it. Beats the hell out of Windows or iOS. So much

    But, I have a problem.

I have tried everything I know but I can't get it to recognise the sound card. All sounds are being sent to dummy output.

Is there anything I can do to test if the card is faulty?

Go to terminal and copy - paste the below command and share the screenshot.

    inxi -Fxz

To be honest Bilal, you have managed very well as a newbie and it doesn't really look like as if it was your first attempt in the sand. We have seen many newbies breaking the bumpers even after all the briefing and guidance, so keep it up.

Hope, driveshaft mounting isn't a big deal issue...?

Thank you very much for your appreciation and yes it was my first time but I was with Offroad Eagles :) .

Allhumdulillah it was just the mounting as usual . Got it fixed @shadow79.

  10. How much did you enjoy your first drive?

Cannot explain in words. It was really something I wanted learn for a long long time. And with Carnity my long awaited Dream Came True. Not a club but the best family of off-roaders.

What did you enjoy about the drive?

The convoy management, different levels of drive and The ultimate guide to keep momentum.

Which part of the drive you think you enjoyed the best which you would like to repeat?

The whole experience was amazing and definitely looking forward to join another available ride for my level determined by the Lead.

Do you think there was a good mix of lecture and practical, was the lecture too long, and any part that can be avoided or done in a shorter or different way? Do you think anything else could be added to the lecture?

Briefing was perfect. All the questions were answered.

Do you think prior reading material would help?

I have watched many tutorials and read many articles but when I got initial Briefing of the drive by the Lead that was the moment for my actual understanding. So a big NO!!!

Would you know where on the Carnity forum you would be able to find the information you are looking for?

    Its very easy to navigate.

Is there anything you think could be done in a better way?

to my experience not at all. Whatever and how it is ... its perfect.

How do you think you can progress within the current atmosphere and learning opportunities provided?

I just did one ride with group and gained a lot of confidence, for sure If i keep on following with this group and the opportunities provided i will be a good, confident off-roader.

  11. Finally a good day has ended.

It was an amazing experience for me and always felt like I am surrounded by elder brothers. Special thanks to all for such a warm welcome and letting me explore desert in a very safe way.
