  1. Hi Everybody,

Can anybody suggest a reliable workshop in Al Quoz area for my 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer? I'm looking for a place to do regular maintenance works, some small enhancements & upgrades etc...

After almost 10 drives in the desert, I am happy with the performance of the car. But since it's an old car, some features are not working such as powered window, side mirror adjustments, water pump of wipers etc... I'm thinking to do these ehancements gradually along with the regular maintenance works.

Last but not the least, I don't want to spend a fortune on these works like every human being :)

Bushranger is reliable and seems rated from your image.

Ramy is not a brand, instead a shop that sells thousand brand product. Dig deeper and find out which brand pin is that? Is it rated? Why ACE doesn't have the bushranger pin....?

Ace has these options. I wasn’t so sure about the multi size option so I thought I can try Ramy and went there.. Is Reese Ok to use?

MMI or BARACUDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA are still open!!!!!

My wife found a website while searching some information about Corona virus and how it was in Dubai at that time. To do that she typed "Corona" and "Dubai" to Google. Eureka!

It was in the early days of Corona. Now you need to add one more filter word -beer- to Google as virus Corona gets more click than this website... No need to go MMI or Eurostar Cellar 😀

Congrats on being the first Subaru driver here in the club (as far as I know). Have a look if you can switch off all traction aids as we know they mostly interfere with desert driving.
    see you on Friday !

That’s very interesting. Im curious about how will it handle desert as Subaru is confident with it’s symmetrical AWB. Wish I could be there in the morning drive to see it.

I don’t know if XV has it but X-mode  could be a B plan as well.

@Denizzalbayrak has given up the Koleos for 4x4 moments as the new drive took everything with ease.

When driving with Koleos, one of the concern was to get maximum power that small engine will provide before approaching a hill and the other one was not get stopped buy electronics. Because they kick back in over  55km/h speed. The role of electronics can be summarized with a quote from Gandalf,  “You shall not pass”

Trailblazer undoubtedly is a powerfull car. But dealing with weight needs completely a different study.

  6. I wish I started driving with you when you first saved me from my stuck @Gaurav 😀 I feel upset for the time I lost since then.

@Srikumar, @Rahimdad and @Frederic thank you for all the drives that you led so far. I learned a lot from you. Looking forward to learn more and exciting things on this level.

Special thanks to @sertac as well. He is a great friend and helps a lot. Furthermore I have to admit that I use his expenses on the car to justify mines when my wife asks 😋😀 He is a sort of partner in crime.

Thank you @Michael sammy, @Chirag S., @Emmanuel and @Wrangeld! See you guys in new challanges.

To self check if clutch fan is still working on variable speed: when you start the vehicle after a long break (cold start) does clutch fan engage fully and make loud gushing noise, that get settle after 15-30 seconds when RPM drops? If not, then for sure clucth need some immediate attention.

Yes the fan works on variable speed (High speed on cold start then slows down ). In that case I believe the issue is with the sensor.

EVAP fault will be easy to find with a smoke machine but as @Gaurav says, check the fuel cap first.

I've checked this and fuel cap does not lock itself.

Thank you @Gaurav and @Barry for your advices.

  8. Hello everyone,

I bought and Japan spec 2003 Trailblazer with 4,2 V6 engine recently. Yesterday check engine light turned on. In Autopro they checked with computer and diagnosed with P0440 and P1481 codes. Is it something to worry about or expensive to fix? I checked on the web, it seems these codes are common for these models but still don't know if it is expensive or not. Can anyone guide me?

    TRIP REPORT

This foggy morning reminded me a bit of the winter season in my home country Belgium, so when I left the house I was a bit worried that the fog would remain for the whole morning.

I was delighted to see most people made it on time, with @Tbone being the winner as he arrived shortly after me. Some came a bit later due to the fog, but these things happen and we need to keep safe in traffic.

This was my first ever briefing so I hope i kept it a bit interesting and I heartfully thank the others that stepped in to help to complete and detail on some points.

Also this was the first time we started using 3 different frequencies for the separate convoys. We will come back soon with more updates on that as it still needs improvement.

After having split up the convoys in two newbie convoys led by @Rahimdad and me, and one slightly more thrilling newbie+ convoy led by @Gaurav, we hit the dunes and started enjoying the beautiful area.

@balaji0007 was my second lead and I was really impressed in his calm and composed driving and clear communication.

@Denizzalbayrak aka Koleos managed well, so as @Jun Zamora with his Murano. These AWD vehicles unfortunately possess lots of electronical gizmos so I can imagine it’s not always easy to unlock the full power. The next coming months with dryer sand coming up this might become even more challenging.

Francesco and his 3.8 Pajero, the Wranglers @Rinelle Sanaani @Colin Jordan @Febin Frederic , @Ahmedmustafa90 his Xterra, were all driving great with their capable cars and with @Javier M as our center key player and @Wrangeld and @Jeepie in the sweep, i was surely in good company.

The tow rope stayed in the car, only some small refusals kept us a bit busy and at the same time we got to learn something. Again thanks for Richard, Rahim and others who were at the top helping out @Jun Zamora and a special thanks to @Javier M to lead him around the mountain.

My apologies for not having the proper place and time to do a full debriefing and feedback session after the drive, we lost a bit of time climbing over Fossil Rock. We will make that up on the next drives.

I thank you all for joining us on this beautiful morning and hope to see you all back soon !

Special thanks to @Frederic, @Javier M, @Wrangeldand @Jeepie for their instructions and help in my refusal. Koleos is still in one piece and getting washed now :)

Coming down from the Fossil Rock was amazing! It is getting more exciting and more challenging  every week which is good.

    See you all next week!
