Morning Intermediate Desert Drive - Sweihan, Abu Dhabi - 18 Nov 2023

DRIVE PLAN

It's going to be a typical "Sweihan Drive", drive tall, drive fast, drive quick. This is my first time at the front here. Request every member that joins this drive to go through the information below and strictly follow these guidelines, etiquette, and responsibilities.

DRIVE DETAILS

• Level:  Intermediate and above
• When: 18 Nov 2023, Saturday
• Meeting time:  6:45 AM (we will leave at 7:00 am)
• Meeting Point: https://maps.app.goo.gl/xY6aK4cDazQQ8Ufh6
• Approximate finish time: 9:45AM
• Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 8-10 inches of ground clearance.
• What to bring along: Loads of water, snacks (for yourself), smiles, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn.

MANDATORY OFF-ROAD GEAR:

• Tire deflator & Tire pressure gauge
• Compressor
• Walkie-talkie radio
• Off-road flag
• Shovel, Tow Rope & 2 Shackles
• First-aid kit
• Fire extinguisher

LIMITED SPOTS AVAILABLE

• This drive is limited to 10 cars only. RSVP will close on Friday
• If the RSVP is full, you can add your name to the waitlist, once anyone drops, you will be moved to the RSVP list.
• RSVP will close a day prior to preparing a convoy list.
• Latecomers will be returned - Without any exceptions.
• Members without RSVP will be returned - Without any exceptions.
• Please withdraw your RSVP, if you aren't joining, so your spot can be taken by others.
• Repeated no-show members after RSVP will have their account suspended for a month.

Hi @Looper, I guess you are busy running your optimization algo's to find the optimal desert route to get the most points for the least km's. While the computer is humming running all the permutations and combinations, are you still planning the drive tomorrow? Still keen to go.. Do let us know.

Thanks @Gertjan, @Sunil Mathew & @Pacific to join the drive. For what’s worth, we drove in a leisurely manner taking a lot of breaks but we drove fast.

The initial section was fantastic in Sweihan Area… … even the approach to Nagra Hill was pretty good but the Nagra Hill itself is trash. So much trash around the area plus every square inch of the hill is double and triple crossed by tracks and it was quite a disappointment to drive on the hill.

Having said that we drove a fantastic 72+ km in 2 and half hours including most tall dunes in the sweihan area. It was a fantastic practice for me for tomorrow’s #DCT23

Still managed to get a few picktures. Clearly the hands were on the steering and not the snapper for this trip.

Short convoy, but enjoyed to the fullest.
