This time the plan is to start from the eastern side (E95), discover new sets of dunes, say Hi to Nagrah hill and, if time allows, exit near Sweihan (on E16). Maybe our last chance before summer to enjoy a full day drive... Drive Level : intermediate and above When : 15th March 2019. Hi Guys, Just a quick message. I will be desert recovery for Saluki Motorsport for Friday and Saturdays Dubai Baja. We are running 2x buggies and 1x UTV Anyone interested should take a look should check out the website http://www.dubaiinternationalbaja.com/ Its not the best organized website, but there is maps and guides on there. Our first Buggy leaves Dubai Autodrome at 7AM SHARP , so any early birds outt there can come to Autodrome, then follow the cars out to Al Qudra ( near the solar farm) I will be in the Saluki Team Nissan Patrol.. It is a 200KM set of loops in a figure 8 each day. Opening Ceremony is tonight at 6pm Sharp at Autodrome Cheers All James

None. Fun in the desert but in reality you will only go to the desert at the weekend. A high powered rwd car will offer fun every day of the week.

So it all started on one fine morning. As a normal day started of with unlocking our Pajero and found some water drops on the seat. No rain that day, but still checked for roof leaks and found none. Maybe the leather sweating? But have not seen drops, if something spills it would cover much larger area. So we cleaned the water drops and continued on pur way. The next morning again we were surprised by the same water drops, but this time there were a few over the dash as well. The suspect was the roof again. But verily roof was dry. Still unsuspecting we cleaned the water drops and headed to our office. In the evening when my wife came to pick me up she was looking pale and scared. She explained as she opened the car she saw something white very quickly move from the passenger seat down and disappeared. She suggested we quickly go to a car wash and get the car cleaned out inside and out. Throughout the way we kept really silent and concentrated on any sounds inside the car. It was completely quiet and our hearts were racing throughout, even a breeze or our own movement would scare the he'll out of us. The strangest hour ever spent in a car in my whole life. There was a strange feeling of something or someone being in our car with us. I kept on thinking we would need an exorsist for our car instead of just a good wash. Finally we made it to the car wash and started emptying the car to have a good vacuum inside. As we were removing the items from our car we saw what once again proved the wife is always right. We needed a good wash and no exorcism was required. A grey mouse jumping in and around our car. What a relief. Tried chasing it out, but not quite sure if that little rodent was still there or gone. As the car was finished and we headed home, we decided to make sure and got some rat glue with mat. My wife could not take the suspense and headed back down to the car just before going to sleep. No surprise there it was the trouble maker, stuck in one of the mats we had placed. She took help of one of the supermarket guys and released the little rodent back in the open. With a few mats still in the car just to make sure, in 2 more days we were relieved and now pondering how he got in. Two days it was in there without making a noise. We recalled going to the tire shop to get a tire checked which kept looking the pressure. We had switched off the car, and since the car was getting suffocating, she opened the rear door for ventilation. The tire just had a bad valve which was replaced, easy and cheap fix, but it must have given the mouse to get into the car in those 15 minutes. My advise, please do not leave your cars open and unattended open the window a crack if required. Thinking of getting all the wirings and electrics checked as mice like to chew on stuff. Please recommend any other advise you deem right in such a situation, or simply share your strange stories here.

The most important question here is.. Which 4x4 from all the listed above is worth breaking your bank for. When you do things for the love it, money is hardly a factor. So all you enthusiasts and dune lovers why dont you list your fav 4x4 (only one) for which you are ready to bleed from everywhere and yet not ready to sell it for any price( if wife/gf allows i.e .) . I am sure everyone has or have had such a car with whom it was very hard to depart... and you remember every drive in that car and the pleasure it gave inspite of all its error signs and leaks.

@Gaurav I see your point and understand and accept it. I know lots of people who live for the desert on Friday, I know lots of people who live for laps around a track on Friday. It’s just different horses for different courses. We’re all brothers and sisters united in the love for the internal combustion engine. Brothers and sisters fight sometimes but we will always be family. ❤️

For me it has to be my manual XJ. Be it daily driving or for desert driving. Love it and wish I had some more money to spend on it. Hopefully one day.

I have been on both sides buddy. Having Ford Mustang GT 5.0 and going to office daily but still, I prefer my Pajero over Mustang or even my Range with a blink of an eye. Having a fast road car is limited fun with so many monkeys around and radar. Having a capable offroad ride gives you actual freedom to go anywhere and do anything anytime.

It's a 2C7B and not 267B - mistake in hand written code. It's a DME fault 2C7B Lambda probe behind catalytic converter, signal Remove the rear O2's and if they are cover with carbon, clean them up and that can sort this 2C7B code. Worst case scenario replace sensor. For DSC Fault 5E18: Engine management code my 90% doubt is throttle valve actuator. To be honest if gear is failing you will feel lot more than just shutting down on low rpm, like jittery gear shift, lack of power, delay in down/up shift etc. It seems a mechanical glicth to me when have you replaced the spark plug and coil? they could be culprit too before hitting the expensive part, fix or double check the basics Is the engine management light is on? or any other light code is shown on display? Also research more online forums and read about nasty BMW relays that throws many diff faults coz of one relay failure, it could be that issue too. let me know what you ind, im happy to help

My first car was Land Cruiser 2002 model. Loved the car due to its classic "GCC looks" as well as massive power from 4.4 Liter fuel hungry V6 engine. Had some issues with the wiring and some electrical stuff so had to sell-off just two months from purchase date.

OMG, this is a serious amateur recovery scenario: I think they tied a tow rope to bumper than a tow hook as Ford hooks are not so bad that they melt like a foam Guy too close would have injured badly or killed even if the red pickup tow point failed Should have dug out in front of wheels, as they are 80% inside the sand making recovering terribly difficult If he suspects soft sand on the beach, could have made a path firm by reversing and going forward a few times so that he can give multiple tugs on compact sand with slow speed Always start with a gentle tug first and then build the tug intensity after 3-4 attempts (if needed)

There used to be a mouse in a warehouse I worked in here. The other guys used torment it, chasing it, trying to kill it, they even cut a hole in the wall to find his nest. I felt bad for the little thing, he wasn’t hurting anyone, so I used to leave some food at the entry to his hole every night after work, he seemed to love popcorn. Then a stray cat started coming around the workshop and the guys started feeding it every day. That was the last I seen of the mouse. Had a mouse in my house in Ireland before too. I don’t believe in killing an animal unless it’s trying to kill you or you’re going to eat it. So I started feeding him bits and pieces too. Life’s a struggle for everyone. Got semi tame in the end and used to sit at my feet. I remember my mother freaking out about mice in the house before when I was a kid and putting out glue traps to catch them. I used to have to check the glue traps and sometimes I would find a mouse stuck to one still alive and felt bad for them. You can release them from the glue if you run oil on them so that’s what I would do then set them free outside. Mice are cute little creatures and incredibly smart. And if it wasn’t for mice, our medicines wouldn’t be at the advanced stage they are now.

People with more money than sense always tend to buy new, do all their services at the dealer and sell the car back to the dealer when they’re done to buy the latest model to keep up with the Joneses. People like that are easy pickings for the dealer.
