Thanks for the lovely trip report. I, Saleem and Jaleel went on Friday evening with half working tire rod end and link rod compiled from used parts lying in saleem garage. This made it fine to exit and drive back home. Just ordered the new ones now and also the set of all rear bushing, as one of them is making little clack clack in dunes. So hopefully will get everything sorted within this week.

I don't clean my car, no use, it gets dirty again.

Low oil pressure will illuminate the warning light regardless of whether you are in Drive or Reverse. I agree with @desertdude, this is more like to be a ground or wiring issue than anything else.

Could be the oil pump going out. Low oil pressure could be the cause. Or a ground issue on the oil level or pressure sensor

After yesterday's drive while coming out to tarmac, I experienced little intermittent blinking of engine oil and realized that its time to top up. After coming out I topped up the engine oil to MAX level which was earlier close to MIN level but in safe zone. Then after topping up still engine oil light was blinking on highway, so pulled over and Jalil checked if oil is coming to lifters from engine oil cap and it was all fine. After one day cool off, just started the car and now its no longer blinking but more of a constant light in D and no light in reverse. Any idea what is happening and how we can fix this.....?

Brilliant ! makes me remember my father in law who used to see me washing my car every weekend and would look at me saying “will the car go faster now ?” He drove his Ford Sierra for 20years and never washed it, the rain kept it clean. As he was keeping horses you can imagine how dirty it was. People in the town were talking negative about it cuz he was the school principal but he couldn’t care less 😂

Sorry dude, this was over 10+ year story now and you might be right at that time but not with Patrol weight. @Adel Muradov there is no doubt you have very capable 4x4 but due to its pedigree now mixed with luxury+mall crawler audience and that makes it very heavy, more electronically controlled gizmos, computers, sensors. Patrol Y62 will always find it difficult to catch up on extreme drives like the one you just mentioned. However that gap is very marginal - if you hone your offroad skills like if FJC can do 100, then your Patrol can match upto 80-90 in capable hands. So don't worry too much about that level and little gap IMHO, first focus on learning and "practicing" the basics without breaking your 4x4, rest all will follow. On the contrary, for being a good offroader you need slightly underpower 4x4 than desert toy that can take you anywhere with a touch of throttle. You won't learn real offroading that way.

That's flickering more than blinking. Looks like an electrical issue. Get your hands on an electrical wiring diagram, clean the grounds, connectors, look for any crimps or frayed wiring. If nothing then one of the oil sensors could be shorting out. Check them with a multimeter. First do a Desi test by wiggling the wires of both the sensors, see if it makes a difference. Then unplug and clean the both sides of the connectors with some electrical or brake cleaner spray. NOT WD40. So on and so forth, starting with the most easiest and cheapest fix and working your way down.

🤔 I would do this in this order.. Change the oil pressure sensor. Change the oil and change the oil filter (oil filter might be clogged) Im sure any shop can do an oil pressure test, I would do this before considering the changing the oil pump.

Leaving the garage so I need to find a new home for shop cat. Shes a 6 month old Arabian Mau. Answers to the name of “shop cat”. Super friendly and loves to play, loves pets and cuddles. Loves to sit under the air conditioner, doesn’t like being out in the heat. Semi toilet trained, will only poop and pee in sand, she won’t make a mess on a floor. I would love to take her home but wife is allergic to cats and I don’t want to leave and abandon shop cat. It’s a tough life for cats in Al Quoz so I’d like to find a good home for her, someone stable who can take care of her. If you’re interested in adopting the most lovable kitten ever, let me know.

I believe it will be mentioned on Omani Visa. Last time when we cross over it was mentioned Khatmat Malaha Border only for one our our visitor. Im not sure if they can pass thru others when it is mentioned on visa itself.

I have done the Dubai:Oman drive a few times. It has never went smoothly. I always had problems. Dubai/Oman return flight is around 600 dhs with Emirates and you get a free meal.

Sounds more like a bad coil to me. Does the DTC flash when it's rough? Disconnect one coil at a time when running rough to see if there are any changes. If you take out a coil and there is no change means that coil is knackered. Or try using a simple obdii scanner one can be had off amazon for 20dhs. Also disconnect the MAF when idling rough. If it gets better means MAF has taken a dive. Plugs will in majority of the the cases not cause intermittent problems.

Posting some pics of the kitten might help others decide.

Mix ATF and acetone (nail polish remover) 50/50 and pour it on the threads every day for a week. It will soak into the threads though capillary action and make them easier to remove. But you need to give it time. It’s not an overnight thing. Keep repeating. Doing it on a warm engine will help. If you’re using a spark plug socket, take the rubber insert out. I don’t know how, I don’t know why, but when you use the insert, there is a higher chance of breaking the plug. An old mechanic told me this years ago and from my experience he was right. Use a regular socket. When it’s loose, use a magnet to lift the plug out. Screw extractors, also known as Ezee Outs serve a purpose but you have to be careful using them. They are made of extremely hard metal, therefore extremely brittle. They are harder than drill bits so if you break a screw extractor it’s not just a matter of drilling it out. Are you sure it’s a spark plug problem? Speed is irrelevant. Bad plugs will cause a misfire under load, ie when you are holding the throttle down and trying to accelerate. If you want to drop by the shop I’ll take a look at it for you, FOC.

Trip Report - @shadow79 coming to a drive and it goes without hiccups, never gonna happen. Being a busy Thursday I was glad to leave office on time. But the universe was already in action knowing @shadow79 was on hos way too. My car started hiccups so I would momentarily loose power and back again. So forget about any rest, dropped my wife home and headed to his garage. After 40 minutes of sweat and hard work it seemed better. Headed home again to pick up my stuff and on to the meeting point. I was the first one to reach and after consultation with the car doctor decided to take my vehicle any ways. After deflation and a brief we headed in but close to the road to be on the safe side. We had 2 long climbs and I missed out on both of them and couldn't manage to reach the top. At this point I felt that I was totally off my game, and the throttle seemed to be high as well. After a quick reset which had no effect we headed in deeper. At one of these points I felt the race had gone normal and everything seemed smooth. The convoy was also moving well and we were thoroughly enjoying what the area had to offer. Playing through some wonderful but challenging dunes, we reached the Super Bowl. At this point we all decided to take rest and fill up with some nice food and a refreshing cup of tea. After the rest with the sun about to come out we headed towards the Iftar Bowl. These dunes are really nice for playing and keep you engaged throughout. We were not even half way through when we heard @Gaurav bhai on the radio that something strange was happening with his car. Unfortunately the tire rod end had broken, but luckily he was on a small dune. After taking out the tire rod end we backed up the Pajero on to a slightly straight ground. We had to leave her behind and @Gaurav bhai rode with me. With a little play still left due to awesome dunes we exited the area, inflated and headed back home. My car trouble also started again but reach both of us home. Thanks to @Javier M for the second lead. Since I was not there for the second part of recovering the Pajero I will let @Gaurav bhai tell you the rest of the story. My pics have been uploaded on the gallery.

Hi, guys! Just want to share my experience with you, it might be helpful for somebody. These days you can notice tons of LED light bulbs designed to replace conventional halogen light bulbs. First of all, I have some doubts that it is legal. If you are ok with it, you might want to install them because they are so bright! First type. A lot of LEDs on all sides of the light bulb. Looks great, but almost useless. The light is blinding fellow drivers but the road is not lit well. Second type. Two big LED chips on both sides of the bulb. It is a bit better but still it lights everything around and not the road. Third type. Three tiny chips on both sides of the bulb. It is almost perfect. In reflector type headlights it is not ideal, in lens type headlights should be good with descent border between light and shade on the road. Quality of the light bulb and precision of LED chips placement plays a big role here. Forth. A-Brand light bulb. Almost perfect in most of situations but considerably more expensive. General rule. The smaller LED chip, the better shape of the light. It is like that because conventional lights are designed to focus light from tiny halogen light, thus, position and size of LED chip should be as close to position and size of halogen light bulb as possible. My experience. I bought my car with second-type bulbs installed in high-beam lights. Well, for high-beam it was not that bad, for dimmed light it was not suitable at all. I decided to change it to something better. I bought third-type light bulbs for High-beam, dimmed and fog lights. Some with active cooling (with fan), some with passive (just radiator). After several months, one active-cooling light bulb failed in dimmed head light, the rest is still fine including passive-cooling fog-lights which I use a lot. After the failure, I decided to buy Philips light bulb to install them into dimmed headlight. Generally, LED light bulbs are bright. Not as bright as Xenon lights but still way brighter than halogen light bulbs. I'm satisfied with performance of lights and, important, its price. It is a significant improvement for a reasonable price!

Looking at the flickering behavior, i would say it's the sensor itself or the wiring. I think the sensor order number for a Gen2 Pajero is MD092660, but not completely sure on your model as it's a 3.5 and more rare.

I am using this same oil since 8 years without any issues and on the contrary, every time I changed engine oil some disaster happen from knocking noise to busted engine. Even the habtoor lukoil also failed after 3-4 offroad drive and started producing loud knocking after 1000 kms, changed back to Mobil 1 - 0W40 - everything went straight. So I am sorry, I wont change the engine oil.

Go-to any automotive paint shop and give them your colour code. For a perfect take a sample, like the fuel door flap. In 5 minutes he will mix you up a batch

I turned down a 1995 range Rover classic the only year it came with a soft dash for 5k and another time a 1988 Merc 560SEC for 7k now both cars going between 20-40k and above depending on year and condition. Also saw the Porsche built Merc 400E was it ? Going for 15

Doing work on own car ain't gonna pay bills you see so I have to make do with whatever I got and always cross my fingers that it lasts for awhile but doing work for my customers I have to keep in mind that they don't have any expertise so I have to make it proper so it lasts...

Not only any skiming you have to get it done from someone who is really good at it...I have had the pleasure of getting it done right in few trys...

Go for the obvious first. vibes under braking 9.5 times out of 10 means warped discs. If they are thick enough you can have them skimmed, or of they are cheap enough get a set of new ones.

Does anyone know the process of registering a trailer in uae? What documents etc are required? Or where I can find information? Airstream type caravan trailer.

i hae registered for a flat bed trailer for my company. For that the documents needed are : 1. Company License 2. TC Number 3. Insurance is not required. However I think the head unit would need the insurance which covers the trailer as well. 4. Authorised Signatory presence or POA 5. Company stamp 6. Passing certificate If it's on an individual name, you need to replace the Company License with EID. Also carry copies of all the documents

You need to state engine size too instead of just the models. These models are all available with different engine sizes. Smaller engines generally give better mileage. I don't usually recommend other forums but google honest John real world mpg. They have real world mileage from real owners.

I believe Carswitch is good service. I bought my last car from their website. It is very good for buyer to see the inspection before buying. They are checking everything you need. They are putting picture from every scratch and every dent on the car. The owner of car paid them 2100AED for their service.

You can macguyver your pants belt and use it. I prefer the 3 legged style. I find it a lot less hassle.
