DRIVE RSVP IS NOW CLOSED I hope by now you guys are preparing your vehicles, checking the oil levels, filling up the jerry-can, and getting the much needed rest. Although I see some are still doing a morning drive tomorrow (hats off to that).. Its about a 3,5 hour drive from Dubai (depending where you live) and I hope you take enough rest beforehand and come prepared for a day full of amazing adventures which will amaze you, but will be tiring and demanding as well. The LIWA desert can be unforgiving and we will need to work together as a team to get the convoy moving. I will stress on the fact that your radios should be fully charged, shovels, flags and a compressor are an absolute necessity, and your vehicle gas tank should be full upon your arrival with the extra 20L jerrycan with you. I would also highly advise you to wear protective clothing, closed shoes, and a cap to protect you during this long day. The COVID rules as we are applying them on our weekly drives are valid in LIWA as well. We will be having two convoys, of which @Asif Hussain will be leading the first convoy, and I will be leading the second. For the ones who have not met Asif yet, he has been with Carnity from the early days and his work behind the screens and his amazing drives he is organizing in Abu-Dhabi every week shows his commitment and amazing amount of skills to choose the right tracks and lead convoys through this challenging terrain. Japan Allah khair @Mohamed Seidam. Liwa is a terrain which demands total respect, concentration and to push ourselves and our vehicles to extremes. We need every prayer and good wishes from brothers and sisters like you. We will miss physically anybody who is unable to make it to Luwa. But rest assured there will be plenty of buzz, pics and stories to come out after we return. Insha Allah with the popular demand and good weather we would definitely love to arrange a few more such events before the weather takes a turn towards heat.

Please make sure you arrive few min earlier and prep up so that we can leave on time. Deflate your tires to 12 PSI for All Terrain tires and 14 PSI for all other tires and flag up (Please make sure you have a flag and a pole for it). We will used Chanel 1 for Radio coms, I assume all have a radio as I do not carry spare radios with me. If no Radio and flag means you cannot join the drive. @Jon M will be 2nd lead, @Rizwanm2 will be center forward and assist in recoveries if any, @Shaaz Sha will sweep. See you tomorrow

Thank you @Frederic for all the hard work and constantly reminders and advises it’s much appreciated also great to know about the carful setup with amazing leaders. We are also ready and done with spare tire, Jerrycan, servicing the car and the Covid test so hopefully will get the result soon and God willing will be on our way tomorrow. See you 🔜 in Liwa.

Trip Report: The drive with the most drop outs So how did my morning start. Terrible in one word. @Shamil could make it due to fever, better safe than sorry. @Gaurav Soni went to the wrong meeting point, fortunately he was on @Gaurav bhai drive who was also doing a newbie drive and allowed him to join. Finally I had to send back @Hisham Masaad as he did not have a radio and we did not have a spare set. After everyone deflated and after the quick brief we rearranged the convoy and were on our way. At this point my day started getting better as the convoy I had on the day was funtastic. We had loads of fun as we played around and had some play time with some sides. Everybody managed well and showed good steering and throttle control. We reached Fossil Rock within no time but since the descent was terrible we just took a detour from the side and headed towards Faya. As we played around reaching Faya almost all the way from the back side. I say almost as I was reminded that the convoy I was leading was a Newbie convoy. You can just imagine my joy to see Newbies cope so well. My heartfelt thanks to @Rizwan Waheed for being an excellent second lead. Also my thanks to @Atif bhai for being an excellent centre forward. Special thanks to @Pickey Singh for being an excellent sweep and not only keeping the whole convoy together but keeping me updated regularly on the convoy movement. @Syed Raza Hussain was at his best, however I do feel sorry for a struggling shouting Pajero. @ALI ALMOUMAR impressed me with his all powerful Prado a smile which pushed me beyond the Newbie level. A good word from him is what made me realise its a Newbie group. @Luca Bregni enthusiasm was so infectious to add extra power to the whole group. His control of his Wrangler showed in both steering and throttle as he conquered the area with ease. @Aravind Padmaraju with his Xperia showed us his talent and all that he has learned with full competence. @Ken Hüüdma with his Patrol seemed like he's meant for this sport as I enjoyed watching him handle his Y62 so well. @Federico De Chirico with his 3.8 Pajero managed the drive with both steering and throttle control giving me confidence in his level of drive. Always a pleasure to watch @Shyam Karat handling his Wrangler limo Unlimited. Great inspiration to watch him go through the dunes as if we are driving on Sheikh Zayed Road. @Arun Mathew with his Wrangler just reinforced the strength of the Wrangler crew without any sticks or refusals. In conclusion what started for me as a somewhat terrible day turned out to be one of the most enjoyable days. All thanks to the people on the drive. Going beyond their capacity and pushing themselves and supporting each other to make it another wonderful day out.

Veni, Blitzi, Vici (We came, we blitzed, we won) 😉 - Ganthoot Blitz Drive Report Dear Desertnauts, thank you all very much for giving me the opportunity to lead of then most fun drives I had lately. Everything worked perfectly on this drive. The early start, with the first light barely breaking the horizon, the brisk and safe crossing of the technical entry area just as the sun came up, navigating an alternation of virgin long range dunes and tighter technical dunes, the impromptu decision to extend the drive to the south-west, toward an inviting succession of playable dunes (with plenty of ridge-riding, criss-crossing, and side-sloping opportunities), and finally the trip back up toward Bab al Shams, with a bonus ride toward Solar Park's exit. The most tangible sign that all drivers were doing great, and fully enjoying the drive (or so I wish to believe), was a very conspicuous radio silence, which persisted almost until we reached our turning point, on the border with Ganthoot's laborers' camps. Virtually no refusals, and only one stuck toward the end, testify the drivers' brilliant performance. And what a pleasure driving in a virtually untouched territory, where the few tracks visible on the ground, in places, were the ones left from our previous recce drive, just a week back, and those of some campers' close to Solar Park. As usual in these type of intermediate drives, we drove without a convoy's Center Forward, so that all members may be responsible for supporting the car either in front or behind. This insured that the few refusals were speedily overcome, and virtually all drivers were involved in the each other's recoveries (and the single tug). A collective "bravo" to @Luca Palanca Falsini (thank you for the precise Second Lead), @Mehmet Volga, @Tero Vallas, @Nabil Bishara, @marks, @Heisem, @Kailas, @Alexander Alcala and @Pancho (provider of a clean Sweep): the Blitz covered 83Km, in 3 hours of driving (3:43 including stops), at an average speed of 22Km/h (and 28Km/h while in moving), with a cumulative climb of 603 meters (going from a minimum altitude of 30m to a maximum of 81m). Looking forward to seeing you soon in the sand, I wish you a great, super short, week.

@Zed Alhamdulellah . First of all thank God that you are good . For the lapse in memory this is normal after the shock and gradually it will resolve God Well. I agree about all what have been said previously and nothing much to add except one thing , simulation to what has happened . Please if you allow me to paste a clip here that might be of analogue but in low speed at newbie level . This might help you remember and in slow motion where was the problem In my humble opinion this what I think : normally we are following the car in front , when the Jeep suddenly deviated your eyes followed the Jeep consequently your reaction would put the input to follow. Apparently you felt you are to close to it and wanted to steer bit later to avoid it and that’s why there was slowing down which created fish tail which needed more acceleration and more to left steering to correct. This particular step came late and the flipping already had begun as the front wheels were not aligned with the direction of the momentum. Mohamed

But using your tailgate as Carnity Cafe takes me to the good old pre-covid days and bring a warm smile. I'm glad I got to meet you this Friday, such a relief knowing that you're supporting my drive.

Just an update for all - I entered abu dhabi today with my family and with my DPI test result in hand it was about a 30 min queue at the border to be allowed in. Just needed to show the text message from my phone and my wife’s phone and that was it. I suspect that from tomorrow onwards the lines will be much longer. Drive safely Carnity-ers, and see you on Wed morning !

Just completed my DPI test at Sharjah National Screening Center. Update from here is that there is a separate line for those who have not taken and appointment. So if you have not yet booked an appointment just drive down and get the DPI test done. See you in Liwa. Drive safe.

Thanks @Gaurav, I guess its finally time to step things up a notch and really put my car to test. I learnt a lot from these past newbie drives, especially under the lead of @Wrangeld, as most of my drives were under him. I also had the privilege to drive with @Rahimdad bhai a couple of times, really a down to Earth personality and superb leading skills. @Gaurav bhai’s depth of knowledge in this field helped me identify the problems that were limiting the full potential of my car, thanks again for the advices. It seems that due to the national Day holiday, a huge rush is expected at the Ghantoot testing center especially during the day time and probably till late in the evening. And so, if you dont have an appointment there will most likely not let you in. Hence, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND, everyone to do the DPI test in advance through the SEHA app at the National Screening Centers. There are no slots anymore in Dubai before few days, but you can still find some at Sharjah Shooting Club tomorrow. I am sure that none of you would want to miss the opportunity of Liwa just because of the DPI test.

Hi @Frederic thanks for your reply, with all the camping restrictions in the UAE over this holiday my plans changed..... my vehicle and evening is good to go, my DPI/ PCR test I’ll sort out tonight or tomorrow, thats all that’s required/ pending.

Wonderful drive! Thanks to @Ale Vallecchi @Luca Palanca Falsini @Pancho and all drivers for good coordination and high performance. I really enjoyed the area, especially the last part where we did long ridge ridings. The sand was a bit soft but it only made the game funnier. The good thing with @Ale Vallecchi's drives that he always discovers wilderness parts of the desert allowing us to race against gazelles!

@Zed sorry for your rollover. Is the vehicle damaged badly? Alhumdulillah that you didn’t get injured. I too felt that the speed was quite reduced before the fish-tailing started. If you did turn your stearing downwards it was already too late as there was no momentum to carry the front in the downward direction. Your point of concentration is quite valid, it only takes a few milliseconds of lapse in it for things to change. However, you are doing the right thing to evaluate what happened. The above is my point of view only so please rely on the Carnity senior member advice.
