Appreciate all the expert shovellers that surrounded me in the ditch on the rescue operation. My visitors were admiring the togetherness of all the team members. @ZakWarah @Salty3Arab Moving forward you all will be joining the Newbie drives and not an Absolute Newbie drive. Drives are announced every Sunday at 11 am, and they go live on Sunday at 7:10 pm. Due to the high demand, these drives get full in about 10 minutes, so please be online at 7:10 pm to book your spot. If you miss a spot, put your name on the waitlist asap. Generally, by Thursday with dropouts everyone does get a spot if they have waitlisted. For the next drives, please bring along a deflator, pressure gauge, flag and radio as a minimum. Learn to deflate your tires and checking them precisely. Learn to fix a flag on your car. Learn to program and fully charge your radio. Dear Desertnauts. Following the hectic race to the dues taking place every Friday, Saturday morning drives always have a relaxing, soothing atmosphere. This time we'll try to take advantage of this more tranquil day to visit a less crowded area, located between Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and Dubai, mostly marked by locals' tracks (especially at the beginning of the drive). The first part of the excursion will be among the copses of Ghaf trees that punctuate the lower, Western reaches, of the Faqa Plateau. I like to call this area "the Arboretum", due to its abundance of the national UAE tree. From here we'll scale the heart of the Faqa dunes, in a South-Easterly direction, with the goal of descending on the other side of the plateau, in another area of wide, long range dunes. After navigating the corridors between these tall, but open cordons, Inshallah we'll turn back toward the west, to cross the last stretches of Faqa's dunes, and reach an area where sabkhas and low, more technical dunes, follow each other all the way to our exit point, on the track to Solar Park. This may end up being a slightly longer Newbie drive, where we'll slow down to take all the time we need to navigate (not attack) the corridors of sand in the middle of which we'll find ourselves, and we'll speed up to cross the flat sabkhas we'll encounter on our way in and out. We'll enjoy the sunrise on the dunes, and will work out our appetite for the well deserved, Saturday lunch that will follow. Looking forward to seeing you on Saturday. Have a great week.

I don't know much about camping gear and not very fascinated with having a roof when camping outside. My only experience with camping was when I was doing my engineering @ Manipal and we had been frequently to Agumbe forest which is famous for king cobras and the perfect offroader was my Dolphin car which doesn't need any recovery gear except able hands to lift it off and we were all enthusiastic teenagers. It was fun gazing the night sky with no roof overhead and all our team drinking & singing over a camp fire. Most of them are no longer with me as they fell down in the journey of life and now only vague memories remain. By the way there was no carnity club to teach us how to and all we did was lift the car by bare hands from where we got stuck. I love to camp with friends as I have no more major responsibilities in life. Got married early and have grown up kids who are already working or have finished their graduation. Its my time again and wish to take full advantage of this time. Anybody can count me in if its raw camping.

First convoy ( intermediate ) with Legend :Gaurav The two convoys resulted in two different levels the first one lead by @Gaurav for an intermediate drive and the F+ lead by @Wrangeld in parallel with equal number of drivers each. As a result for me it was my first intermediate and it went so amazing and over my expectation in a positive way. After socially distant quick briefing by our lead we headed toward the beautiful rising sun with increasing pace till we reached the first bowl and then the second bowl and in each one every one enjoyed climbing from either side. After that we continued our journey and along we encountered a couple of refusals and stucks which gave us a chance to stretch our muscles shoveling a bit in one hand and tugging sometimes on the other hand. Thank you @Craig Finlayson for the winching activity that was really of great help. Thank you @Gaurav for the amazing adventure which was for me an epic enjoyable to the max in driving as well as in assisting helping when ever needed and appreciate your guidance during the tugging attempts I have done. thank you @Craig Finlayson for being a flawless second lead and your helping in recoveries. A Special and big thank you for @Lorenzo Candelpergher for volunteering to join the drive and keeping an eagle eye to The Whole convoy from the sweep position. @Shehab Alawadhi it was with a reason that I stopped the entire convoy and clearly explained the track that needed to be followed. All other cars made it through without any issues, so deviating from the original track can have its consequences unfortunately.

First time at Iftar Bowl and I can say it was the most complicated terrain that I have driven on; or is it how all Fewbie Plus drives go about? I guess it was probably the terrain because of the sheer amount of refusals that the drivers faced; but it only helped them improve at points where they lacked. @Wrangeld, you threw many challenges at us, which we absolutely loved and we also learned that its not just about whats packed under the hood but rather about the driver's skills. @Luca Palanca Falsini You had a lot of shepherding to do today but you managed it without breaking a sweat. (BTW, do you happen to have a V8 swapped under your hood?😂😂) @Ahab Shamaa, Initially I thought your winch was just going be sitting on your bumper, rusting, but its quite a useful tool as we saw today😂. Perhaps your investment didnt go down in vain 😂. @DANIEL NOGUEIRA Sad to see someone going through the same experience that I did a couple of weeks ago, hope it wasnt anything serious and the RAM would make it back on sand in no time. @Gaurav I was behind him and saw the hit. @Vanessa8580 was also a witness as we were the only 2 people left to climb that dune. It was a serious hit and sand was flying everywhere. In fact his whole car was immersed in sand just like water splashes when you enter a big patch. @Shehab Alawadhi tried to climb a dune from an area not attempted by anyone before and the car was moving at great speed and the front crashed into the dune as the gradient was very steep and he attempted to scale it from flat ground. It took me by surprise that sand can fly like that when hit. So even though the climb looked tempting from that angle I decided not to attempt it and followed everybody else's path. Can't blame @Shehab Alawadhi as the path was already churned up by drives before him and he thought that he will get bogged down with his heavy truck and had to try to scale the dune slightly deviating from the regular path. He is lucky that his truck withstood that massive hit and only a plastic piece got ripped.

Good day, that plastic thing cost about Dhs100 directly from Ford, ive replaced mine once already, bumped the wall at home and then hit a dune which then took it off... but generally i dont get my nose that deep into dunes to damage it and ive had about 12 desert drives now and no issues, i dont think its worth changing the bumper for that, besides it being dead cheap to replace a 2 inch lift (king/ icon/ fox) will make more sense (probably cost the same) than to change the bumper as you actually dont need it.

If you bumped that plastic part after 5-6 drives then ask yourself if this was a one-off accident of you bumping or missing some brake in time. This can and will happen to all of us and you shouldn't be thinking of changing the whole bumper because of this case (only). Get that plastic bit sorted and add 6mm - 8mm bash plate underneath as you already have a metal bumper and good clearance. The more customized stuff you get in this scenario will simply increase the weight on the nose of the car and will restrict your long hill climb in future fewbie and intermediate drives, my two cents. Customized or full metal bumper like Warn and TJM brand will add at least 40-50 kg weight in front. Maybe you can check with other Ford F150 users if they have done something for the bumper. @Francois Germishuys @Jack Thomas @Malachy McGrogan @Melenany
