When you arrive tomorrow morning, you can start deflating your tires to 15psi if you have normal/highway tires, and 12psi in case you have off-road tires. Please arrive on time 7:00 AM, earlier is even better so we can help you out with deflation if needed. We will be using Carnity Channel 1: 446.00625 Mhz. Seniors on the drive are myself, @Yousef Alimadadi, @Nitin Mohan and @Abu Muhammad who will be sweeping the convoy and we will all help you out in case of refusals, stucks, which is all part of the game (and fun) After deflating we will do a briefing to emphasize on the aspects of off-roading and the teamwork involved when becoming part of our off-road community. Since the number of cases has gone alarmingly high, I would recommend only drivers to be out for the briefing with social distancing rules. Dear Desertnauts, in preparation for the drive, here are the latest news. First, about reaching the meeting point, be advised that there will be other Carnity convoy in that very same area (along the same track), meeting for their drives. Our convoy will be the last one, in correspondence of the published meeting place. While you reach it, after turning off from the tarmac and crossing the bike track, you will pass these other Carnity convoys: do not stop, and drive all the way to our meeting point, where I should be waiting on a black Xterra. Once again, set the published meeting point on your Google Maps, follow the directions accordingly, and please join the last one of the convoys that you'll see, further into the gravel track. Secondly, once you reach the meeting point, please tune into Carnity channel #5 (462.887). Once arrived you may start deflating to 12-13 PSI, depending on your car and type of tires. DRIVE RSVP IS NOW CLOSED Please find your convoy positions below: Drive Preparation: 1. Ensure that your 4x4 is well serviced recently and all the lubes and fluids are topped up. 2. 20 Liter fuel jerry can. 3. A full fuel tank at the meeting point. Last petrol station location if you are coming from Dubai: https://goo.gl/maps/iyw9HdLXeqTKRL7x6 4. Spare tyre should be in good working condition. If not been used recently, ensure that you take it out and check the condition properly. Also ensure that you have the wrench that can be used to remove your tyre (if needed). In the past we have seen that people upgrade their tyres but still keep the the original wrench which is of no use to remove the upgraded tyre. So please ensure that your car has the right tool to remove the tyres (if needed). 5. Air compressor, proper shovel, flag, fire extinguisher, first aid kit, 6. Fully charged radio (tuned to all Carnity Frequencies) with spare battery / radio. If you have a car charger for your radio, please bring it along. 7. All traction controls, ABS and Air bags need to be switched off. If it requires pulling the fuse, please research before the drive or post your queries on this drive post or forum and our experts would assist you. 8. Car charger / battery pack for your mobile. 9. Plenty of water, approx 10 liter per person 10. Bring along your breakfast, lunch, snacks, etc in easy to eat packing. We shall be having breaks in between the drive. 11. Dry food, energy bar, cookies, nuts, crisp to munch while driving 12. Bring garbage bags along to carry your trash. Littering in the desert is strictly prohibited. All the above points are mandatory and your participation on the drive would be refused on the drive day by the trip lead if you fail to comply with the above. Note - COVID 19 Test Requirement: Covid19 Test is mandatory to enter Abu Dhabi Emirates. DPI or PCR test has to be done 48hrs before entering to Abu Dhabi. Making a separate club will mix up a lot of topics and information. As we currently have sub-categories for every brand and vehicle type already , it might be better to make to make a "essentials tutorial" for your specific vehicle, based on your own experiences, for example how to unlock and remove spare wheel, how to check the fluids, etc... In your case for example, you could post a topic here: https://carnity.com/forums/forum/410-nissan-xterra-forum-in-uae You can give it a nice name like "ESSENTIALS FOR XTERRA OWNERS" and include the basic things to look for: 1) where to check the fluids (location of the level gauges). 2) How to unlock and remove the spare wheel. 3) Differences between 2H and 4H and max speed. Thanks @Mohamed Seidam for your tips. Luckily for me, the ABS, VSC TRAC and VSC OFF warning lights are always on when I start the car, so this LC is permanently for offroad 😂😂😂

Thank you @Zed for the wonderful thread and welcome back stronger than ever. I would like to add a very important mod not mentioned along the beautiful and informative discussion ( or was it and I overlooked it 😄 ? ) is : the installation of kill switch to the ABS and traction control . I think in order of priority it comes after the tires and bash plate . Personally when I entered the desert from the scratch I had my tires replaced to Yokohama A/T and the bash plate 10 mm installed to my X ( while for Absolute and NB not a must , but I wanted to have the feeling of it from the beginning and build on that my progress and skill without altering it if I would have done these later ) then after the first fiewbie a installed the kill switch because my ABS was kicking soon . Regarding lift kit and other mods mentioned earlier in the discussion of this thread till now I didn’t feel the need to do it and personally I am happy so far till now and I can take my X to where ever I want . I would like to share important fact from recent experience regarding the kill switch ( I don’t know how will work with LC ) but it worked with @Frederic and with me. When you are in stuck situation switch back on the traction control on again ( kill switch off ) which helps amazingly to let you out ) . I am planing later to make separate thread for this matter inshallah . cheers 🌷

I saw you have signed up with Pancho's Fewbie, and in consideration of the fact that that drive has 4 members signed in, while mine has 12, I would suggest that you still join your first drive with Pancho, so that we can balance the drives' numbers. I hope you understand this, which is not a rejection from my part, but an attempt to have equally balanced drives throughout the club. I am sorry if this disappoints you, and I hope you understand. Haha unfortunately I can't go with you I'm tied up. If you go. Park at GB then walk out and goto the information kiosk and they will direct you to the area that sell flags and off road gear. Buy a Camel dual Compressor negotiate down to 250 and get a flag. Try and get one with decent suction. They are all in the same row of shops. If you enjoy your session then next week goto an offroading garage and have them install a flat mount and buy a solid flag pole from them. Delator ace sell one for about 20. But you can just use your key if it's easier until you get time to get a deflator. I'm sure dragon mart will sell it also.

@Rahimdad , @Gaurav we have an off road club and lens lovers club. I would suggest we start a forum for a training for new drivers, vehicle owners to properly take care of their machines. I have noticed that new gen drivers don't even know how to change a tire, let alone checking engine oils or other fluids. In fact they just dump their machines at a garage and pay whatever the garage demands. So many vehicle owners here doesn't know even the technical aspects or capabilities and limitations of their machines. I learned it in a hard way last week by damaging my front drive train and @Frederic had to explain to me why the drive train was damaged.

Thanks @Rahimdad, the plan was not to do ABCD in one shot, but one mod every 2 months (to feel before & after mod + of course saving up for the next mod). Wow 2 pop-outs in 12yrs? Ok cancel the beadlocks then, I think I'm watching too many Jeep instagrams 😅. What do you think about the tires tho? Heavy tires might sink into sand, that's why people go to 10psi. Geolandar ppl say is not heavy, but not sure why the LandCruiser club on FB is bashing Yoko and recommending Toyo instead. Why lift kit? Hmm yeah I just assume higher ground clearance equals less chance of stuck since sand will not easily touch the chassis. But maybe it's better rock-crawling and less effective for sand? Definitely will join the drives again... just got the LC100 V8 yesterday so i missed signing up for @Gaurav's Sweihan, next time then 🙂

Wooooow! Awesome photos! I'm sure you know all the basics very well. So you can help others! Great camera! True, small brush is handy at times! Awesome! You should get great pics! True! Now I feel myself as a beginner among the pro photographers with their beasts 😃 However, we all know that camera is not the most important element but the person behind the camera!

@Rahimdad waiting for the notification and getting a spot was as good as waiting for those exam results you not sure which way it will swing.

I agree sir and that’s why due to less stiffness I have to start slower in order not to loose the momentum and line . Maybe I presumed they are more stiffer than my stock . Truthly it took time to find the proper approach in stock Xterra to bring it to top eventually and not always from first time !

I use both the roof top LED bar as well as the one near the headlights, and both serve two different purpose. 1. The LED bar at the top is curved which is more of a spread light which helps see a bit on the left and right of the car especially when you are crisscrossing a dune, however the straight line visibility is limited. 2. The one in front of the headlight is a powerful spot LED bar which gives good straight visibility. If I had to choose one between the two, I would choose the spot LED bar any day because of the light intensity and the clear visibility of the track in front of you. I would recommend installing it near the headlights or just below as that is the best place to install without any reflections and you can direct the light in the right angle. Now, if you are installing near the front headlights, depending on the space availability you should look to install the most powerful spot LED light bar. Mine is a 32 inch spot LED light bar of 480W and my night vision has improved so significantly that I am no longer called a Day time Marshal (the old timers in the club would know what I mean) 😁. You can put smaller LED light bar beam as per the below image on the two sides (near your windscreen) that would give you a peripheral vision. This would be my recommended setup.
