  1. Hello Guys, thanks a lot for a very nice drive. We started off with a medium paced drive and ended up with fast and really challenging climbs and ridge rides and enjoyed it. Thank you @Tbonefor the selection of terrains and it was nice to be your CF in the drive. I was really happy to catch up with you after soo long .Thank you. Being CF I didn't have much to do coz everyone in the convoy was absolutely great. @Hisham MasaadMasaadMasaadt thank you for the perfect second lead and your presence of mind could avoid many refusals and stucks @Miamimoeit was great to have you in the convoy with your real beast...the GLADIATOR.. thanks a lot for ur help with the winch . @Matt.Tit was nice to see you enjoying your drive with ur wrangler and every time coming out with @Hisham Masaadand @Miamimoefrom the soft struggling sand. @Sreejith Sreenivasan initially had an issue in understanding you new pajero SWB and towards the end it was nice to see you doing good with your new vehicle. @Javier Lucero you were doing great with your wrangler and believe you had a great day offroading and especially those hill climbs you did amazing @imranaasghar81 did really well with you FJ and awaits some pics and videos. @Nivin thank you for a great sweep and it was a confidence to have you behind the convoy. it was nice to be with all of you and hope to see you soon in the sand.

  2. DRIVE REPORT FRED's CONVOY Two big Carnity Convoys taking over Faqa North and Solar Park area. What else can we say about this drive ? - Everyone was excited to explore and up to the challenges we faced. - Apart from some small refusals, some shoveling and a few tugs, we were saved from serious stucks or technical issues. I was happy to see lots of guys in my convoy that i saw progressing through the ranks within our offroad club. It's amazing to see some of them gliding through the dunes with ease now ! In total, we covered 82kms, not just from doing sabkhas but we did our fair share of technical areas as well. And Oryx. so much Oryx we saw I wanted to use the play areas nearby the exit point (Solar Park Long dunes) as well, but time was slowly running out and wanted on the right time. We will definitely put them on the program next time. See you all soon back in the sand !

  4. Today’s drive was for everyone a real challenge. The track proposed by Federic was 80 Km long! The Drive We started with a set of small dunes under the clouds just at the beginning of the drive, I was not aware about how beautiful the next area was, so I was surprised to see such tall, clean dunes. We dug into them and it was incredible! We spent almost 1h1/2 there when I realized that we were late on my drive plan so decided (not easy) to move to the next area, We tried to avoid flats on the way to the Solar park. We had to deal with some small technical dunes but so far so good :). At that point it was late and, with an estimation around 40 minutes to get to Bab El Shams when it was already 11:10, we decided to exit early to Solar Park. We covered 78 Km with almost 25Km/h as average (moving) speed ! I want to Thank you all for the enthusiasm and how everybody handled this amazing drive! The convoy: @Craig Finlayson: was an AMAZING second lead, keeping the right distance and able to find an immediately alternative path when I was digging in a pocket or a nasty area. Thank you for your support! (ant for the three tugs ) @Anand Nataraj: you are completely into the intermediate level, you managed also very well the problem with your leak on the tire hope that you managed to find the issue. @Islam Soliman: I meet you first time in Abu Dhabi. I found today an impressive improvement. Your Yukon is not an easy toy to handle. Well Done! @Ahab Shamaa I love your enthusiasm, Your dive style is amazing and I hope that you enjoyed the drive! Just one question... Why did you choose today to have your first Poput?? @Ashok chaturvedi : I hope that you enjoyed the drive with us, you are handling your FJ very well, See you on the sand soon then! @Tariq Carrimjee: you follow our crazy drive with your full open Wrangler.. I bring one ton of sand at home.. Did you do the same? @Francois Germishuys: I was looking at you (and Islam) everytime I coud. I know that handling a beast is not a joke especially in technical areas. You did perfectly, your style is amazing! @marks: Sweeping today was not an easy task, thank you for your help. I was not feeling at all that I was bringing 8 other cars on that adventure. Was because of you and @Craig Finlayson! Hope to have the chance to drive with you soon then!

  5. First of all, thanks to @Frederic and @Luca Palanca Falsini for accommodating such a massive convoy and making sure everyone gets to enjoy their weekend. This drive was a bit longer (82 km) than usual (60km) and we drove mostly under the shade of the clouds with cool breezes flowing in through the windows. Every one drove extremely well and we only had around 4 stucks through 4.5 hr hours of driving, hence we were moving for most part of the drive. Thanks again @Frederic for leading such a fantastic drive, We enjoyed a lot and looking forward for more. *Some pictures will be uploaded in the Gallery

  7. DRIVE REPORT Dear Desert Wanderers, With 3 dropouts within 24h from the drive (@AlexPol, @N@ved and @Sinol) our convoy had only 9 cars. By 7:15am we were ready to go in a surreal atmosphere due to an unusual grey sky. Not even 10 mins in the drive we had a first serious stuck with @Thomas Varghese, in his first experience ad a 2nd Lead: his X-Terra got trapped in a tricky patch of very soft sand and bushes, to the extent that winching was required. The medium / small technical dunes in Shuwaib are all but simple: with very unpredictable shapes, sudden pockets and sharp crests, they put immediately the convoy under pressure. The high and complex dunes we drove through forced everyone to give their very best, as they require a combination of control, speed, power and determination that are certainly a big step up from normal Fewbie Drives, let alone a good quantity of criss-crossings and very extensive ridge riding and side sloping in and out multiple bowls, a with a very high pace. Overall we crossed 11 areas with such high and demanding dunes and the convoy certainly paid its due toll of stucks and refusals, with my winch called in action other 3 times, as equally tough were the stints with small dunes in between. @Thomas Varghese was a good 2nd lead, following my tail very efficiently and surprisingly well in some of the trickiest and most adventurous moments. A few refusals here and there, well handled overall. @Aus Alzubaidi came through with very good pace and control of his capable car. @Junaid120120 followed impatiently, eager for more dunes, sometimes finding himself a bit to close to the car in front. @Arda Yagcioglu was a reliable center forward, providing precious guidance in numerous occasions with refusals and stucks. For the future, a longer recovery rope will be advisable in order to be able to safely operate also in the extreme conditions like the ones we faced today, where - due to insufficient rope lenght - we opted for winching @Thomas Varghese down from the credit where he had ended up. @varunmehndiratta followed, showing a great improvements from previous drives, even in much more challenging terrains like today's one @Arman had a hard time climbing some of the tallest dunes we attacked today due to the limited power of his Wrangler, but did overall very well. @Ali Abas did was magnificent with his Landcruser: today's drive wasn't certainly easy with such a large beast. At times it may have sounded a bit scary, but it was certainly a great learning experience. @Shamil at the back was a precious sweep. He had a couple of uncomfortable minutes where he was left behind, with his engine not pushing enough to get him through a huge and challenging bowl, while the convoy, unaware of his difficulties, moved away. Luckily someone at the back finally realized that @Shamil was not with us: having reastablished radio contact and understood his position, the convoy backtracked to get hold of him and then restart along our planned route. It was during the rerouting that followed the reconjunction with @Shamil that @Aus Alzubaidi got stuck in a nasty pocket, front and back deep into the sand and the rear right wheel spinning in the air. Once again the winch was in action and we could soon move again. By 11am we had just exited Super Bowl, where we probably indulged a bit too much, giving @Junaid120120 the chance for a frontal attemot after he had already successfully made it to the top, as also @Thomas Varghese and @varunmehndiratta (or was it @Aus Alzubaidi) did. We were ready to hit the sabkha and make our exit, however the convoy asked to continue to Iftaar Bowl, which was in sight right in front of us. As usual, the last minute extensions of the drive proved to be an unfortunate decision. We quickly made it to Iftaar Bowl oy to get held there with @Thomas Varghese's X-Terra showing an engine fault light while stuck in a dangerous position close to the west side ascent to the top of the bowl, where too many irresponsible drivers from other convoys were ignoring the presence of a car clearly in trouble and with an open bonnet. Under @Shamil's experienced guidance, based on his own experience with X-Terra, the battery was disconnected a few times to force a total reset of the computer, which eventually got back to normal only after tugging the car down to the middle of the bowl, on flat area. Having sorted out this last challenge, we gave up any further attempts to climb Iftaar Bowl and we made our exit to Tawi Ghadaya by 11.50am. Overall we drove for 4h 37' of which moving time was 3h 1' (not to bad, considering the number of stucks and refusals). We covered 43.4km and a total ascent / descent of of over 250m, with a moving pace of 4'11"/km. Kudos to the whole convoy, who came out unscathed and hopefully entertained in a very demanding Fewbie+ drive today and thanks to @Arda Yagcioglu and @Shamil for their precious help. See you soon in the sand again!

  8. Thanks @Lorenzo Candelpergher for the wonderful drive. The steep dunes, awesome slopes and a bit of ridge driving it had all that i needed to practice skills learnt over my last Fewbie plus drive. Felt much more in control with manual shift today and all credit to leadership team and process at Carnity. The development chart is very well thought through providing a very structured learning curve. Thanks to @Shamil and @Arda Yagcioglu for regular support. And to the whole team for making it a fun drive. Looking forward for the next ride with you all.

  11. Thanks @varunmehndiratta. The pictures look beautiful because nature is beautiful. I didn't do anything but capture moments on the camera. Little bit color enhancing and grading was done in Lightroom. If you look at the pictures you will understand they are all random pictures. This has nothing to do with the camera gear or the photographer. To be frank I'm not a professional photographer and my gear is not pro. Praise GOD ALMIGHTY for his stunning creativity and for giving us eyes and ears to see and hear all his creations.

  12. Thanks for the kind words and appreciation @Lorenzo Candelpergher. As my 1st drive as a 2nd lead that too in a fewbie plus drive it was very challenging. I was in a dilemma. As per your instruction to follow you at some distance I tried for sometime but its not easy as you disappear very fast in those never ending dunes. As it was a busy place with so many convoys and tracks it was easy to lose your trail. Moreover I could see even your car was struggling sometimes in the soft sands when we side slope or criss cross. The best strategy was Vodaphone's old advert - The puppy which follows wherever his master goes. Forget everything about leaving some distance and follow @Lorenzo Candelpergher wherever he goes before he vanishes out of sight. I suppose I did good in that aspect. The drive was very exciting except for some glitches from my car and me. Thanks for the support extended to me by @Lorenzo Candelpergher, @Aus Alzubaidi, @Junaid120120, @Arda Yagcioglu & @Shamil for helping in shovelling and winching the car out. The rest of the drivers showed very much patience and waited for the recovery as per Covid protocols. See all of you in sand soon.

  13. The MAF sensor is fine I believe as I blew off some sand from the sensor of your truck. I would suggest you drive the car for a few days and see if the error resurfaces. And if it does, then get it checked from a reliable garage for usual suspects like sand in throttle body, cam sensors etc

  14. The Xterra was behaving little sluggish from the start of the drive and credited me with some refusals and stucks. Thanks to the team overcame all the difficulties. Fortunately after @Shamil's trick of disconnecting the battery to reset the ECU and restarting from the flat area at iftar bowl the Xterra found its sprint back. The drive back home was very exciting as the machine was responding instantaneously to every small thrust of the throttle. After couple of refusals I was thinking what happened to its power. Thankfully everything returned to normal after the ECU reset but got to check with garage if the MAF sensor or throttle body is dirty as @Shamil suggested. Overall I am very happy to own the beast as it proved its very sturdy and down to earth technology employed by the manufacturer. The nasty ditches and bumps the Xterra took it like piece of cake. I was afraid after the nose hit the sand very hard so many times that the machine will fall apart or maybe the suspension will crack. Next moment the Xterra sprints like nothing happened. Wow. Kudos to Nissan for bringing out such a sturdy 4 X 4. Built like a ROCK. Sad they discontinued it. Will check tomorrow if any sand has gone inside the MAF sensor or throttle body which made the engine run at safe rpm's. Its been more than 10 drives in the sand after the last clean up.

  18. Nice ride @Tbone. Smooth and lively. The weather was absolutely ideal. The clouds were a nice touch. Good trail today. Mix of different driving which helped me learn a few things. Appreciate the tire pressure advice @Nivin. Helped loads to deflate a bit more. World of difference. Thanks to everyone. Enjoyed it thoroughly. Cheers 🍻

  20. With the tremendous increase in the number of COVID cases in the UAE, we all have to be responsible while off-roading. Failing to abide by any single precaution at any time during the drive, will result in an immediate ban from Carnity Off-road Club. ZERO TOLERANCE First offender - 1 Month Ban. Second offender - 3 Month Ban. Third offender - lifetime ban and report to authorities. COVID19 PRECAUTIONS 2.0 All Carnity off-road drives will be LIMITED to driving only: No Socializing and gathering allowed at any time. No break for taking photos, breakfast, smoking, etc. No exchanging of off-road or recovery gears. Wear a mask at all times, while outside your vehicle. For passengers restrictions, follow RTA or NCEMA guidelines. All passengers should be inside the car, at all times. Maintain a minimum of 2-meter social distance at all times. Sanitize your hands and recovery gear after use. PS1. If you and your passenger cannot sit inside your vehicle for 3-4 hours please DO NOT JOIN CARNITY DRIVES. PS2. A Member who has RSVP the drive is RESPONSIBLE and LIABLE for their passenger's compliance. PS3. The above precautions apply to everyone irrespective of their vaccination status or schedule. PS4. You can confidentially submit the photo of any offender by sending an email to [email protected]. How to comply Read the drive post before arriving at the meeting point, so that you know your convoy numbering and radio channel. Arrive at the meeting point and switch on your radio to the pre-set frequency of the drive. Stop your vehicle at least 10-20 meters away from each other. Deflate your tires, while wearing a mask, and then go back inside your car. All briefings will be done on the radio now, so pay full attention to a briefing for your own safety. After the briefing, fall in your convoy position just before the drive starts. While driving if you get stuck, announce on the radio and be inside your car at all times. Trip lead and/or support will guide you on the radio for self-recovery or tow-rope recovery. While there is a stuck or a refusal, everyone else supposed to be inside their car at all times. You can only take a bio-break during the drive, by requesting trip lead permission. Once the drive is over exit out to inflate by maintaining 10-20 meters distance from each other. While inflating, only the driver supposed to be out and with the face mask at all times. After the drive, you can talk on the radio for any feedback, suggestions or help you need.

  21. Thank you @Rahimdad Bhai for what was a challenging drive and for the confidence to put me as SL - such a privilege as following you felt like a 1:1 lesson the whole drive! The day required patience and every member of the drive showed that to each other which was amazing to see! @Ashy and @Brette were an example to me on what it takes to do the SF role and @Paul Zeitoun was comedy gold which just lightened the mood for us all... almost every stuck I would hear laughter (even after 4 hours) .. you and @Rahimdad bhai made the hardest parts of the day full of laughter (18+ warnings required :)) I join the drives to escape the working week and collect some fresh air ... so no matter how many stops I really enjoy the environment we find ourselves! This was one of, if not the most technical drive I have been on (and the longest sidie)... the many stops allowed me to enjoy the views and surrounding and I hope others managed to take this in also (the sun breaking through the clouds was stunning). The dunes didn’t have a single track on them- they were tight and resembled choppy seas .. added the pic below as i cannot believe we all made it through that as fewbies with smiles and a lot learnt! Added a few more pics to the gallery and below to remind everyone what a beautiful day we were treated to! See you all on the next one

  24. Trip Report Shorter convoy means faster pace. I couldn't have been more wrong. Arriving at the deflation point was amazing to see most of the convoy ahead of me deflating with Coid19 precautions. Once everyone was deflated we had our briefing over the radio and took off for a day which was going to surprise us in a good way. A good way because it gave us more time in the desert together. It showed us we can work together with the Covid19 restrictions in place. It made us a much stronger team. Last but not the least it taught us a lot of lessons and more about ourselves and our driving style. We entered some nice dunes and it was good till ot lasted. However a dead end in some small dunes left a traffic jam. Thankfully I wS able to get out of the dead end along with @Niki Patel to leave some space for others to get moving. It took hard work digging and did take some time but it was worth the time taken as we all cleared on to the track. Quickly we found ourselves in some small technical area and like the day had planned for us some refusals and stucks were bound to trouble us. Hard work and determination to move as a team had us going again. Once we tackled the technical area we were treated to some large rolling dunes with zero tire marks. Virgin dunes till eyes could see. This is where the frustrations were supposed to be left to rest. We played around at high speeds and covered up to lost time in the technical area. The icing on the cake was a long dune where we did an endless side slope. Nope that was not the happy ending. As we were enjoying ourselves, we were thrown back into some technical dunes, but this time they were medium sized ones. Although it was just a 600 meter ordeal, but at one time it seemed the desert just didn't want to part ways with us. As we handled one really technical area which had us thinking of writing our wills, we just broke free from the shackles. We quickly travelled through quickly and trying to keep on top of every little dunes as long as we could and crossing over to the next. I was pleasantly surprised to see the whole convoy tightly following my line. In no time we were on a much forgiving area which led us to a nice sakhalin. It was time to play rally and saw everyone racing their engines towards the inflation point. Pleasant surprise was to catch up with @Gaurav bhai, @Kailas and their convoy deflating. We started our inflation, but the smile and sense of achievement is wat I cherish the most. @Niki Patel as I already complimented him was an excellent second lead. This was something selfish for me. He has always complimented me for my smooth drive. I wanted him to drive behind me and copy me so I could see me through his eyes. Thank you @Niki Patel for doing so well, I was really impressed to see my reflection following me at all times. @Hossam Anwar was at number 3. He had plenty to deal with throughout the drive, but I really loved his enthusiasm and never say die attitude. @Trekado was at number 4 and with our second Pajero for the day. He managed a little better but I hope he learned more from @Hossam Anwar and knew exactly what not to do. @Baskaran P.R with our third Pajero for the day and was at number 5 in our convoy. He managed well with the accepting of following our tracks on a couple of occasions. I am sorry regarding hour front bumper, but our powerful @Paul Zeitoun took care of that with his bear hands. @Ashy was my Center Forward at number 6 with @Brette to help him out as passenger. The duo really had a hard day in the office and managed to help everyone out with a huge smile. Kudos to the dynamic duo. Sorry @Ashy for your bent rim, and thanks to @Paul Zeitoun idea for removing the tire to inflate when we saw the rim bent from the inside where air kept escaping. @Ahmad Shaker was at number 7 with his FJ and managed well throughout the drive with a couple of refusals, but we'll done buddy. @Mario Cornejo was in the eight spot, and Danny had a Kit Kat bar waiting for me early in the morning. I'm never going to tease hi. About chocolates any more. Whatever Danny whispered in @Mario Cornejo ears as a Junior Marshal and his co-driver kept him afloat throughout the drive. I have driven with him a couple of times and had faith in him at the back. Well done Mario, really great driving specially on today's drive. My confidence Iin you is even higher. @Paul Zeitoun was my sweep as he too has driven with me before and I'm very confident he would come through. Except for a pop-out which was challenging to fix, he did brilliantly in the sweep position, specially through some nasty small dunes. so @Wrangeld we were not able to break any of your records, yet we walked in your shoes today and salute you for every time you have showed us some tough love. Above all was the jokes kept flowing and adding positive energy to the group to take each challenge with a smile and march on. The thing I enjoyed the most today was the team spirit and the never say die attitude from all the members. Thank you all for a wonderful day together. Hope to catch you all soon.

  25. Dear @Emmanuel @Kalahari @Shyam Karat, just wanted to thank you for sharing your expertise and supervisory skills in the drive this morning. Being positioned second last in the convoy enabled me to learn from the members ahead of me in the convoy in today’s drive. Whether it was a refusal they encountered or getting their tires buried into sand, I can’t deny the fact that I tapped knowledge in those instances by purely watching the members and listening to instructions issued by the experts. That said the real champs I must say are members who were caught up in those situations as that’s a whole different experience apart from just gaining knowledge. All in all the drive was good, the terrain and path/route were good, challenging at times but manageable. So thank you all and enjoy the rest of the weekend!
