As a first Fewbie drive I won’t lie I did have a few nerves. After we first entered the desert and hit a few bigger dunes then I attacked before the nerves really kicked in. However watching @Anish S @Alain Canivet-Abikhalil and @Marwan Haddad drive with skill I pushed on and learnt as I drive. Compared to newbie this was fast paced , technical and sooooooo much fun and I learnt a lot about myself and my driving. @Anish Si believe you have shown me that I love technical driving , mid paced , tight turns , small difficult bowls and cris crossing mid size dunes. Really enjoyed even with a couple of refusals , however even there learning from other Marshall’s in the past we didn’t stop and kept momentum and came back round. All in all everyone drove so well!!!! The momentum was fantastic, unless I’m mistaken only two major refusals through such a tricky drive. Are all fewbie drives this technical and at that pace? With reference to a post I made Re kill switches , yes I will be getting them installed, traction control was not an issue however the ABS did kick in a couple of times on this drive when I’d rather it hadn’t , causing me to have to adjust my braking on the fly! I also had a big hit exiting a side slope early in Qudra where the first thing in my mind was “Airbags” ,car was fine thank god however the bash plate has officially been christened and is definitely not as straight as before 😂. @Lakshmi Narasimhan @RooRzOn fantastic support over the radio and keeping the team knowing what was happening in the kid and back of the convoy. In a way was a shame not see you rescuing more of us and advising the team as we got stuck and learning but I guess that’s a good thing you didn’t have too. Thank you all great mid week drive! Really amazing and learnt a lot again.

Thanks again to @Anish S for a very enjoyable drive yesterday, chasing the sunset across the dunes was great fun. Picked a fantastic route with a nice mix of technical and more open dunes, enjoyed getting up some of those bigger dunes during the mid section and thought the whole group drove so well that we where able to maintain good momentum through out the drive. Thanks also to @Alain Canivet-Abikhalil, @Lakshmi Narasimhan and @RooRzOn for the support during the drive. Good to meet some new drivers and see some familiar faces again, look forward to seeing you all in the Dunes sometime soon.

Was a wonderful, nice, technical mid week drive , thanks to @Anish S and support team @Lakshmi Narasimhan, @RooRzOn. and 2L @Alain Canivet-Abikhalil....and not to forget @Marwan Haddad who created a new position called 3rd Lead 😂 as L and 2L were in-seperable at times due to the nature of terrain !! the drive was worth the early "bunk" from my worksite 😉, every minute Right mix of intense technical stuff and fast paced long range dunes, cross overs, broad ridge rides etc. Sustaining long sideys still prove to be a challenge for me, as i lost confidence mid way on couple of them, and exited early. Waiting for the right technique to present itself, as i get to practice more . This mound of sand on long side slopes, created by the cars in front always scares me, as a pivot for roll overs, so the moment i see a fairly high sand mound, my mind goes blank 😃 Tried to create some video links..excuse the quality and vibration...taken with iphone on a 50AED holder

You have an amazing copilot on action over radio today, thanks @Veedooshee. @Alain Canivet-Abikhalil good drive, you enjoy second lead position much!!!, enjoying the drive is the objective, continue enjoying!!! You have improved a lot on side slope couldn’t see any fish tailing, it was a pleasure watching you. If you manage to maintain the right momentum on climbing small dunes you will be perfect. But you self recover very well keep it up. @Marwan Haddadyou did drive well, nothing to worry about exiting side slope early, you will perfect it with more practice, most important is to know when to exit which you did well today. @Christopher Assal it was pleasure watching you from behind, couple of areas you slowed while approaching the dune but you managed to push at right time and crossed without getting refusal. Good drive!!! @Zixuan Huang - Charlie you really drove well today maintaining safe distance. @Sunil Mathew I could see you driving beautifully, and your confidence level has made you enjoy the drive, well done. @Darren Brooke hope you enjoyed the drive and managed on churned up sand and technical areas well. Hope you fix your car asap and rock as usual. @TT_Dubai didn’t hear you on radio, as you mentioned you enjoyed technical area very much for first time, that too from behind. Good job, continue enjoying. @darren thompson hope you enjoyed the drive with your monster Raptor specifically in the technical areas and churned up sand driving at the back of the convoy. You were quite through out the drive which shows you managed and enjoyed it throughly. @RooRzOn thanks for sweeping the convoy and you did great job. Hope you also enjoyed the drive. Over all we covered good distance in short time and exited on time with most of the time driving. It was a wonderful drive, thanks to every one in the convoy. See you all soon!!!

With such an amazing convoy strength in Shuwaib, we would most probably better the Amazing drive that some of us did a couple of months ago that I was privileged to be a part of. Expect lot of high speed maneuvers, long hill climbs, criss crossing on some of the most amazing dunes that this area can offer. As mentioned in my earlier post, with such a good partipation @Islam Soliman has been kind enough to lead another convoy. Both convoy numberings would be posted by tomorrow evening. Look forward to meeting the big boys of Carnity.

I was definitely working up a sweat with all the left and right steering even with the AC on full 😃 Thanks to everyone else that helped with the digging also Thanks to @Lakshmi Narasimhanand @Anish S for the loan of the compressor at the end of the drive , really not sure what was happening as checked the alternator this morning and all was fine (will just have to keep a careful eye on it for next couple of drives) One final thanks to @Anish S and @RooRzOnfor escorting me home just to make sure car battery didn't go caput on the drive back. really appreciated. Wow that was a lot of Thank yous for 1 drive. Oh almost forgot @Alain Canivet-Abikhalilfor a great job at 2nd lead (That's it now) Weekend almost here so can't wait till the next one

Fast paced and technical drive in the heated summer afternoon, long slopes and tricky dunes. Thank you @Anish S for arraging this mid week "3 course meal", and support team members for making the drive smooth and enjoyable @Lakshmi Narasimhan @Alain Canivet-Abikhalil @RooRzOn and ofc @Marwan Haddad for rerouting the tracks on numerous occasions. @TT_DubaiTim could you please give me the link for that 4 cylinder compressor you mentioned? my little compressor has come to its end of life surely

Great drive this afternoon through heat and soft sand . Thank you@Ale Vallecchi for the lovely track. Mix of every thing. For me it had been for a while since I stretched my legs 😄. @Kalaharilong time since we drove together I guess last time was in Qudra. The pop out today was fast in happening and in fixing. 😉 . I guess the only stuck today was mine in soft patch thanks @Gok Krishfor the gentle tug , I don’t remember when was the last time someone tugged me out 🤣 . @Islam Soliman you have been always the expert in all the drives I did with you , glad that you were with us today 🙏. @Thomas Varghese I don’t know but from now on wards whenever I see you in any drive I will keep whispering to my X cool down and please don’t hit the 100 degrees🤣 today i didn’t want to look at the dashboard 😎.. thanks for the pictures in advance 🙏. @Rob H probably we didn’t get the chance to catch up this time but definitely I caught the beast roaring from the back cheers bro👍 . @Ahab Shamaa your presence add a special charisma to the drive. @Christopher Assalyou can follow this method until you install the kill switch https://youtu.be/FMT72YQxgnU I use it and its flawless. Just turn your engine off, unplug, the turn it on. Same goes for plugging it back Dont worry abt skidplates.. they are there to be bended 😂😂

Hi @Ale Vallecchi with heavy heart I will have withdraw from the drive today. 😔Car was today for a routine check and we indentified a leaking steering box… won’t be until tomorrow that I can get my car! It’s always better to identify the problem while it’s in garage then in the middle of the dunes!

Definitely you are improving with every drive, so nothing to worry, it took me 20+ drives to be more confident its still WIP. Try to see the path car in the front has taken (if they can do safely, you will also be able to) and observe the momentum (this is the key factor), also try to take fresh track left/right/above/below based on the situation and also push little bit more, try to practice this on couple of newbie drives, you will see lot of improvement!!!

Super drive this afternoon! We started with military precision and finished on time. Really enjoyed the tight technical stuff, a first for me . The pace was good and we covered around 62kms so we managed to stretch our legs as well. I know everyone says this but everyone drove so well, even in the soft powder criss crossing without knowing what is on the other side. We enjoyed a glorious sunset set against a postcard dune backdrop. Nice to see familiar faces and to meet new ones. Thanks again @Anish S for the planning and the lead and to the impeccable support from @Alain Canivet-Abikhalil@Lakshmi Narasimhanand @RooRzOn I came straight from the office so didn't have my big camera to take many snaps unfortunately. Have a good week ahead!

Thank you @Anish S for putting me as your second lead. You know how much I like this position I had a few refusals today, I felt that I didn't deflate my tires enough at the beginning of the ride and also probably because I was too close to you at some moments and couldn't calibrate my momentum. Overall, I really enjoyed the ride especially that you took us into unusual dune path. You really made the best out of the 3 hours of driving. Sometimes technical dunes are "too technical" but as mentioned during the drive, your track made us all enjoy it (even @RooRzOn ??) @Lakshmi Narasimhan and @RooRzOn you made such a good job that from my position I almost never saw what was happening in the back except when we were looping and got to see everyone riding superbly ! And @Marwan Haddad very well done, you managed to rectify the route perfectly several times. Cheers !

Just my two cents: Brands/ Models to avoid: - X-cessories. These are just Chinese rebranded compressors that are being sold with a pretty big mark up. - Mini compressors to connect to cigarette lighter: Will last only a few drives. Not made to inflate from 15 to 35psi, unless you want to wait for 45mins or longer. Will overheat easily because of this. Acceptable / Good: Camel Brand compressors from Dragon Mart: Mixed reviews. Some last a few months, some easily last two years and longer. They are not expensive, fast, but very loud. But they get the job done. Premium Models: ( 1 to 5 year warranty) - TJM , Viair ( or Bushranger), MeanMother, Smittybilt, ARB What to look after when buying a compressor ? 1) Warranty. A premium brand should provide 4-5 years warranty which will make the higher price worthwhile. 2) Output in liters per minute (lpm). The more the better of course. Everything from 40lpm upwards should be fine. Some will show a rating in cfm (cubic feet per minute). 2.3 cfm = 65lpm. 3) Duty Cycle: Air compressors heat up when running so most have a limited consistent output before they need to stop and cool off. This run time in-between cycles is called a duty cycle. Manufacturers typically represent run time with a number, such as “20”, which means you can run the compressor for 20 minutes every hour. sometimes they show a percentage. 20 minutes would indicate a 33% duty cycle. Keep this in mind when you are using the compressor every week. Avoid exceeding the duty cycle time as in a short period of time it would overheat / destroy the compressor. 4) Quality of the coiled hose, pressure gauge. 5) inline fuse and thermal overload protection. Will come standard with premium models. Below a specs example of Bushranger Black Max: Duty cycle is 30 minutes @40psi at 24°C ambient temperature. Obviously the ambient temperature will be much higher for us here in the UAE, so you will need to take that into account. Keep the compressor in the shade while using (or even on the inside of the car if possible) and keep your engine running. These compressors are rated to work most efficiently at 13.8 Volts, so your alternator should be running.
